Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this! I was driving myself crazy, I got to the point where I took apart the entire center console and STILL didn’t have access to it! Ugh… I feel dumb lol
Thanks for making this video, Bjorn! It's exactly what I was looking for. I messed up when I was pulling out the old USB port - I accidentally snapped off the plastic tab on the back of the panel that secures the port in place, between the center console and the wire harness. For anyone else who did that, the replacement part is less than $10 USD, Volvo part #1303579.
A little force ? :p Two orange peelers and a giant screwdriver later it's off, but it took a lot more than two minutes! Navigation is now updating (1.5 hours). Keeping fingers crossed.
@@margarethaynes6313 yeah it can be quite a bit of force l, I thought it was going to break but it did not. I can imagine it takes some time if it's the first try. But happy you got it open
Thanks for that I followed your advice and it worked great, so I then fitted a new usb socket which I now use to power a usb Ugreen Bluetooth adapter to 3.5 auxiliary jack which works fantastic for handsfree music and calls Well done
@@bjornstout1534 radio is the same model i change it with same model because of malfunction done software update in Volvo service, how much is usb port?

Many thanks for the helpful video
Lots of force needed, and the metal clips stayed behind. I had to bend them back into shape and put them back on for reassembly.
Thanks for this. Going to try it tomorrow in my 2017 XC60. And THEN I'll try to update the navigation!
Hope it works for you
And I'm stuck with two orange peelers sticking out of the console 😢

my s60 p3 2011 does not have usb maybe if instalation cable is present could install usb port?
I'd assume it also requires software on the cars radio. But since the part is not so expensive you could try it.

@@Vader74 somewhere between €25 and €45 depending on where you order it. Part number VOLVO 30775252
Mine won't budge
What part won't budge the back panel?
It was the first part with the clips. I spent about an hour and finally got it with how much force I used I'm surprised I didn't break anything
@@blakezimmerschied5892 same here. It did take quite a bit of force and a little damage, but it's done!
