S T O P 😤 T E X T B O O K 😤 R E A D I NG 😤 well at least taking hundreds of notes from a textbook that probably won’t gain you marks #workSMARTnotHARD
Eve Cornwell life advice from eve the true guru love your vids gurl
yeah I had the same problem.... I only summarized everything but not actually study it
Because I had a 3 hour commute to and from uni I learned all this in my first year. Like the text books do waffle but I do take their opinions on the key issues in that topic area.
Eve Cornwell I’m a small CZcamsr and love you so much Eve!💗
Eve Cornwell Hi Eve! Eve Cornwell! Can you also make a video on how to make a case for yourself to protect or defend yourself or your decisions in work or life in general? HOW DO LAW STUDENTS PROTECT/DEFEND THEMSELVES FROM BULLYING, ABUSE, INJUSTICE, UNFAIRNESS, DEFAMATION, AND MALICE???? So much evil in some people in the world 😫😫😢
litERALLY I HAVE NEVER MET A CZcamsR SO DEDICATED IN TRULY EDUCATING THEIR VIEWERS ON THE PROPER WAYS TO TAKE GOOD NOTES AND ANSWER QUESTIONS LIKE. YOU TRULY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND AND YOU'RE NOT STINGY AT ALL WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND IT'S SO DAMN HELPFUL AND WOW I APPLAUD YOU
why are you yelling?
OTTO It’s out of excitement
Please keep it low everyone is sleeping
this thread-
and yeah same, Eve's one of the best studytubers
Find urself a gal who can save your degree with the most amazing note taking tips and teach you how to make the best iced coffee
Beth Bates 😤😤😤 u understand me x
What is the iced coffee video ? I’m new here :)
It’s yourself
Thank god for this video, I’m so tired of the ‘studytubers’ who make videos on note taking just to tell you to make fancy titles with mildliners and that’s it. Pretty notes=/= good notes!
True, whereas whatever helps you.For example if you prefer re-writing it then you could do that but obviously what technique you do and revise has to work for you. "Studytubers" just give you advise based on what works for them so they just share experience with their viewers.
swan D maybe it's because ppl like the aesthetic of it. I'm the complete opposite of that. I'm the only person that can understand my notes and my table's a mess when I study
Most of them don't tell you that pretty notes = good notes. it's just their methods on how they study because it works for them. it doesn't work for everyone but there are many other techniques you can use like this one
its sad but tru. some spend half of the video drawing fancy titles and speech bubbles. i know i don't have time to do that so i do flashcards or i just write in only black pen and then when i get home i will just highlight my notes and add stuff if i want to. personally i dont like those pretty notes because even though they're pretty, they make you focus on the fat fancy title at the top rather than the information you need.
@@name.surname.9707 yea same. I'm going into 8th grade now and my notes since the beginning of MS have been black ink/pencil and that's it. but now i highlight instead of underlining :)
My entire exposure to the law industry is from:
- two years of mock trial
- how to get away with murder
- eve cornwell
Li all u need tbh
Only one of these is credible. which is it gonna be, liza?

I’m a med student and I don’t even know why I’m watching this beside the fact that I love Eve 😂🤷🏻♀️
Ewelina V. Hahahaha I love you - the dedication 😤😤
Same 😂
Same! 😊
Samee
Because of the sheer quantity of info both careers manage 😅
To be honest Eve, we need a more detailed video on this because this is great at summarising the main key points that we need to know but I feel like there's so much more I need to wrap my head around. At this point, I pretty much need an entire video on how to read information more efficiently. Like, I'll read the set chapters for each law module and come out with zero time for doing the additional readings, whilst STILL needing to check that I've actually learned and understood everything for contracts, public law etc.
Help! Can we like email you or something? Just jk (not really).
You could probably dm her on twitter ! Idk how often she replies though
Her email is in her desc
struggling with the same thing. Anyone know a good video/tip for it?
Go in with questions. When reading your lecture notes, think of any questions. Like, what's the difference between a tort or a crime? What are crimes AND torts, and what are just either? What obiter dictum's have become law? Is there a more recent case I can relate to, instead of the one from the 1800s they use in the lecture? Have their been any cases that are really similar but had different results? You just basically keep going through the notes. When you're reading the textbook you're far more likely to retain the info that has answered your questions.
And think of it this way. If you only remember one thing from your textbook readings because it answered a question, that's way better than remembering nothing like you do now
Please do the case note video! Or any study / notes / exam videos! for law ha
112lauren okokok
Yesss please
I have come out of this video more confused that what I was when I entered.... please do a more detailed version!!!
