One of the best city courses I've ever seen. What a race it was!
I wasn't really sure about the Chicago street race when it was announced, but seeing the layout and the closer we get to race day, I'm getting really excited about witnessing this historic inaugural race for NASCAR as a whole
No good....
The race could be highly entertaining, but I wouldn’t go to that schitte-hole to watch it live …
@@sking2173Hahaha, dude Chicago is a beautiful city. Just don’t go to the ghetto on the south and west sides. It’s a giant city. For perspective, on Sunday morning I drove from downtown heading south on the 90/94 expressway. I drove for 25 minutes at a constant 75 miles per hour with no traffic and I was still within city limits. Like any big city, you need to bring you’re common sense and you’ll be perfectly fine.
When is race day
@@sking2173I live two blocks from the Chicago Street course, and it is, no joke and no exaggeration, the loveliest place I have ever lived. It’s extremely clean, it’s well-landscaped, it’s very well-policed (I got mugged in Raleigh, NC, the last place I lived, but I have never even *seen* a crime or fight in the Loop) and it’s beautiful.
There’s a real world out there, and if you let the divisive politically-motivated media tell you where not to go, you’re going to miss a whole lot of it.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this layout.
then you're alot more optimistic than I am
Same here
Why? I'm all for NASCAR to try something different.
@@davisbowe8668 I'm optimistic b/c the track looks reasonably wide, looks like there's gonna be some quality passing zones, and it looks like it's gonna be decent mix of speed and technical. Could turn out to be pretty good!
It also seems extremely short
2 motorsport venues in the Chicago market (Sportsman’s Park and Chicagoland Speedway) have been consigned to the history books. And while I applaud NASCAR’s Hail Mary of an idea, I don’t think bringing the party to the heart of Chicago, a market that has shown it cannot support nor wants motorsport, was the right call, especially at the sacrifice of Road America which wholeheartedly embraced NASCAR’s arrival.
Very well said. I too scratched my head at the idea of Chicago hosting a race, but I’m optimistic that it’ll bring new fans to the sport! Being from Chicago, I’m super bummed out that I can’t be there this weekend to watch
Wow! After watching the route in this posting. I am impressed! This is going to be an exciting time for Chicago and NASCAR!
I see lots of good passing zones especially into turn 4
Thanks for all the terrible traffic!!!
Good to see NASCAR swinging for the fences with new tracks like this.
They replaced Road America for this, Road America a track with full support from fans. This experiment better work or Nascar will look like absolute idiots. I'm sure they'll look like idiots. These cars are not built for this.
@@cartmanrocker8674Too late.
@@cartmanrocker8674 nascar thinks the are GT car or v8 super cars grab your popcorn 🍿 going to be a shit show funny to watch
It’s gonna $uck….
@@brucemerryman7365 probably right lol
Road America > 3 Years Contract at Chicago Street Race ⛲️
This. I get what they’re trying to do by having a race IN Chicago, but fans that are going to keep coming back to races have no problem driving less than 3 hours to RA from Chicago. Plus, Road America is one of the greatest tracks in the country, if not the world, from both the track itself and the fan experience. I went both times Cup was there, camped for the weekend in 22, right at turn 3, there isn’t much better than sitting at the camper watching the cars coming down the hill into that corner and then them hammering it down the straight to turn 5.
are we going to forget that the Road America races were boring and that nothing happened?
INDY car has been in downtown Toronto forever, with Mosport Park under an hour away (the way I drive).
@@jabber1990 they need to figure out the TV side of things, there was plenty of interesting stuff in person, but I remember people complaining about the televised broadcast being boring.
This is gonna be interesting, I can't wait til NASCAR races on this street circuit for the first time in history.
It is concerning that NASCAR called it a "breaking" zone at 0:49.
Omfg lol
Fox does not care about nascar
🤦🏼♂️ I noticed that as well. They had all the time in the world to notice that mistake
@@aaronarmstrong9776 Are you a bot? This has nothing to do with Fox.
It’s been the breaking zone every time I’ve tried it in the sim😂
I can bet that after the race, there not coming back again
excited to see these cars handle a street course
They'll have their wheels stolen before they get to the 2nd turn
@@VanquishedAgain 😂😂😂😂😂 exactly
@@VanquishedAgain stop talking dirty to my city pls
@belluh-1huey102 aha tell your City to stop
@@VanquishedAgain or the catalytic converter lol
Street racing will make me a fan of Nascar for sure, I dislike the sterile loop Nascar has boxed itself into, this is a REAL race, I can't wait to witness the chaos
I’m really interested to see how the drivers will overcome those almost 90 degree turns.
slowly :)
They are wide
I’m sure all the NASCAR fans in downtown Chicago will enjoy this 🤔
yes, they will both love it
And the rest of the fans from outside will be too frightened of Chicago by Fox News to visit
Tyrone and Shaniqua already done gots dems tickets.
Absolutely… all 3 of them are going to be in “hog heaven” just as soon as it comes time for the track announcer to say, “START… YOUR… ENGINES”!!!
