  • Howdy, y'all! My name is Mike and I absolutely love scavenging for free stuff, random treasures, lost valuables and other interesting artifacts. In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Be sure to stay subscribed to stay up to date with my latest expeditions, y'all!

I thought the same about the letters, even though they were plastic. But I know it's easy to be in one mindset and expect something to be one thing and when it's not, you just toss it right out of your mind.
When I'm sourcing and I see a beautiful vase/bowl I immediately think glass. I'm a glass collector, but I've been fooled by certain types of pottery glazes.
My point is I just see glass because that's what I look for. Mike sees scrap or "not scrap" because that is the mindset he's in at the time.

I think that heavy "shelving" was from a warehouse. Last big company that I worked for had big warehouse for storing, of all things, hard back books. When you're storing thousand and thousand of books for a regional book seller ( that is no longer in business today ) you need heavy duty shelving to store it all before it can be sorted and transported to the retail locations. I know first hand how heavy books are since I was injured in a warehouse accident, and was almost killed by about 2000 lbs of books! It's the reason why I have been on disability for that last 20 years!
