A band called "The Maine" did a great cover of this song with bigger production and better vocals. Definetely worth a listen! Your channel is great and love your positive vibe! Keep up the good work!
I just discovered your channel today. You do the best reactions. Almost every video I’ve seen so far is one of my favourite songs. I listen to all kinds of music. 80’s & 90’s being my favourite and your reminding me of some that I haven’t heard in a long time. I’ve been watching for hours already. Check out Colin James “why’d you lie”. I’ve commented on other videos already with recommendations. Great job!
This man only did one album and went back to production. The entire album is a masterpiece from front to back. It's introspective and intelligent, but most only know this song. Shameful!
If you like this then please watch and review Tonight The Streets Are Ours by Richard Hawley. Reckon you'll love it 👍
Every grocery store I've ever worked at played this song. So nostalgic.
LOL!!!
Hahaha so true
Such a great Retail Song!
Makes people wanna shop, and gets employees all jazzed up to straighten up the store!
They should be playing Closer by Travis too - especially for the sake of the video 👍
So damn true..
The ultimate one-hit-wonder...but what a hit. In my top 5 favorite songs of all time. Its message, its groove, its everything is just AWESOME. When this came out in the 90s, I was working in a Blockbuster Video, and they would make us play a video on a loop that had music and scenes from new release movies. The three months that this song was on each monthly videotape that we had to loop...I never got tired of the song. I would often find myself singing along while re-shelving videos.
Check out the album if you want to hear more, lots of great stuff on it!
@@ohfour-seven6228 The album is amazing
@@paulemerson2902 Yeah right? I wish more people knew about it. It may be a one hit wonder for radio play but the whole thing is really good.
Actually their second song charted, but they broke up right after the second single dropped LOL
@@Uhohlisa the first track on the record goes so hard. I love it.
I’m actually crying while I listen to this song and your reaction.
About 10 years ago, my life had been falling apart. I’d lost everything. My wife had an affair and left with the other guy. I lost my kids. I was down to exactly $2 and was wondering where my next meal was going to come from. It was the dead of winter and I had no heat or electricity in my place. My showers were with ice cold water. I wanted to die.
I was awakened in the early morning having somehow hit my phone’s play button and what do you know...this song was playing. “You only get what you give.” “Don’t give up.” It was my rallying cry. I dusted myself off not knowing the obstacles that lied ahead-I had further to fall-but this song literally and figuratively awakened me. It will always be one of the most important in my life.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. And if you’re going through challenges, believe there’s something much better for you. Just don’t give up. And when life tries to pummel you, look it square in the eyes and say not today. Not today.
Thank you for sharing this
@@saritatambayong4002 you are welcome. Be awesome today.
Dude…. Thank you. I really needed this. Also you have great taste in music.
@@tylerp3327 thank you my brother.
Congratulations, you deserve all the success that is coming to you sir, happy holidays.
There's no way you can't love this song. Probably the best song of the 90's
A message the world needs right now
Timeless! I loved it 20yrs ago in my 20's lol 👵 🌼😛
@@georgehasleftthebuilding6621 Me too. Teenager in the 90's. Amazing music. Still enjoy a rather large playlist on Spotify with only 90's music. It never grows old to me 😉
@@Duchess28 Yeah, 90's were soooooo emo! I was (and still) pretty torn up about Chester n Chris' deaths n the circumstances. Scott Weiland smh . always the lead singers...
This is a real 90s gem. You should try EMF´s "Unbelievable", Fastball´s "The way" and Stereo MC´s "Connected".
Cool❤❤❤
This is a great song. This guy was very talented and just kinda faded from the scene, but word is he become very successful behind the scenes as a producer and writer.
Greg Alexander 😊 he sung this on President Biden's inauguration
@@thecraftyvirgoat I just read that. Kind of out of the blue.
He started hating touring as he just hit big with this song. He had been touring for years. He prefers to write songs so writes songs for other people instead.
@Cody Pritt I don't think it was the fame as such but hated touring I've read.
Smart
I really like your reactions. And you have the shortest intro before you play the song you're reacting to compared to others. You also have not changed since you started, thats a good thing. You're authentic and unique.
Cheers!
"Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson, Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson. You're all fakes run to your Mansion. Come around we'll kick your asses." Still makes me smile.
Song ALWAYS makes me smile and dance around!
Loved it back then, love it still.
Oh my gosh the nostalgia!!!!! I loved this song! So much fun!
Haven't heard this for about 20 years! Nice one.
Joni Mitchell cited this song as one her newer faves when it came out~👋I dig it!
One of the few artists to be a deliberate one hit wonder. They could have gone multiplatinum on multiple records and sold out arenas for years if they wanted to. When record labels continually beg you to do another album, you know you have a rare talent.
Ok for those who don't know , Gregg Alexander , the writer & singer of this song also wrote " The Game Of Love" for Santana featuring Michelle Branch. If you listen to it closely you will hear how she sings high parts in that song similar to the ones in this song. On the album the song is credited to Alex Ander , a play on his last name.
Yesss another great song. I love Michelle Branch!!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge!!👍🎶🎤
Love that as much as Smooth. I actually suggested it when he reacted to Smooth 🤷🏻♀️
Gregg Alexander the man that legend’s are Made of
He wrote also Inner smile - Texas another masterpiece
For the future: The place they are performing was called a “mall” .
😄😄😄😆
This and Steal my Sunshine were my happy songs that year - can’t be in a bad mood after listening to this
Mine too!!!
Was a good time for me then those are my guilty pleasures lol
technically different years..this song was 1998 steal my sunshine was 1999..those years blend together for me. The late 90s were a..strange time. Almost felt like life was perpetually suspended in a candy land beach party
MY FAVORITE CRAZY DANCE SONG! This is my happy place song when I have the blues ✌...'HOLD TIIIIGHT"
and everyone should live by the lyrics.🌏🌎🌍 'ONE DANCE LEFT, THIS WORLD'S GONNA PULL THROUGH"
The energy, truth and freshness of this song. Timeless.
The 90s was awesome! I sing this almost every day. Love this 😉💖😁
I like this song, it has a different vibe. Something of a feel good music ❤️
Uplifting! What we need today and everyday.
Man, this song is PURE NOSTALGIA!!! Everytime I hear this song, my heart jumps for Joy!!! ❤️🎧🎶💕🤩
Thanks to whoever suggested this. I'd forgotten about that song, and it's put a smile on my face after a rough day.
Such a FEEL GOOD song! “God’s flying in for your trial”... love it!!
This band and their album is truly one of kind of gem!!!
Thank you for bringing back this song. It is one of my favourite. I always listen to it on the full volume. Imagine playing it driving in open top car. 💖
New Radicals lead singer, Gregg Alexander won a grammy award for his song "The Game of Love" that was performed by Carlos Santana and Michelle Branch. That might be a fun one to react to.
Totally agree, what a song that is, so glad Gregg won a Grammy for co-writing that one. Get to it Jayvee!
The lead singer is an incredible song writer !!!
You’re a great guy with positive energy. Love the content brother
This song has always made me happy 😊
Im glad there are subscribers that remember/request these oldies.
One of my all-time favorites. I bought the album when it came out and this song still doesn't get old.
This is one of my favorite songs! I'm glad you like it.😃
I was watching MTV2 one day and this song came on and I was hooked immediately, like everyone else, of course. There was nothing like it on the radio or in Pop music and I still think it’s one of the greatest songs ever written and produced and I still dig the video, to! It really does bring back so many memories of my mid 20s.
Loved this song when it came out. Just makes you happy to listen to it. I'm happy they played at the inauguration after being away for 20 or so years
Isn't this song just FABULOUS? Ahhhhhhh. Deceptively "life-giving" for a pop song.
'When you feel your tree is breaking, just bend'. A great mantra for these days. I love this song.
Not a mobile phone in sight, those were the days
This song has a GREAT message! I hope everyone dont just listenBut HEAR .
You can almost smell the hot pretzels and Cinnabon. Probably 3 anchor stores with perfume departments. RIP American malls.
I believe I did see the mall featured on one of the dead malls channels.
Great comment! Cinnabon... 😛
I just cried. Finally someone react to this song. Great reaction! You make my day.
I love this song so much! It makes me feel high & inspired! 💕💕💕😄
This song and What's Up (4 Non Blondes) typify the 90's sound for me.
