My friend Jaap Janssen... ( We are both from the Netherlands) came up with this group... never heard of it. I was with artists as Sailor and so. This shook me to the bone. We both loved it and Status Quo would go with us trough our early years of our yought. First moped, First car, first to kiss a girl, school, homework, resitance to our parents, first job and start our own life. Sadly my friend Jaap passed away in december 2008. Status Quo became a symbol of our life. Thanks Status Quo. Thanks Jaap!
Back when audiences danced, got shitfaced and muddy. Not watching the concert through a bloody phone screen! Man, Quo really were fukin great live........ if you never saw them, boy did you miss something. They _always_ gave 1000% everytime!
Soooo many years ago....and yet when I hear their music and see the people enjoying, it feels as it was yesterday.... I miss the seventies when I was child ...teenager... Life is running too fast!
Did you ever watch a live performance on youtube and think bloody hell I wish I had been there? what a great gig this looks, superb audience and as for Quo, just great.
Man! The energy from the crowd at this gig is insane! Rossi says he looks back at this gig with embarrassment as they were coked off their heads. Still a stellar live performance from the lads I say! As someone who wasn't around to see them in their 70s/80s hey-day, eternally grateful got the chance to see the Frantic Four reunion back in 2013. Long live the mighty Quo!!!
Rossi described Quo as a "BOS band" (Bums On Seats). A very popular live act and for good reason. One of those acts with an ability to connect with its audience with little difficulty. I can't remember the year but they played a pub in Ipswich at a time when they'd sell out the local concert hall within hours. I'm not sure if the pub gig was a one-off or part of a tour of similar venues. People take the piss out of Quo for not being virtuosos although they never claimed to be, but a Quo gig was a great night out.
I first saw Quo supporting Hawkwind when Dog with two heads came out, on that showing I knew that they would be successful and I was proved right when Hello came out with the smash single Caroline entered the charts.
I first saw these guys way back in the early seventies. In my chair was going up the charts. There was a grand total of 6 of us there. We didn't think they would bother coming on stage. They did. What an evening that was. Fantastic time. I am now in my 70s and remember it as yesterday. One of, if not the best, rock bands ever. Thank you Status Quo
What a fantastic memory. Almost brings tears to my eyes imagining that experience for you. I loved these guys. Met them all and blah blah blah. First concert I saw them was mid 70’s after “roll over lay down” was released as a single. I’m still playing their stuff when I head home from work on a Friday afternoon . Sets the tone for the evening 👍🏻👍🏻🙏
Francis Rossi will never die! ❤❤❤❤ He is eternal Quo has been my life. I cannot imagine a Quoless world. Quo is every breath i breathe, their riffs and their lyrics are in tune to the beat of my heart.
I had the Pictures Of Matchstick Men on a 45 while growing up - in my teens, I bought the Hello album and was amazed that these were the same 4 guys - I have been a devoted fan ever since
Status Quo were the major soundtrack of my youth. My first record was the Quo Live Double LP which I like til the day. Its great. Thats a real album even to look at. I remember one boy in my football team laughing at me saying "I listen to Supertramp, ahh ha ha...". Fuck that. In 1982 I was 19 and went to my first concert ever, Quo. And later I even took my two boys with me to an Quo Open Air when they were little.
First saw them at the Kursaal in Southend when Piledriver hit. The wooden floor was literally going up and down, came out deaf and seen them 32 times since, but cant go anymore now Ricks gone.
Is Rossi the most underrated guitarist in rock history? A truly phenomenal player. Credit where its due. His riffs are unique, faultless and brilliant.
In a army now" gehört habe.
All of us who saw them live know how good they were in their prime. Saddened to hear that John Coghlan has retired due to ill health. Keep well John, one of the best.
I was singing this at work in '78 when I did a Tony Iommi impersonation in a machine I working on. My band was booked into a studio to record our first single the following Saturday. Just once I wanna play this loud before I die!
As a guitar player myself, that made my blood run cold! Don't wait my friend, life is too short.. play this loud whenever you feel like it! Your neighbours should consider it an education!!
Greatest band on earth. Love them since late 70s when I was a teen. They used to play in Hamburg every year. Got all their 50 albums. Just read Francis Rossi' s biography. 🖤♠️
Seen The Quo 60 times..... This is one of my favourites. No nonsense, head down, rockin.... Still play Quo EVERY day, Thanks for the memories. God Bless You Rick, miss you like f**k!
The world just doesn't seem the same, born in 76, Status Quo always been in my life. The day is different but still enriched by the contributions and legacy of these two men. Thinking of Francis Rossi, thoughts with Rick Parfitt Est.
Seen the quo since the 70s over 100 gigs, need I say any more absolutely brilliant and one time i moshed so hard I pulled a muscle in my neck, the pain was well worth it, im 61 now and guess what im still moshing and to any kids out there who haven't a clue what moshing is go ask your mum and dad 😊
They came to Canada, oh geez 40 yrs ago. I was lucky enough to see them…they were backing up Rory Gallagher…we’d never heard of them. When they were sponsored by AM radio I remember us all going “ oh Guwd’ what’s this ? Nevertheless they were jaw dropping and I’ve had every album since. RIP Rick….awesome awesome band ! 40 yrs and it was like yesterday. Enjoy this band kids , their the shiznia 🎶❤️😎
If you saw Status Quo in the 70's, it was like listening to a runaway jet ! You left the concert feeling really 'pumped' and wishing you could do it all again !!
Amazing to think they were backing up Rory, most folk have never heard of him in the UK, but he was up there with Jimi Hendrix in shear genius and ability. Another sad loss, far too soon.
I was lucky to see Status Quo open for Rory Gallagher, right around when Quo/Hello were released: THEY WERE AWESOME AND SO WAS RORY (PLAYING HIS IRISH TOUR ALBUM)....!
Iconic shot of Rick standing in front of the amps at 4:11:00. What an ICONIC photo!! Rock on Rick Parfitt, you absolute Rock Legend, you will never die, brother!!
Rumour has it they played a gig in the states, supporting whoever, and the band they were supporting, because of the fantastic reaction Quo was getting from the audience, pulled the plug on them, literally. Because of that, the absolute no no in the music business, Quo vowed never to play the states again. Don't know if this is true, but very believable ☘
No smart phone, no selfie, just people enjoying music... That's what music is for: enjoy and dance and sing!
Back when going to a gig didn't mean standing around filming it on your phone. Look at that crowd. Thoroughly engaged with the band. No distractions.
another dick that thinks if phones were around then they wouoldnt be filming it, foad.
Way more talent than modern bands too.
The day everybody played air guitar!!
And bloody good moshing and air guitar going down, have seen the quo since the 70s, enough said, piss all over today's crap
People still engage nowadays. Nothing wrong with filming at least part of a show
YOU don't get any better than Rick Parfitt! God Bless him
Just fantastic. Music for the people. No crap. Just rock and roll ❤️🙏🙏

