[TAS] Mario Party 5 Decathlon Mode Perfect Score!

- My first TAS! The goal is to achieve the highest point total possible (1000 points) in each mini-game, which requires meeting the following objectives:
Ground Pound Down: under 23 seconds
Chomp Romp: under 13 seconds
Flower Shower: over 45
Leaf Leap: 177+ yards
Night Light Fright: 0.1 yards
Dinger Derby: 30 points
HydroStars: under 32 seconds
Will Flower: under 6 seconds
Later Skater: under 24 seconds
Triple Jump: 145+ yards
Some performances shown here can be much better, but they all meet the requirements for 1000 points.

164 on triple jump!!!!!! I also didn't know there was an ending to leaf leap! GG's dude, awesome TAS!
Thanks man! Strangely enough, briefly let off on the mashing for the first two jumps saves you energy for the last jump, feels like five jumps instead of three.

Its insane that, almost 20 years after its game came out, someone finally pushed Mini-Game Decathlon to its upper limits.
And its even more insane that this is the ONLY GameCube Mario Party with a perfect Decathlon score on record.
It was only made possible by a discovery about Chomp Romp made last year. But stay tuned, because there could be more to come soon…

Thanks man! I was hoping (but not really expecting) there to be a special message to happen at 10000 pts, but I guess the devs never really expected anyone to reach that.

@@hahaphd6856 I'm guessing they did think there was someone good enough to get 10000 points (hence why some minigames are virtually impossible RTA to get 1000 points on, since they overestimated what people could get) but they didn't think it was worth making a special message for

Really cool TAS. I didn't think 10000 points on MP5 decathlon was even possible.
This also makes me wonder what the best possible score for Triple Jump is (with TAS). My best score is 164.20
Thanks for the kind comment. The best possible score for Triple Jump involves intermittent pausing, but I chose to avoid pauses (per Cyberscore rules). Without pauses, I’m not sure. I spent about a day testing out different possibilities, but you may have found something I didn’t.
@@hahaphd6856 Oh, I actually did it without slow-motion (I did it with the TAS controller from Dolphin) and got it multiple times so I think the key is just when you change the button.
It's quite odd how you don't start mashing the button it tells you to mash until a bit later.
Btw, what's your timing on Will Flower? I think with TAS I got a 5.93 or 5.95 by making it hold the button for 1 frame and release for 2 frames (instead of both being 1 frame which is faster for some reason), but I can't figure out how to get 5.28 like you did.
I figured it would be something like this. Very interesting.
For Will Flower, again, I did a bunch of experimentation and while I could not match the TAS record of Mugg1991 (5.13), I found that the rhythm you mentioned (A _ _ A _ _ ) was fastest to the first mini-leaf that opens up on the flower, whereas the rhythm (A _ A _ _ A , i.e. alternating between 1 and 2 frames of release) was faster from the first mini-leaf onwards. So I think for the first 2"13 I used (A _ _ A _ _) and for the rest I did (A _ A _ _ A).
@@hahaphd6856 That's so weird how that works, wow. Mario Party games can be much more complex than it appears to be on surface. It seems like the GameCube ones are the most well-researched

You can skip the others turn? If so, they have though of everything.
You cannot skip, I just edited those parts out for better viewing experience since these easy CPUs take a loooooong time
How much work would it be to tas it so all four players get a perfect score? (if it’s even possible)
Well a TAS like this is always a lot of work. Most mini-games won't be too much extra since the inputs will be the same. The ones to be concerned about are Flower Shower (not sure if there are 180 flowers total), Hydrostars and Later Skater (both are tough games to do with 1, never mind with 3).

I love this game to bits, but even I can't jump freaking 164 ft in Triple Jump... My best is 121 ft
Try a (very brief) pause on the first two jumps, then go all out on the third jump.
