I started a derby course 2 weeks ago and still cannot do the plow stop. I'm gonna go to the rink tomorrow morning and try some things youve said, thanks for this!

2 years later and I still can’t get this down. I’m convinced half of it is poor internal hip rotation, the other half is body and brain disconnect. My plow stops from speed are super wide, I can only do a narrow plow at slow speeds.
Hey, something (else) to work on! 😂

Soo… with one legged plows, are we shifting all of our weight to the nose/knee/skate side & putting less weight on the cigarette foot? 😅 (hope that made sense LMAO)

So I've gotten pretty good at plow stops practicing at home on laminated wood flooring but when I do it at the rink, which is much stickier, I can't seem to get the heel slide to work and I just end up banging my toes together. My wheels are 98a. Is it more likely I'm putting my weight in the wrong place or my inner leg muscles just can't hold the pressure required? Any tips without being able to see it? Thanks!

are your wheels new? are your knees bent? make sure your chest is up and not looking at your skates, its 100% a edges stop. so look at your trucks also, how is your sticky skating?

@@MarilynTantrum I've had my skates about a month and we've been skating a lot so I think they're used enough. My sticky skating feels very good forwards, and ok backwards. I think I'm keeping my head up and knees bent, at least most of the time. It's a constant reminder. My trucks are definitely loose. Enough that I can do crossovers and bubbles easily anyway. Maybe I need to focus on getting the weight on my toes so my heels can kick around?
      Thanks!

@@theimpulse77 think of it as a dramatic stop. like your heels are flicking out. I teach it as your back wheels are putting out a cigarette. see it that helps

@@MarilynTantrum I'll keep working on it. Thanks!
