Gonna Fly Now
Arr. Victor López
Item: 00-26901
Series: Young Jazz Ensemble
Format: Conductor Score & Parts
Level: 2
The theme from Rocky is triumphant, powerful and noble sounding! This rock-style chart is scored for the young player by Victor López with the familiar Maynard Ferguson-flavored solo. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff. This chart includes a tenor solo (written) and the usual optional parts. Gonna Fly Now is a great classic that should be in all jazz libraries. This title is available in SmartMusic.

Reading a score sheet is another language. Then playing an instrument. Musicians are artists that are on same level as graduate students of business, science, philosophy, etc. This Rocky theme is also good to evaluate speakers. In the stereo shows I attended in the 1980’s, jazz and metal instrument music was popular to listen to speakers; no rock guitar distortion, and more listenable than classical.
I played that in my Jazz band concert, and that trumpet solo is epic!
No you didnt teddy
It was a typo
@@HarryRothermel I meant to say we will
I should have done tenor sax this year 😞 that solo is so fire...
I live it. I play it with my band and itgreat to play the sax solo. It's really fun and people always love it
love it endlessly !
Im playing this song on the drums tonight 😀
My school played this in jazz band last year, but we had to cancel the concert cause of corona :(
same :(
My school just played this like 2 days ago in jazz band
My school just got the music for it I got drums and I’m so stoked
One piece of advice I’d give: shred the drum solo 😂
Rip this a banger
Im playing this for my concert in Jazz band
I’m playing this. My teacher said it was the one that will challenge us.
We showed him. This is easy. I play trombone 1.
Had the drum solo on this but guess what cancelled the concert?
Well... im a drummer as well and we played it, but we SKIPPED the solo
The big yeet of 2020?

Can I use this in a video as fair use if I credit you?
ThatKoolaidGuy he didn’t make this song.
sax solo at 1:10 just sounding sexy
@Gael Alexandre Rosa I quit band, but only because I didn’t like my director and he didn’t choose good music, also Was never in jazz band, kinda wish I was, but I didn’t want to put fourth the effort. I just enjoy listening to the music, not as much playing it anymore.
Darn right
I have the tenor solo this year, concert is in a week and I suck at low notes I’m so nervous l
just improvise the parts that you can't do, it's a solo so unless someone has the sheet music on them they won't know you did anything different than what the score said
i need that sax solo transcribed 😩
@John-Braden Myers no idea lol
I’m working on it I’ll put the link here once I finish
@@oyakodon69 thank ya
