Aretha sang just as powerfull as ever. She is the Queen no doubt, ask Carole King.
The blonde woman going bonkers is Carole King. They were honoring her career that night. She wrote this song for Aretha. I don't think I have ever watched such a stunning live performance as this.
My husband and I watch the Kennedy Center Honors every year on TV. This was a performance for the ages. The Queen of Soul honoring the woman who wrote this song for her. ❤❤
Even fighting cancer she was still able to bring down the house
Had cancer gave up piano but did it for carole what an amazing woman such a loss .😢
The greatest singer to have ever walked the face of this earth.
I think the very excited blonde lady in the audience was Carole King who wrote the song Natural Woman. Terrific song sung by the Queen of soul. Thanks guys for this one.
Aretha was amazing. Yes! Carol King was the one being honoured. A bit like Led Zeppellin at the Kennedy Centre. The Chaps reacted to Heart & co performing "Stairway to Heaven".
Yes this is the Kennedy center honors Carol king.She is fan girling to Aretha performing one of her songs that WA' hit for Aretha as well as Carol king.
I loved this reaction. This clip is honoring Carol King who wrote the song. She knew Ms. Franklin was going to appear but did not know she was going to perform. Ms. Franklin had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had retired but came back to honor her good friend. I believe this was her last public performance, which makes it even that much better.❤
I love this version she does. Carol King was stunned and couldn't believe she was actually there live for her. Obama had tears. When she took off her fur... The whole performance was magic. ❤
They had just found out she had cancer. She had quit playing the piano. It was just so touching that she did it for Carol. A true legend.
A piece of American history watching this tribute from our Queen of Soul to Carol King being honored that night. Unbelievable!
There will never be another Areatha!
There is no comparing anyone to her.
This womam is gold
Carole King wrote this song for Aretha, I believe. Aretha was ill with cancer when she performed this, so a truly outstanding performance. Not surprising Carole King, who was being honoured, was so surprised to witness this. How can she sing like this in her 70s?
1st thumbs up and 1st comment...Thank u guys for your support of great artists (Morissette etc). Little known fact....when Carol King turns her head a the beginning she said "Aretha never plays the piano". Aretha was a world class pianist and her voice overshadowed her piano playing. When she performed live she would just be asked to sing so she rarely got to play and sing. Also, to ALL those young singers who might be watching......this is how you perform!!!! Show up...throw your purse on the piano...take names and numbers, leave... and let someone else do the body count!
This performance is so, so incredible. And she does it with so much ease.
It`s also wonderful to see that young men like yourselves get enchanted by a 73-year-old wonder.
Beautiful reaction. Thank you❤
One of the greatest singers who has ever stood on a stage. 🎸❤
Carole King was one of the recipients at the Kennedy Centre Honours that night. She and her husband wrote Natural Woman for Aretha. Then Carole covered the song on her landmark album Tapestry. Carole was the excited lady with curly hair that appeared in a few camera shots.
Aretha Franklin comes from a family of gospel singer .her dad was a Baptist minister ,her sister Erma and Carolyn would sing back up for her. and Carolyn wrote the song 'Ain "t No Way " for Aretha!
Stephen Colbert was the host of the evening. When Aretha was introduced, he turn the stage manager and said he wished he had had the opportunity to see her in her prime. 45 seconds into her performance, he turned back to the guy and said, ‘I’m an idiot.’
Hadn’t played piano in public for several years, but sat down at the keys for Carole. 🌈💕✨
Just a tiny bit of trivia, one of the backup singers was Cissy Houston ( Whitney's mom).
Imagine being there to hear this performance.
😍😍😍
Absolute bloody legend! And she is literally a 'natural' woman. Walks on that stage like she's just taking a stroll. Phenomenal is EXACTLY right. What an iconic lady ❤
@EnderOllie 4
Now that is a legend.. mic drop
Ms. Aretha Franklin thank you for all the feelings you gave us through your songs. As a child, growing up in Porto, Portugal, I first heard your voice on the radio and I believe it capture me. I trust you are now in Peace. Thank you.
Your reaction was so incredible for the amazing Aretha Franklin. 🥰🥰🥰
@Kathy Oliver

We go all over the place.
All the best
@@BritPopsReact I never miss your reactions, Love you two.
Carol king could not have had any better to sing this song that she wrote than Aretha Franklin.
OMG! Simply amazing!
Such a warm soothing voice, lovely performance.
