Star Wars Battlefront Classic 1 and 2 retrospective and review. What makes the original old Star Wars Battlefront games so amazing? SWBF classic and Star wars Battlefront 2, 2004 and 2005 respectively, have a lot going on in their games that made these instant classics in the video game industry and for the Star Wars fanbase. Classic Star Wars Battlefront gameplay in the early 2000s was developed by Pandemic Studios and are some of the most iconic Star Wars video games of all time.

I’ll tell you why. They were simplistic enough to understand, but mature enough to enjoy. No post-launch DLC, simplified graphics, and a gameplay loop universally appreciated and understood.

Back when games were actually completed when launched

I STILL play Battlefront II to this DAY. Especially with this amazing mod called Star Wars Saga Edition that retools the AI, classes, makes skins more accurate, etc and it's absolute bliss

Battlefront II's campaign was also elevated by the addition of Temuera Morrison. Getting the actual voice of the clone troopers really lent weight to the Journal of the 501st. I still remember his logs on from the Felucia campaign or the attack on the Temple.

I was born in 93. I think i got to experience the best games in history at the best times. I graduated in 2011. I remember playing banjo kazooie, dk 64, Smash bros 64 as a kid. But then by highschool i was playing MW2, Halo 3, Bad Company 2, Battlefront 2 and Far Cry 3. Not to mention Skyrim and Fallout 3. And so many other games. I truly feel like video gaming peaked through my childhood

My biggest thing is couch freaking co-op. I get to experience the joys of these game twice. Once with my brother and now with my son.

There was nothing more satisfying than beating Galactic Conquest on elite difficultly without losing a single battle.

  • @docauch5938

There was no better feeling than getting an “impossible” kill on a hero in the first game. I remember grenade-ing Darth Vader off the edge on Cloud City once and absolutely losing my shit as a kid.

Good news came today my friend

The youngsters now adays don’t understand how satisfying the map loading screen is in battlefront 1

About what you said concerning BF2 (2005) having no microtransactions and etc: the game was launched finished. Then, some time after, on the Xbox there was a DLC with new maps and characters, but that was released after the game had launched finished. The DLC was just an extra, not a requirement to enjoy the game and the DLC wasn't released on launch.

It’s actually possible to kill the heroes in classic battlefront, and to make it a confirmed kill. You have to use a speeder bike, lock onto the hero by shooting while you’re speeding at them in order to center your reticle and then drive through them, resulting in you getting the kill.

It felt like a war, so many troops just throwing themselves at one another. Pure chaos

Crazy you’ve posted this a couple of months ago - now we’re getting a rerelease supporting a massive multiplayer online component! Can’t wait to revisit this and experience those epic battles all over again 😭

Battlefront 1 also gave us a lot of the Iconic maps that we know and love in Battlefront 2. Naboo: Theed, Hoth, Jaba's Palace. Bespin Platforms. Mos Eisley. They're all so good.

  • @tendracalrissian8820

These games come from an era where graphical fidelity was fairly low because they were working with limited technology. As such, the developers could focus the time and energy of their team on making gameplay that was remarkably good. The story of BF2 is my favorite part.

Maybe you didn't know it, but you get the power ups permanently once you get 64 career medals. So 64 war hero medals and you have the damage buff all the time.