😂😂😂
As someone from Chicago I will be one of the three people excited
Can't wait yet $250 a ticket was to steep for my blood considering you can only see one turn or straight away at a time sorry nascar
Please let Garage56 to do the opening.
I’m a few blocks from 294, you’d think that by the sound of it NASCAR kiddies are already aiming for the first race.!
Going to bring in big number of new nascar fans!
Gonna be some crazy passing opportunities here. I'm excited, got my seat!
If you definition of crazy passing is everyone just full throttling the turn and slamming into each other than yes
@rollingthunder8378 would they be going past one another while they do it? passing😂
@@cosmicdisaster02 if the car in front is in the wall then yes lol
@@rollingthunder8378 passing lol. I have 0 expectations that they will be able to stay out of the wall
Its going to b Awesome. Chi-town y'all.
I think you misspelled “187-town”!?!?!?
😂😂😂
This is going to be so sick! Can't wait!
Same here.
Definitely should be entertaining
Any passing zones on this track or will just be moving people with the bumper and 20 cautions until we get a winner?
seems interesting, idk how long this will be around but its definitely something interesting (in a good way)
I don't know whether it will be a good race or a total disaster, but I certainly doesn't look like it will be boring.
Can't wait for whatever this will be.
BRING BACK CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY
If this isn’t a disaster it will be a miracle.
Road america solos
If this was the norm for nascar, I’d most definitely be a fan.
I hope this becomes an annual thing, even if it cycles through different cities every year. ... Just heads up don't schedule it on holiday weekends in the future
What would be ideal other cities if this is a success? Montréal? Manhattan? Nashville?
@SamuelDuplessis12 I wouldn't say Nashville because they're pushing to open the Fairgrounds back up. New Orleans could be a good spot, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, Seattle, Boise, LA. Whoever wanted to/ is willing to host it really. I'd say anywhere that isn't too close to an active track.
Detroit would be good I think,as long as good turns the,Detroit is where most stock cars were first made
@@brianstabile165Plus the Indy race in Detroit a few weeks ago was Awesome!!!
@@iap6647I doubt stock cars would fit on that course
Not bad for a first try, Who the hell knew that some NASCAR race would take place in a big city like Chicago.
I am very happy to see more road courses and different types of tracks on the schedule. On paper the track looks a little boring, lots of 90 degree turns and straights, but branching out for the sport is good regardless. I'd like to see the cup cars run long beach street circuit some day.
Other than the stupid Coliseum race, I agree.
Very excited for this and future ideas for city road courses
First mobile cell phone, brownies, twinkies, House music, Blues, pizza pitas
I can't wait just got my tickets today
Didn’t F1 drivers complain about the danger of long straights into tight turns at Vegas. This seems like the most dangerous course to run this year. Hopefully no injuries happen
Much different sport than NASCAR, and would be extremely hard to get an injury out of any road course these days in NASCAR.
@@TweezersUnlimited I disagree, brake failure was huge at gateway and that was from long straights and and a normal oval turn. As long as the brakes hold I don't see any injuries happen, but Noah is out with a concussion from his crash.
@BALA_JJ_45 this track is low speed mostly with only like 2 hard braking zones
@@TweezersUnlimited there is a reason chicanes exist before a turn at the end of a long straight. JD McDuffie Watkins Glen. All those right handers put driver's side to outside wall, we will be lucky if nobody gets hurt
Maybe you should make a video titled "Shot by shot" for the Chicago race.
Bro 💀💀💀
...because people who actually live in Chicago LOVE NASCAR!
one and done
Hopefully! 💚💛
Think it was confirmed for a 3 year contract
@@Mapavia89 That was also before the recent political upheaval in the city. The incoming mayor is not a fan, and there was talks about it almost not happening this year either.
@@fordaith well let’s see how this year goes first then decide for next year. Maybe nascar could join F1 and do a NASCAR street race in Las Vegas.
Should've just went back to Chicagoland
Look at all those 90 degree turns 💤
This looks good for a street course. Many 90deg turns but it looks like it's plenty wide.
Miami, Dallas, kc, dc, Des Moines, Denver, Boston, Atlanta, etc ...i can see city other cities wanting to host these in the future. this was phenomenal.
Can't wait for the Chicago/NASCAR high speed parade
...But enough about Chicagoland. 😜 I kid, I kid.
Turns 10 11 and 12--I call it the "soft S Curve" series of turns. A Formula 1 racer who turned to racing stock cars may have mastery of that, because formula 1 racers had done Grand Prix races with turns much more difficult than the 12 turns in the Chicago NASCAR street race course.
this should be pretty dope man... can't wait
Looking forward to this race.
New circuit for everyone means: ??? fill the blanks everyone! Well worth the watch for sure. Peace Out!!
In New York city around Central park would be awesome but that's a dream.