Agree they where life one of the best in the world saw them lots of times
Mr. Hitchens Saw them at St James Park, Newcastle supporting Queen on the Kind of Magic tour. Boy could these guys rock. Sadly missed.
Saw them twice in Oz 40 odd years ago. They have no equal live ❤️

@@toonjans3287 that’s a load of bollocks as Rick left Quo six months before he died!!
i concur

Wie lange ist das her? 40 Jahre, 50 Jahre? Ich liebe es!
Bei diesem Konzert wäre ich gerne dabei gewesen 😄
One of the all time great rock and roll bands of the 70s!!

Status Quo Rocks ppl, 🎸🎸🎸 Rock n Roll forever.
Spud was the best drummer for Quo with Mat Letley in 2nd place
Francis guitar sounds better than in later years, here it still has the old pickups not the lace sensers he had later.
First saw them at the Kursaal in Southend when Piledriver hit. The wooden floor was literally going up and down, came out deaf and seen them 32 times since, but cant go anymore now Ricks gone.

Love quo. But he's no Joe Walsh
Definitely
❤
He is one of the greatest in having the right mindset. Always tasty and knowing what the song needs, instead of „look, what I can do“.
Quo were nothing without Rick Parfitt.

I'm 62, didn't discover till '82, used copy of Piledriver. Don't believe they ever played in my area Buffalo NY.
Rory Gallagher is no slouch either. Too bad USA never plays their music, at least in Houston Texas they never do.

My favorite song by Status Quo is Pictures of match stickmen. I heard it on the am radio when I was a teenager. Roll over is a good song also.