And Green Day's "Good Riddance."
You must be American to not mention Oasis and Radiohead regarding the 90s sound.
@@Music-tg5is I'm actually Canadian... which is why I didn't say The Hip (Tragically), which was actually my favourite band of the 90s.
@@Music-tg5is For some reason The Tragically Hip never made it big outside of Canada. We're secretly happy about it though because we kind of liked having them all to ourselves.
For me, it was the 70s that was typified by British music. My dad was into progressive rock so I grew up on that. He had the quadraphonic speakers and everything.
@@evek2501 Sorry, I got bored and never read past your first sentence. Who's Canadian though? Not this Brit, that's for sure!
I looooooooove this song
If you like this , you should definitely check out Third Eye Blind Semi- Charmed Life, or Deep Inside of You. Love the late 90's early 2000s vibe😎
Long version!! ✌
Yes, please do Third Eye Blind!!
Yes! Everytime I hear a song by them it takes me back to the 90's and being in my 20's. Good times.
@@juniper728 They have so many hits! How's it Gonna Be is another fave of mine ❤
I love Third eye blind!!!
I love how much you danced to this without even noticing it at first. Ha! You surprised yourself! It's a great song. You would probably really like World Party "Put the Message in the Box"
FUN FACT: The lead vocalist was the original songwriter of a song Adam Levine sang for the movie "Begin Again" called "Lost Stars" 🔥😍🎶
Yeah he found the fame and celebrity uncomfortable, it was never really his thing being a frontman, but he's been incredibly prolific at writing for others. (Don't quote me, but I think "Love is a rollercoaster" is one of his)
My all time favourite song. Makes me happy no matter what! Thank you for reacting to it!
This song is a total vibe! Every time I hear this song I think of 4th of July vacationing in Ocean City MD with my best friend. I think it was 1999 or maybe 2000 and this song was playing everywhere especially the bars. Man that was an AMAZING summer!!!!
Great song. How about Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve if you've not already done it? Classic britpop, it was massive in the UK back in the day :)
I think he did it ✌ check playlist
@@georgehasleftthebuilding6621 Fair play, will check it out 👍
czcams.com/video/EkzpWSq7cMM/video.html
The lead singer of The Verve, Richard, was a year above me at college.
He did it, Oasis too lol
Check out the whole album the New Radicals put out, almost every song could have been a single! Gregg Alexander a very talented guy but I understand his reasons for wanting to leave the limelight
There are not many albums I can say that I like every song on it. This album was. AWESOME!! I completely understand leaving the lime light but I would have loved to have seen where his music would have lead him. Let’s not forget to mention what an awesome song writer he is as well.
I loved this album. Back in highschool I would listen to the cd start to finish all the time. Crazy that is was their only one.
That album has stayed in my record rotation since 98. Immediately loved it and played the hell out of it that first summer.
Wow! Brought me right back to when I left school and was scared as to what I'd end up doing. Happy to say I run a business. I still wake up scared everyday that it's going to fail. Never happy, still scared. This music is life. We only get what we give for real.
I'm sorry the fear is still there. It's tough when a business grows and responsibility grows as well. If the business fails, it's not just you it effects. Congrats on the success. Hope you find support for the stress.
Connect to the version of you that's ever fearless!!! You create your reality through your thoughts! They've been steering you in the right direction. Trust your instincts and thrive dear!!!
This whole album is a CLASSIC..you have to listen to “Someday”.. The best Rolling Stones song they never recorded!!!!
Agreed, A really great indie album. Shame there wasn't a follow up.
One of my fav songs of all time The lyrics never get old True true I listen to this song almost daily!,,great driving time too along with RADAR LOVE
Your comments show Ice-T, Joni Mitchell, and Bono as fans of this song -- so is The Edge (he said he wishes he wrote it); in fact, Gregg Alexander, the lead of New Radicalz, was friendly with all of U2. But what a BROAD RANGE of great musicians loving this great song. And Jayvee caught the vibe right away. More like this from today's musicians!
