@@stephen90944 they won’t, but your absolutely right about the fact it would probably be waaaaaay easier to develop content for this vs new game engines. They could seriously make a lot of money vs hours put in. But they won’t do that.
i'm 21, and bf2 was my intro into gaming, it was one of my first games ever. i have fond memories, completing and replaying the story mode, hitting play all on instant action, strategizing on galactic conquest, i still play it to this day. im beyond excited to finally experience it on multiplayer
22 here, exactly the same. One of the first games I've ever played was BF2 on the PlayStation2, my brother and I duelling on split-screen.

I find it really funny how I've just started replaying battlefront 2 a month ago after not playing it for 7 years, the nostalgia. Unbelievable. Especially on the ps2.

It was awful on the ps2
when i played space battles as a kid i loved using the gunship to fly into the enemy ship with a raiding party, except half the time the bots would jump in so i’d fly with maybe a half full drop ship. I can’t wait to actually fly into the enemy ship with a full drop ship of teammates and raid them from the inside.
I played this game religiously when it came out but never got to play online, really excited for this
25 years old and all i remember from having an xbox and xbox 360 is playing these games with my friend's and having the best time im so excited to get to play them again!
26 years old. 2004-5. Battlefront 1 and 2. Hours upon hours of late night fun. These were my favorite Star Wars games of all time and I was gutted to find them more or less unplayable on modern PCs. But now they're back and my god, am I thrilled. This is probably the best thing Disney has done with the Star Wars license.

I spent hours upon hours playing the original Battlefront on my old huge PC. I'm so excited for this, and with multiplayer as well. Fantastic!!!!!
I don’t know if it’s just nostalgia, but I’m beyond excited. It’s the only time I have pre-ordered a game. One thing I’m really hoping for is updated controls (the old controls do feel clunky by today’s standards)
its nostalgia. you paid $35 for a rerelease. nothing is updated besides a few maps being added to mode rotations and slightly upscaled graphics. everything else is the same. the new characters asajj and kit fisto are just a port of an original xbox mod. just reskins of other heros despite an update version of the mod exists giving the characters their own model and animations.

@@windfallthomas676 I mean, yeah I guess, but I never had the PC version, and I use a Mac for work (so I can’t easily run it), so stuff like XL mode and online multiplayer is new to me. Plus, it only cost £26 on PlayStation, so having 2 of my favourite games of all time, with slightly improved graphics, new modes, characters and online play, conveniently available on my PS4 seems like a pretty good deal to me. So I’m still pretty excited. 🤷♂️

Bf2 was literally a blast back on the ps2 i remember playing galactic conquest A LOT
As a Playstation guy I am beyond excited to have the 4 maps added. Those are 4 of my favorite maps in either game and getting to play them with increased reinforcements to truly have epic battles at those locations will be a dream come true.

Went to block busters with my big bro renting battlefront 1 is one of my most cherished memories with him playing split screen for hours. It just doesn’t exist anymore , I’m so pumped!

I was wondering if star wars battlefront classic collection is going to allow players to mod the game and play online like the og release of battlefront 2 on steam did. I mean could you imagine the maps we would have on multiplayer if it was?

I mean if they allow mods. Allow mod support on console and switch like some of the bethesda games.
It's literally the same game but with a broken mod added to it. Theres literally no reason to buy this. Just play the original games on PC, all the mods are there already.

This honestly gives me some hope that there will be a retro collection that collects the entire library of late 70s-90s Star Wars games. From the original arcade games to the Atari all the way to the Nintendo entertainment system to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the Sega 32X and the Nintendo 64.
These 2 games came when I was already playing Socom series. Socom 1-3 are still my favorite multiplayer memories. Of course I was younger. Online shooting games wasn’t really big on console yet. Socom was just huge. So when this came out I went crazy. Socom but Star Wars lol. The two series were all I played for few years. Im hoping this does very well. Maybe Sony would possibly remake Warhawk and Socom again. I know they won’t feel same to me at an older age. But I still would love for this to open the door for those. Imagine bungie and guerrilla working together on a Warhawk game.

Star Wars BF2 was my first online experience in gaming, back on the ps2, was amazing playing those big battles. Remember getting yelled at by my parents when I forgot to plug the phone lancord thingy back in the phone after gaming, but was always worth it just to play this online
I’m 24 and I had Star Wars battlefront when I was like 5/6 I loved it and when battle front 2 came out we rented it at a dvd store. I loved it so much my parents rented it at least another 4 times because I begged them to !! They gave in and took me to GameStop after that 4th rent. This game has such a special place in my heart and to see it on the ps5 has me feeling so excited and overwhelmed. I’m gonna be on it from sun up till sun down on weekends for sure.
I never got to play multiplayer as I didn’t get internet till I was 15. So that’s gonna be a new experience for me. But I also had soooo many hours on instant action. As someone who loves Star Wars and how mid it’s been lately, this makes me very happy

I remember playing the original Battlefront, and it was one of my favorite Star Wars games and games overall. I always thought the gameplay was quite advanced and unique for its time, and unfortunately, no other subsequent Star Wars game could recapture it for whatever reason. I loved Battlefront because you could play any soldier on either side, use any vehicle, and choose from various maps, and I felt like I was playing in the Star Wars universe because of how immersive it was. I’m so happy they’ve rereleased it, and I’m sure the extra features will be an excellent addition. I look forward to playing it on PS5.