Because i'm doing my A-level but as i love her videos still watch but i'm kind of confused as well to be honest but is fine i ain't still in uni still got 2years and i can't believe how quick time has past by
Same
@@CP-vk3nh I am very very late to this but I just started uni and it's less confusing basically once you've gotten more familiar with uni courses and the teaching structure so won't apply much to a levels
"I'm a law student", iced coffee and brilliant revision advice = its a classic eve vid
staying on brand 😤
sadly this doesn't apply to science (I do biomedical engineering), in this case DEFINITELY READ THE TEXTBOOK and be VERY DESCRIPTIVE in your answers if you have to give certain pathways or cycles or reactions
Biochemical engineering here, I am bad at taking notes and this wasn't very helpful for me either (it sounds good though). I only use textbooks because lectures don't really help at understanding. I get through with the materials we got from seniors.
Same for Law school in the Netherlands. They only give 60% of the information in most lectures in your masters
Carina in the Dutch law bachelor they give you like 90% of the information in the lecture right?
Anouk Melissa yes but still passing on only Lectures is for most subjects impossible. At least at my uni is. I did Dutch law and Dutch tax law bachelor. Passed both
Bedankt!!
From a first year law student who struggles finishing the textbook readings: THANK YOU
Romrama Yousif ugh ugh textbook readings - try try try to cut them out as much as you can 📚
I would suggest academic papers reading as eve said, very helpful and text books are helpful when you really don't know what the topic is when you starting a week's seminar reading, for quick looks and then go in depth with the academic papers :)
1. lecture note
- pre-format your note in the lecture itself
- color-code and highlighting
+ key information - yellow
+ case - blue
+ academic words - pink
- compile form the start
+ let all lecture in the same topic into 1 document
2. set reading
- strip down (format) your note
+ it may have some information that no need to read
+ textbook reading - pink, further reading - orange
3. tutorial prep
4. revision note
omg i love your highlighter we stan a beauty guru
you deserve way more subscribers, it's absolute GOLD what you're talking about
this video honestly came at such a great time for me. for context, im a psych student, and my first year i didnt really take notes effectively at all so i wanted to improve on it this year. ive been trying out doing reading before my lecture so my knowledge is more solid, but pretty much all my lecturers just make the powerpoints from the book. you've kinda just made me realise how much time im wasting, since im spending like five hours on reading only to just get the most concise points from the powerpoint, so i think i'll try out doing the reading afterwards and building on the powerpoint with research that's are only in the book. thanks for the video!! really looking forward to a revision noted video, my whole life ive just wrote out notes again and again and done basic knowledge tests so i really want to figure out the best method for me x
this is probably just an excuse for me to not do the reading for my 9am tomorrow so big thanks for that
sorry for the MEGA long winded reply lmao love u queen
Omg I'm a psych student as well!! Hope you go well with your degree :))
Hi,
I'm going to be starting my psych degree this September while working a full time job. I'm nervous. Any word of advice or things I should look out for?
Another student here ^^ thought this might apply: I was doing the exact same thing you were doing last semester until I realized by skimming the chapter’s concept definitions the night or morning before class I was still able keep a step ahead of the lecture and save time when I went back to read it more thoroughly after. It seems like more work when you think about it but I found the information sunk in better, stayed longer, and I was reading much quicker.
i’m also gonna start as a psych major this august omg i’m starting this free online course over summer so that it’ll hopefully be a breeze when college starts.
Important question:
How are you today?
Hana :Jinghay: thanks for asking. Today was a good productive day!
How about yourself?
Nice to hear! Mine was also pretty productive :)
Hana :Jinghay: , stressed got an exam tomoz
@@lieebieebs9854 Don't be stressed! You can do this!! GOOD LUCK I BELIEVE IN YOU x
lazy as hell
WHERE WAS THIS VIDEO IN MY FIRST YEAR thank god I found this video for my final year!!!!! I have been using your techniques this year and honestly i've saved so much time and have been able to spend my time actually doing the further reading and really getting to grips with the different judges' arguments like in Baden no.2, these tips are literally amazing!!!!!
Her video editing skills are top notch!
Wow I’ve been really looking into law for my future and your channel has deepened that goal for me thanks eve keep up your exceptional work!❤️
Omg feeling blessed right now, queen eve back at it again providing that banging content!! Your literally getting me through my degree right now 🙏🏻
WE NEED MORE VIDEOS ABOUT NOTES. This is a great video but it's still really vague so if you maybe could expand in a bit more detail a few of the stept you're talking about in this video. Also, has this system changed since you started your LPC?