I have the CD - one of the very best albums I know - there is no weak song! And the lyrics! The album is called Maybe you´ve been brainwashed too and when you listen it´s like a huge amount of coffein - a dope. Gregg Alexander´s songs usually have this amount of energy no matter who sings them (I know he works a lot for Ronan Keating) but it is sad that it is not Alexander himself.
I LOVE watching your reactions! You feel the music almost like a religious experience like I do.
"You've got the music in you"
--- excellent lyric!!🎵❤
Omg I had forgotten about this banger!!!
This is a great song!
I forgot how joyful this song is 😍
You’re an intuitive soul my dude! 🙌🏻 🙏🏻
Loved this song when it first came out and loved it at the inauguration in January. Got emotional from the positivity!!
My brother died of cancer when he was 16 he picked this song to play at his funeral because it just made sense. 20yrs ago and he was #onpoint
🕯🙏
One of my all-time favorite songs, great choice! This album has a few more pearls for you to check out such as "Someday We'll Know" or "Crying Like a Church on Monday".
I haven't heard this for ages, thanks JV.
Beautiful uplifting positive song. Never gets old.
The fact that this song makes you happy, makes me happy! This brings me back to high school driving around with my friends. We so need this right now 💕💕
I knew you’d love cut. Carol King said she lost hope with today’s song writing ( when this came out ) but this song gave her hope.
This song was EVERYWHERE when it came out! A couple other good songs they had were "Mother, We Just Can't Get Enough" and "Someday We'll Know"
Loved this song since it came out. Have always forgot the title of this song through the years, so I have to sing it in my head to remember it.
The heaven of the '90s.
Damn, can we get back to that decade ...?
This and Sweat (A La La Long) from Inner Circle.
That decade was kind of like a sweet dream ...
Love this song - so many memories. Pre-financial depression era when life was easy, life was good and people were genuinely happy...then the crash happened and it's been crap ever since
Love the intro to this tune!
Exelent ! 👍👍👍👍👍
This song never fails to motivate me and I have exploited it several times since it debuted! 🙏🏼Enjoy. 😎
A stonewall classic. Incredible one hit wonder. Brilliant music, brilliant and important lyrics, brilliant name. The singer has done movie music like "Begin Again" which is a little gem.
I was at Hard Rock RockFest held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway back in 1999 when they were supposed to play, but broke up right before the show. I was and am still incredibly bummed.
Luckily the rest of the lineup was incredible.
The twelve-hour festival featured sets from the Offspring, Live, Third Eye Blind, Everlast, Eve 6, Better than Ezra, Sugar Ray, Silverchair, Collective Soul, Marvelous 3, Live, Taxiride, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Citizen King played in place of The New Radicals.
To be 21 at the time, it was an experience of a lifetime.
This guy is also Todd Rundgren. But a younger one ❤️
IKR, it’s so obvious to us 70s babies 🙏😊✨
Did you know that Todd Rundgren almost started MTV? But his pitch wasn't accepted. Mike Nesmith (of the Monkees) was a co-creator.
From England loooooved this song sooo makes every day better
One of my favorite songs of all time.
“Someday We’ll Know” is also a great track by them
Yeah!!!!!! 👍🍀💫
I love this song it will definitely stick in your head.
I love this song, it always gets me in a good mood! 💜
"That's Karma right there"
Damn right! You get back what you put out!
Tuuuuune !!!
This is a great song of it's time! It's just fun!😁💯❤ Glad you enjoyed it!
Such an underrated group! Loved this song years ago! 👏🏾💓🔥
In 1997 my best friend and I left London for a holiday in LA. This was everywhere it was brilliant. They died in 2011 of cancer, but I play this and think of them everytime
Hey Jay, May I suggest, I GOT A FEELING by The Black Eye Peas. You will absolutely love the song and the video is full of energy, Super AWESOME !
One of my favorites from the 90s!
For me this song is most optimistic song ever, so much power and hope.
This song was released during one of my black phases with depression, but as I kept hearing on the radio it helped to not give up.
An optimistic song when there was reason to be optimistic
"Don't give up. You've got a reason to live." ☮️
There's ALWAYS a reason to be optimistic ❤❤❤
@@nuttyfroot that's the attitude 😇😄
Love their song Mother We Just Can't Get Enough. This band is so part of that 90s atmosphere.
Awesome song
This song always cheers me up.