What an amazing performance and voice, I love watch ing this. You can see how much Carole King enjoyed it. Aretha is really my most admired voice. If I could ever sing a 10th of what she did I would be very happy.
Just a little side note.
Aretha hit 112 charted singles in her 60-year-long career.
Elvis hit 149 charted singles in his 24-year-long career.
Universal Treasure!!!!!
Amazing. ❤
Never heard this better or as good by any one else. The mic is forever dropped.
Goose bumps all over!!! And I've seen this several times before 😂. She's got so much soul in her voice
Reaction: Aretha franklin- amazing grave Live chruch
Stunning. That is a legend!
Thanks gentlemen, for the GREAT reaction.
Ahh-REE-Thaaa!!
The biopech from a year or 2 about Aretha was fantastic. And during the end credits. There are live performances of hers shown including this One. but everyone is so fantastic.
Great reaction guys. Aretha just leaves me speechless each and ever time I hear her sing. What a fabulous, iconic performance. Thanks for this one guys. Just WOW!!! Peace and blessings. ✌🤗
Check out Aretha singing "Think" from the movie Blues Brothers. In my opinion, her most fun performance ever.
This was the Obamas honoring Carole King at the Kennedy Center for all the songs she wrote and sang! Aretha made a rare appearance honoring Carole King! You should react to Carole King's Natural Woman she wrote it for Aretha but also recorded it herself Carole King is one of very few women who is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times!
*Bangin'* every day of the week. Brilliant Choice! Great Reaction. Aretha singing that well in her '70s. Amazing! Carol King ①, wrote "Natural Women". She was the curly haired blond woman being honoured, hence the ribbon, going nuts on the balcony with the Obamas. Aretha Franklin singing Carole King songs = Bliss 😂. My screen went all blurry! 😭 I've only seen Aretha play piano a couple of times. She was exceptional.
Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮
①Wikipedia Carole King:
_"King is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, having written or co-written _*_118_*_ pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100.[5] King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK,[6] making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1962 and 2005.[7]"_ 43 years! 🤔
IIRC, Carole King's album Tapestry was the highest selling Album until MJ's Thriller, and the highest selling for a female artists for about ¼ century.
Thank you for that, chaps. It made me very, very happy. 😂😂😂 Obama's speech, at Carole King's 2013 Gershwin award ceremony, is pretty interesting. I like the "under achiever" crack. _President Obama Honors Carole King_ czcams.com/video/fIFUSi9Bp4M/video.html (skipping over the politics) lasts 4m:28s
Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮
@BritPopsReact BTW chaps, the link under "Support the Artist or Video Creator by visiting the link to the original video:" isn't to this "Aretha Franklin Natural Woman Kennedy Centre Honors" video.
Best Wishes. ☮
@G Bulmer
Cheers G-Man, I will fix that now.
There was a Broadway show about Carol King music 🎶 🎵
Kennedy Center was honoring Carroll King, the songwriter and singer that night
@Mark Alumbaugh
Cheers MArk, I did have that on my notes to add in, but my brain melted right after Aretha sat down at the piano
❤❤❤❤
Kennedy center also honored Elton JOHN. The lady who done finale was amazing. Heather Hedley. Get time, look up please.
Yes, we watched Stairway to Heaven at Kennedy Honors……who was it again?………..Brit1; Heart! brit2…….very puzzled look…..can’t really place it….finally….oh yes…,Beth Hart. 😂. Obviously made a big impression on him. 😏
Aretha Franklin…….brilliant. Love this performance. Have some fun and watch the clip of her singing the song “Respect” from the movie The Blues Brothers.
@W. Geoffrey Spaulding
Ah, thanks for the fun comment, if you hang around us two for long enough, you will soon wee we both have no idea what we are doing most of the time, we spend zero minutes rehearsing and I am getting to that age where I find myself brushing my teeth 3 times as I forgot if I had already done them. Old age sucks.
Cheers for now.
Oh an cheers for now 😂.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣🎙👑🔥🔥🔥🔥
Prezydent Obama i cudowna Aretha ❤❤❤. Kocham jej głos.
Class act enough said
If you haven't done it already (I'm too lazy to check) might I point you in the direction of Miss Aretha dueting with George Michael on I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me). It's one of her best I think & I don't say that lightly because her songbook is exemplary.
Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart honored Led Zepplin. Not Beth Hart. I do enjoy your reactions. Keep them coming.
