OG BF and BF2 have the most fun to play AT-AT in my opinion. Their cannons were absolutely destructive, if you walked along the side of a hill a snowspeeder could not tangle your legs up, they were so well armored that they could push through enemy lines with ease, absolute beasts. BattleFront 2015 has the best looking one in my opinion. And it's still pretty fun. Just not quite as fun as the OG
Back when games put fun before balance and we all just lived with it. Nowadays everyone just complains until they inevitably nerf or remove aspects of what makes the games fun:/

I prefer the OG battlefront II. You have the freedom to go wherever you want in it. And the weak spot is easier to get to with all the ion turrets on the map. Also, taking them down with a snow speeder is awesome. No weird minigame like in 2015, just get a buddy in the back and fly around. I did that with my 6 year old nephew and he was so excited when we took down an AT-AT that way. Just like how you do it in the movies
@@henex1296 yeah I did enjoy playing a lot of current battlefield 2 but it's become a mess right now with lag hackers and hackers in general I Guess. I'd get messed with so bad that my character stands still and I get shot at, but the gameplay also annoys me cause I'd hate playing as a droid, I know they're slightly weaker and it does make sense considering they're skinny and lanky but I shouldn't be in the middle of a war and my character can just get one tapped every five seconds by the enemy team that shit annoyed me. And lastly the hero vs villains isn't as fun not to mention the shitty ultimate they gave grievous. When people play nothing but the shooter characters and they bombard you with gun fire while you're wanting to play the Jedi you can't do a damn thing cause if you try to deflect their shots you lose stamina then can't block anymore.. I get they wanted to try to be fair but when you get a group of shooters against you as Jedi or sith it becomes so damn dull to have to run away from them to keep from dying and it's annoying, and the grevious thing I mentioned why the fuck is his ultimate just him spinning the lightsabers around?? Who thought that was a good idea?! His other two abilities are fine but the ultimate sucks ass I don't ever use it unless I corner someone. What they SHOULD have done is made him fight with only two arms then his ultimate brings out his other two arms for him to just lay waist to everyone, and to make things worse he doesn't even all the lightsabers like he should he instead spins the two up front. I would have liked it better if he spun the other ones behind him at least so that he can block incoming shots and anyone trying to attack him from behind like that would make more sense but nope... Worst fucking ult in the game by far.
OG Battlefronts have the most freedom with the AT-AT but I love the reboot version because it looks and sounds just like the movies. It also is more integrated with the game mode as an objective which made walker/galactic assault so fun.

Gameplay wise it was unbalanced broken for multiplayer. Besides, it’s not super exciting driving it around anyways. It’s painfully slow.

Waayyy too many games I played ended in rebels winning by capturing all posts because the AT-ATs wouldnt move up.
OG BF2 had the best one with the pilot having two different weapons to use, the side mounted medium lasers and the chin mounted heavy cannons, to utterly decimate anything in your way. Always loved driving that beautiful engine of destruction, blasting away anything and everything that gets in my way.
The 2019 Battlefront 2 AT-AT has buggy abilities but is beautifully designed. The 2015 AT-AT Walker Assualt game mode was perfect and was super fun to use and feels like you're in the movies despite it being on rails! The Og Battlefronts have AT-AT walkers that are controllable and fun to use.
At-at fact: the fuel cells are in the upper rear of the walker. The thing under it's belly hasn't been specified. (Most likely something to do with the leg movement)
You gotta appreciate that OG BF2 did an excellent job at maintaining the scenarios in universe. I always struggled playing as the Rebel Alliance on Hoth.
When I was a kid I hadn’t seen Empire Strikes Back yet, and discovered on my own that you could tangle their legs with the speeders. Coolest discovery ever at the time.
Hoth was my favorite map entirely because all I did was fly the snow speeders around these dudes. I wasn't even that good at it, I just loved that you could do it. It was so unique compared to just shooting them down
One of the coolest things in the original Bf2 to do with these was use a speeder as luke to land and jump onto the top of the at and cut it down with the saber. Had a game where the imperials vader floated up to stop/duel on the top of the ATAt as well
Driving an AT-AT was one of the very first things I did when the OG Battlefront dropped. No game had given you that much control over one of those before.
The classic collection opened my eyes. While I did always think the original was insane… the constant threat of speeders + 5 minute timer to reach rebel spawns does create a huge issue. Meanwhile the reboot was very map dependent. Grab the power up at the beginning and it’s worthless. Grab it at the end phase and you will massacre… but be exposed to death depending on context.
When I was a kid, I had a hoth battle where it came down to me and the last ATAT driver. The AI had just kinda stopped so I switched to heavy and spent like 45 minutes whittling down its health from the hangar. Good times
The new BF AT-ATs are fun for different reasons. They're the main objectives so it's all team vs team trying to defend or destroy the AT-ATs. I like it conceptually but the freedom to start blasting anything and actually moving around in the classic BF is pretty awesome.
If i remember there is a mode in the 2017 BfII wich allows you to use an at-at, but if i remember correctly it only lets you shoot with it, not drive it around
It's the power of choice with the BF2 AT-ATs. It's the ultimate power trip being able to direct it in whichever direction you see fit, acting as a mobile command post and sending anyone who stands in your way flying across the map with your cannons. Nothing beats that OG BF2 AT-AT.
The thing I absolutely despised about the later Battlefront games was the severely limited vehicle selection compared to the originals, and that the huge vehicles were basically self-moving props that let you sometimes shoot the cannon. Also making most of the vehicles one user only, even though there were multiple seats.
Og bf2 also had a second spot for additional players for support also the atat had the ability to spawn ai if the second players used the spawn option from player controled atat's and all tanks and aircraft had gunner support seats with a vast amounts of guns and some had transport gunners up to 3 some being op af.
I was happy to see I still sucked at trying to topple these things like I did in the original. The only difference was that it wasn't my cousin laughing at me. It was my buddy.
I remember playing the original battlefront 2 as an engineer I would use my repair tool to splice into the AT-AT. This would kick the pilot out of it so that way I could drive it for the rebels I would then turn my cannons on the other AT-AT, taking out a major point of their assault.
Honestly knowing so much about modern Star wars lore kills some portion of my enjoyment of the original bf2, those class models and starships are all over the place.
Tying up the legs was supposed to be a showcase of how the rebels are gurilla fighters using what is at hand to beat their enemies the snow speeders weren't specifically designed to fight at at's but sadly we rarely see any more of than that one example in games
I miss being able to hop in a speeder or have fights in space and hot into the other star ships than go fly more, it was an immersion experience playing the old game, the new one failed that
Aside from battlefront 2, I loved the AT-AT gameplay of the really short mission in Jedi Fallen Order. I felt so badass and the reactions from the empire thinking you're one of them to turning around and looking at you before they figure out they're AT-AT had be hijacked. It was a really immersive mission.

The older one definitely felt better, had more control and didn't have a timer like in the newer ones.
The entire reason Battlefront exists is to put you in the most iconic battles of the film series. Driving an AT-AT delivers on that.
As does destroying it with a snowspeeder cable...

it also makes sense. It resembles and animal and the neck is aswell the weakest spot. It cant be heavily amored because it has to move freely.

In the film clip you showed that was an at-act which has less armor compared to the at-at that is in Star wars battlefront.