Sharing vehicles is something i really missed in ea battlefront! Not only fun but more immersive sharing a vehicle. Good memories of someone piloting the snowspeeder while the other tried to harpoon the at at legs!

Star wars battlefront was the first game I ever got into as a kid and for some reason I had a fascination for the Jedi Temple map. I might have a thousand hours on that map alone just replaying it on instant action repeatedly
This was the best Star Wars video game news in a long time.
For me the main issues in that said collection is that...1. It can gut the modding scene that did a lot of QoL stuff. 2. (non issue) 5x more size for just AI textures that are not well done. 3. The new content added from xbox to collection is based on OLD version of the mod, not the new one that had access to console files(basically more likely to find reskins of heroes/villains than actually unique version from new mod version)
I remember playing battlefront 1 and 2 on ps2 and online. You had to connect your Playstation to the modem. They even had a free open beta/demo for battlefront 1
I remember the days of halo and the og bf2 split screen on lan party it was a blast i loved it when me and my friends brought over our respective consoles. I cannot wait.

Honestly this means so much to me I'm 22 turning 23 in June and I lost my fiancée at the age of 18 and older brother at the age of 19 all 3 of us played the original battlefront 2 for hours and to be able to play an upscaled version of my fiancée's favorite star wars story makes me very happy I wish she was still Alive to share this with and wish I could load up instant action with my brother again

Same here. Got an Xbox in 2004 but wasn't on Xbox Live till 2008 around the time GTAIV came out. People take internet for granted these days.
I played back in the day on my PS2 and I tried online a few times. Little known feature of the PS2 was the ability to hook up a CAT5 cable and get internet access to play online. The game was pretty trash online though since spawn were fixed so you would just drop into a match with spawn snipers, instantly killing you the second you entered the match.

Main issue I have with it is there’s no party system I don’t think which would be a massive bummer to not be able to invite your friends

Imagine being on the same server but you can never make sure you're on the same team or you're always on the same team when you want to be against each other.
For ps players I’m assuming share screen could also help with that.
@@shadow50011 do you realize how ridiculous it is to play this game with more then one friend online? 90% of the time you end up playing against your friends in a 1v3 and it’s not fun, you never get to be on the same team with your friends. Also the combat online is still gonna be a jittery mess like it is now. People crouch roll spamming with shotguns while you struggle to get one bullet to register. Don’t you think it’s gonna get fixed either because it’s not.

Sad that it isn't available on the current BF2 on steam, would be incredibly impressed if they do this.

I can’t believe these games are coming back! I’m SO EXCITED for this, cannot WAIT to play Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) AGAIN! I didn’t even play the first original game, so, playing the first one will be a new experience for me. Because I’ve only played the second one, I’m also EXCITED to play the second game in online multiplayer!

Looks fun. Do really wish they had cross platform play. I want to play this on my PC, but also on my Switch so my kids can all play.
I just want to play these games online with full lobbies. Thats so exciting for me, i only ever played the first and second game against bots or with my cousins. Its gonna be chaotic and fun.
The old Star Wars battlefront games are probably my favorite and I have played all.(I play the old battlefront 1 and 2 on an x box 360 with a disc and don’t have the two characters fistoe and Assain )
I am happy and mad because I love the games so much that I bought a psp to remember the feeling and now it’s releasing on newer consoles

Jabbas Palace was available on Battlefront 2 I remember playing it a handful of times but I mostly played Mos Eisley

The maps they added to the new bf2 are available in classic bf2 as well as ventress and kit fisto
Well for hero assault, on xbox with tbe dlc came the abilty to play hero assault on other maps like kayshykk, or coruascaunt, and yavin arena etc.
Playing this against bots was literally my childhood aswell. I remember hiring battlefront from blockbuster back in the day

It’s a slightly better looking re-release. Why would someone who already plays the old PC version buy this? You can easily just mod in the Xbox DLC, graphical improvements, and Hero Assault on every map.

My only gripe about this would be if they kept Anakin Skywalker as a villain. I would like it if Anakin was kept as a Hero so he can fight alongside Kenobi, maybe add a knightfall vader on the villain team if you have to.