✍️
LOL having this is NYC is a recipe for disaster 😂😂😂😂😂
I live in NYC. I'm highly doubtful that they'll approve it but it would be freaking awesome if they did
And actually around central park would be super awesome! It wouldn't mess up traffic like that
Technically speaking this isn’t really the first street course. The Daytona beach course also included a rip down a paved public street before turning onto the beach
I just watched indycar do a Chicago street race it was fun to watch.i expect the same for nascar
no you didn't. IndyCar has never had a street race in Chicago. They just did one in Detroit a couple weeks ago if that's what you're thinking of.
@@jordanmaker6444 I'm sry was it Detroit two weeks ago. My fault, just started watching indy lol hoping for more fun races like that tho....only two cautions whole race
@@corycybulski961that was an awesome race!
Yes please. More road and street courses in NASCAR please.
After seeing the garage 56 lemans entry they have no excuse not to run a full field of those
NASCAR is now closed wheel Indy car and I’m here for it
Seems like it'll be a whale of a challenge to drive. I don't foresee a ton of passing but watching a bunch of bins should keep it interesting
Too bad it's not on the whole lake shore drive. We could finally cure our terrible pot hole problem.
Actually, not the first street race: the Nationwide Series raced on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for a few years and the Pinty's Series races on the Toronto Street Circuit and is the main event of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières
I agreed with you !
Last year was a hit. This year we’ll see what it brings.
Cool Video! Now can i look at the golf carts that are building the grandstands😅
More road courses but they also need to bring back some dirt tracks back
Bring back Chicagoland
So what happens when they plow through the turn 1/6 wall and push it into the other turn?
not sure about NASCAR on the streets. but that would be a great Indy car layout. Double header ?
This is straight out of a video game!!
So excited for this.
Looks like NASCAR may have a hit on its hands with this Chicago Street race.
This has to be coolest setting of a street course, maybe Monaco is cooler due to hills. But this will be amazing
Breaking zone.. I mean maybe that's grammatically correct either way haha
Breaking*
*and entering zone. Just south of GIMMIE ALL YOUR MONEY straightaway.
I’ll be watching from home….👍🏽🔥
This will be fun to see
As a big Nascar fan I cant wait to see this race. You might be on to something Chicago.
That's no Road America
Not a big fan on Nascar but this is dope
Let's get you onboard 🤙
Sweet Andre nickatina background music
Turn 11 is the Route 66 begins sign. They should do a promo there like Red Bull does. Really lean into the Americana in Chicago.
I predict that NASCAR's Chicago race will be the Biggest Disaster in modern race History.
Awsome ! Thanks Man
Awesome video! Thanks
Honestly whats the point? Is this cheaper than building a racetrack in Illinois? Disrupt daily traffic to attempt at a possible decent turnout of fans?
I really hope they dont muffle the exhaust like they apparently do now. The sound off all the buildings will be loud and amazing!
This is gonna be fire
Pocono straights and martinsville corners.
Save your brakes but i think it will be great.
i wonder if the cars will end up evolving into things similar to GT500 cars that are built more for technical tracks with all these new non-oval circuits in the mix
We almost there ,
Gonna be dope AF!
Finally! A true "road" course!
Great. A course full of long straightaways and 90 degree turns. This is going to be a nightmare.
Yeah, it's not a great layout. That's what makes some street courses so boring. Seven 90 degree turns per lap here. Yeesh...
I hope you have some biiiiiig tire barriers, especially turns 1 and 6.
This is going to be Awesome 😎
As a Brit - and an avid NASCAR fan - do the US fans know what he's saying about whatever avenue it may be? Having listened to what he's saying, first turn to last turn doesn't make a lap... forgive me if I'm wrong
Need to do this in Louisville Kentucky aka lil Chicago
theyve repaved nearly the whole thing for it too wow
This whole course is gonna be a dive bomb city and huge wreck fest.
The cars won't be able to pick up enough speed to really wreck too hard. They will be bumping each other all day, kind of like at Bristol, and the cars will be beat up.
Does the course go thru West Garfield Park ?.
I drive these streets everyday. The only noticable difference will be the cars have sponsors. Otherwise the race is just weekday driving experience in Chicago. Oh. Look out for the Chicago city bird, 9mm round. Good Luck Racers!
What! Driving down Lake Shore Drive or Columbus Ave are about as tame as it gets. Sure traffic backs up during rush hour but that’s about it. Stop with the nonsense!
I’m hyped!
Cool idea but sadly going to be a mess of a parking lot similar to the Indy road course & COTA this year. Can't have these types of cars racing so many hard-braking, 90 degree turns. Outside of drivers' actions, you're just asking for it. Still excited to see the result, fingers crossed 🤞
1st cup race on a street course, the west series ran long beach street course
Where are the teams parking the car haulers? Will there be a car hauler parade?
They're probably going to park them like they do by Navy Pier One there's a convention.
Chicago's very well-equipped for trade shows and they bring a lot of trucks in for that
Do the walls move between turns 1 and 6 if there is a major collision?