Agreed. If she could make an in depth version that would be great lol.
I absolutely love your positivity!! And I love the way you mentioned how you think law is as hard as any other course. ! ❤️
Every uni course is difficult, in their own ways. I’m a Film Student - I’m in uni 5 days a week, I have roughly 100 (ish) pages of essential reading a night and about 8 assignments a semester. People always tell me my course is a waste of space & it’s not even close to difficult. I always find highlighting in different colours very effective. Yellow is key dates, Pink is key theories, orange is to look into further info & blue is definitions !! 🤩
YOU ARE AMAZING, would love separate more in-depth videos for each stage thank youuuuu 💗💗💗💗
thank you for making this video! im really supper excited after watch it, and now im start to study 😂 your energetic voice really help me to boost up my strength to study.
YES EVE YES
Yes eve!!!!!! Been waiting for this for ages!!! Literally love your channel!! , I am a true eve fan!! ❤️
This is living giving. Truly. Thank you for putting this video into existence. YOU ARE DOING GOD’S WORK EVE!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
reading academic papers and extracting key arguments, use them as arguments and counterarguments, and then explaining why you side with this kind of opinion helped a lot when I did my International Law of Trade and Aid course (Tonia tutored it lol, she's brilliant)!
Dron Wang yes yes !! and wow Tonia - did you study at Bristol ?? She is FAB
@@EveCornwellChannel yah yah I did my master's in 2016-2017, sad I didn't discover your CZcams channel back then, could have met you. I mean we might have studied in Beacon or Will's at the same time lol
Please I have a question...
After making an argument and a counterargument, how do I explain why I sided with one party and not the other?
we need that case notes video! :) thank you for making this
Thank you for your love and care Eve. Looking forward for the revision notes taking. 🌼
As a 1st year law student who’s completely confused about what the hell is going on and how to manage everything, this is a damn lifesaver😍
good luck with everything - you've got this !!
Eve, as someone doing a PhD partially in how to learn (in engineering) this is A+++. Love it. So good. Congrats.
omg, i think my life just changed - first-year law student just about to do my second round formative!! this is so helpful thank you so much Eve.
Can’t tell you how helpful this is, thanks for making this!
Eve this was soOoO helpful. I've got a lecture next month and I'm gonna make sure tho use all these advices!
I have my criminal and commercial law exams coming up real soon and this video is actually lifesaving! Thank you Eve will definitely be putting these tips into better practice next year!
Thaaaanks Eve! I actually practice what you've been doing as an effective study method and hearing this from another law student is great. Awesome content!
I've been looking for a good channel that focuses on law, and yours is by far the best Ive come across 🤗 you've got a new subscriber!!!
This really helped me! I see some people comment that they got confused because of this video, but I totally get what you're saying. they're simple tips but have a big effect! I already did some of these things so I guess I'm going in the right direction. Thank you girl! :)
I don't know how many of these note taking videos i have watched where they all say the same things that don't even actually help!! Thank you for this!!!!
I’m interested in studying law in the future and your videos have been so interesting and informative! Literally binge watching them atm lol.
Just what I needed
This video is possibly one of the most helpful videos I've watched on CZcams.. EVER. Thank you so much!
Any videos on effective note taking for cases and prepping for exams would be amazing! Thanks for actually explaining how you go through your course materials!

Watching this 2 years later as a non traditional student and you helped me so much. Thanks for your advice!!

I'm starting my science degree in march and im very scared so this video really relieves me on how to take effective notes! Thank you eve!!
MORE PLEASE!! So helpful :)
I am a second university student in the US. I totally agree. Trying to read for every class as well as revising your notes and preparing for exams, etc is impossible. I have read a little bit to prep for class this year but I have mostly just prepped the lecture notes in a summarized way. Thank you for making this video! It was very helpful :) thank you for sharing your knowledge and educating your viewers. You are AMAZING!
Hey Eve! Absolutely love your vids especially this one!! When will you be doing a video fully dedicated to revision notes. Cuz I may need some help lol ❤️

SUCH a useful video
You have really worked hard to make this video 👌👌👌
I’m studying law in the Netherlands and it’s pretty different. We usually get the presentation after the lecture so the only way to prepare for lectures is to do the reading. I wish I could format my notes beforehand. But love this series! Very helpful!
Very underrated channel xxx lots of love from london
I literally finished school 2 days ago & couldn’t be happier, why am I watching this ajsk
The gem of this video that blew my mind:
