- In this episode I drive a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette stingray split window coupe. This is the only year they offered the split window, in 1964 to improve visibility they switched to a full width rear window.
The 1963 model was the first year of the new C2 body style. There are a number of quirks in the first model year that also make it fairly unique and it’s collectibility but that I personally don’t really love. I’ll talk about those as I walk around the exterior and interior of the car.
The 1963 was only offered in a small block 327 V8. While it’s smaller than the 427 big block it still put out good power.
#corvette
Bought a 4 speed ‘63 split window 5 months ago and it’s a blast to drive. I take it for a spin every 3-5 days and ALWAYS get compliments, people taking pics, thumbs up, etc. Its my dream car that I wanted since I first saw one as a kid. She’s my baby! 😀
Awesome congrats Gary!
Love it Ross! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Chris
It's a beauty !!! I love the older look of everything...
Yes!!
Hey Ross i just wanna say thank you for all you have done. Showed me what I need to know about the market and also you’re humble personality. Everybody seems to fit the a-hole persona when they find a way to make money but you showed me that doesn’t have to be the case. Thank you Ross you truly inspired me.
Thank you man, I really appreciate that, it means alot!
I turned my tv up loud so I catch that awesome sound. Very nice 👍🏻
I love it!!
Love this!! Thanks bro!
Very nice! Great find
Thank you!
thanks for the video!
Thank you!!
Great presentation! Like the White & Red combination. Good looking 63 Mid year corvette! One hell of a Sting Ray!
Thanks Charlie!
The storage under the rear rug is where you put your guns. Very cool.
Great episode
Thank you!
Just found your channel, 😳😳😳😳😳... the 63 is my dream car, it was so great to see it in such detail, many thanks... I’m in my 50’s now and have NEVER seen one in the flesh.
Thanks MD!
Love this video! Gorgeous 63 splitty C2!!! Great enthusiasm and presentation. Also it badass seeing that you own multiple C2’s!!!!!!!
Thank you Greg!!
Yes indeed ... the 63 is a rolling sculpture and a legend in automotive history. As a proud C7 owner, I will say that the 67 big block, stinger hood, 4-speed is my dream Vette. But the 63 is a close second!
Yes sir!!
This guy's videos are awesome. Very informative and interesting. I have wanted one of the C2's for about 25 years. These videos make me want one even more. I'm looking right now. I love the white car with red interior. It sounds great too! I first rode in a '63 Sting Ray when I was 12 yrs old, back in the cargo area, haha
Wow Ross what a beautiful car !!! Congratulations!!!!
Thanks Cindy!
thanks for that, love the split window vette!
Thank you Cee!
Literally my dream car
I bought a 63 split window 1 week ago ... its white with a red interior 4 speed... looks exactly like yours... thx for the video enjoyed it greatly 👍
Awesome!!
Where did you get it?
@@TireKickers-RossCameron It was a barn find in Manitoba Canada... a friend of mine called me and said 2 of his friends who are car guys bought several cars from an estate sale...the old guy had passed away and they bought all his stuff... some cars were outside rusty some were in parts but the 63 split window was in a shop kind of barn structure protected from the elements... it had a restoration on the motor and paint 25 years ago then put in storage... speedometer reads 49 miles... we believe it was spun to zero during the restoration... 327/300 hp white car red interior 4 speed electric windows wonderbar radio works clock works everything works... I paid 80,000CDN...
327 was arguably chevy's best V8 at the time with the best displacement to power ratio and capable of revving higher than a big block.
That’s true! It’s a fantastic car!
327 also kicked the 350’s tail off the line too.
That’s why I built a 550Hp 327 for my 64 vette. Runs like a striped ass ape.
The place is coming out great man.. Hope to be able to come and check out those cars soon! 👍
thank you sir!
Cool review..
thanks man!
Like these videos. Im a good enough trader where idont watch that many of ur trading vids anymore, but i still enjoy the way you teach things. You taught me the basics to trading and I credit you for being an inspiration. I also had to get that cactus shirt to wear everytime i trade, i love it. Nice video
Right on Jack!
Don’t know how I found your video but very much enjoyed it. I am now a subscriber and the way you explained everything was point on. If or when you get tired of this car please let me know. I would love to have a shot at it
Hi Ross! It's one nice ride you had there! However, I'd like to comment on couple of things. If the car has been standing undriven for a longer periods of time, it's usually advisable to let the engine warm well up first at the cold start before reving it higher. About the drivability, older cars tend to have unique personality on many aspects of functions. However, it sounds abit silly you're comparing this car's drivablity to what you have got used to on your own C2 and the other cars you have been driving. We should also keep in mind that it is possible that someone else could like to drive this car more than your C2 if she/he had to compare them .
Great car! I am jealous.
9:01 “Green, green green! I don’t like red.” - Stores car in red garage. 😏 Awesome collection!
Thank you!
The files are the fuel injected ones, the large tank option include finned large drum brakes, they were called the ZO6s
Loving these videos Ross! Seeing you doing your thing, living the life motivates me to keep working hard so that one day I can do the same...tho my dream is to travel the world and trade like Roberto :)
thanks Param!
the nerd and the beauty....
haha
My favorite Vette Duntov's/Mitchell's offpring
Extremely rare air condition for Speed 63 Corvette Split Window
Team cactus 🌵 here!!!

Your pedal problems can be fixed. Accelerator may not have correct factory spring. Brakes need to be adjusted and bled. Maybe replace pads and drums. If that doesn’t work rebuild wheel cylinders and master cylinder. If clutch is original it is a Three finger Borg and Beck which uses stiffer springs. Replace the clutch with a diaphragm style clutch which requires less effort. You are probably due for a new clutch anyway based on cars age and miles.
Nice looking one owner. Judging by your tach I believe you have a 340hp. That's why you get that nice gurgle sound while you start it up. Also has solid lifters making you the 340.
Thank you!
I like the 63 wheel covers much more. Those wheels covers are made of from something like 13 to 17 individual pieces, so we kinda know why they were a one year item.
16:00 wow that's a skill lol
As a teen - Owned a 65ss impala convertible 327 ( passed on my dad’s “free” 67 mustang fastback)
A local Chevy mechanic at a Chevy dealership only worked on corvettes +-
Due to connections, he agreed to work on my ss, We changed out the cam and added what he referred to as a corvette clutch pack-
The overt effort it took to fully depress the clutch pedal was immediately noteworthy and I was no slouch physically-
The related effort over time contributed to my seat back interior frame splitting and requiring welding - appears part of your lower driver’s seat back is “braced” by that rear storage shelf ?- otherwise, you would really feel that force transferring into the seat
The launch potential was worth it
Never knew the spec or complete details of the difference then or now-
I noticed the sun visor wouldn't stay up. I have the same problem with my 73 Pinto. Another classic car.
Thank You I just bought one (so Lucky) I learned so much the high beams and the door locks to start with! I am having issues with it seems it is slipping? from1st to 2nd? Any advice would be appreciated.
Did your mechanic make any adjustments? The gas pedal you can possibly change to a softer spring on carb.
The brakes you probably should do a complete Dot 3 fluid replacement through whole system. Brake fluid over time in any car develops moisture in system and lowers the boiling/evaporation temp.
yep I did have it services but didn’t fine tune it enough to my liking
Also, seat belts were an option on these if you can believe that. Mine is stock but I did have lap belts added. And the passenger outside mirror was also an option btw
That’s a good idea!
Big blocks make good boat anchor
lol
I have a 2020 C8. I would love to have a 63 in as good a shape as yours.
What type of gopro setup is that??
The fuelie refers to the ones equipped with the Rochester F.I. units. Z06 Corvettes could be ordered with the large 36 gal fuel tank and a larger filler neck and oversized cap to make pit stops faster. The Z06 was everything a racer would want . The number of big tank Z06 Corvettes produced was only 63. Chevrolet reusses its RPO codes like the Z06 and ZR1 . Zora was not a big block fan . He much preferred the better handling of the small block cars . The ZR1 package with the LT1 was an awesome handling car and also very rare. If Zora had his way we would have had a mid engine Corvette long time ago .
I'm gonna go out on a tangent but how the hell can the owner's kids just decide to sell probably their father's prized possession? Let alone something that was bought new and held onto for damn near 60 years! Yes these cars are worth money but damn. My brother has my Dad's car he restored and told him if you want to sell it sell it it's yours now but was VERY passionate about us never getting rid of his stereo setup he got while he was serving in the Army back in the 60's. I think that stereo meant more to him than the car did, which was understandable knowing the background. My brother and I both agree it'd be hard to sell the car, aside from the stereo it's the last big tangible piece of him we have left and he put a lot of blood, sweat and cussing into that car :D
You had it right. It is Z..... Z06 ;)
If that sun visor is bugging you, just pop the side out and turn it by the passenger window.
I use to do that until I fixed it.😄
That’s a good idea!
I noticed, that someone must have used a abrasive material, or substance ,while trying to clean the Left, and Right Rear Glass Windows, because both are scratched pretty bad 4:01-4:20 ,You can probably have those Rear Glass Windows buffed to remove the scratches
I know I think it’s from a cat
FYI...the valve cover is extremely rare...it has the broken dye mark on it...only a few made it to production ..
from the thumbnail i thought you were jorge masvidal lol
I hope you didn’t more than $65-70 K, very nice stingray
Cheers and congrats
🙏💪
Hard to find a decent one under 6 figures now.
the question is , will the price go up or down? time frame?
I would like to see some videos on c3 corvettes,I own a 1977 vette.thanks russ.
Good call I’ll see if I can get my hands on one!
Those small blocks do wind!
Hey Ross that 63 has a t-10 borg Warner transmission in it That is if it’s all original also looks like a 340 hp brakes all drum I would rebuild the whole system
good call thank you!
Thinking of women‘s preference for red: Louboutin‘s iconic red soled shoes
Good call
Hey your car is one year older than I am....
Lol
Not your typical Corvette owner.
I suppose not!
ZO6 package
Man i just realized in have a new Alfaromeo Giulia with red interiors.. 😳🤭😅 Maybe that’s why this year was rough! 🤣
ahh!
😱
😬
Nice car, but weren’t the big tank cars know as “tankers”? You called them “fuelies” which was slang the fuel injected model.
Good presentation!
You might be right on that that’s my mistake
Nope he’s right. They’re called fuelies
Cars with Fuel Injection are called Fuelies. Cars with the big tank option are called tankers. Tankers can be fuelies or carbureted. The Z06 option are Fuelies with big gas tanks, dual brake system and other racing goodies. Z06 were meant for racing. They are rare and bring the big bucks.
does this make two corvettes ?
Yes sir!
I have some corvette books
right on!
you should only wear your shiny shoes when you demonstrate the use of the clutches and pedals- :)
lol agreed
From the thumbnail, I thought it was Samuari Guitarist for a few seconds.
lol
he said its 65 out?? in boston??
Yeah! Northeast
@@TireKickers-RossCameron hi ross...I was in the chat room the other day. I like your style very much. I wanna mention something unusual. I bought 100 shares of FTSI like 2 mos ago ...I held the shares overnight n woke up to 23 shares remaining with a $650 loss! I thought it was a reverse split
..no. this Texas company did a bankruptcy on us . Looks like we will need to do a class action to recoup. Ever see that b4?
Did I understand right? You are into daytrading? Sorry for the offtopic question...
Great video, I think your knock offs are installed on the wrong side of the car. May want to check that because this can cause them to come loose. 👍🏼
They are my mechanic is going to correct them!
I have a buy that would be serious at $150 k on the car you have if it passes his inspection witch what i see it will
No factory side pipes in 63. The wood wheel in 63 was simulated wood, plastic!
There was a teak wood wheel that was an option.
Dude you have a beautiful 63 split window Vette . It hurt my ears to hear you whine about the TINKY EXHAUST. But when you cried about a small block when thats the only option made me turn off the volume for my own narration. My dad had a 63 convertible. Silver with red gut . I cried when he sold it in 83 I was 10
No side pipes !!!
Zo6 tank car
Right!
Watching them cannabis stocks today🚀
will do!
why did you take your glasses off to drive
i dont always wear them
Great to see metrosexuals expanding their interests!
Lol. I’m gay and have a 63 split window. That’s how hot these cars are 😂
Cutting away the split window to „modernise“ their car is what people did to their pretzel window beetles
True!!
Why do you say what’s up guys and not give me anytime to respond? Rude
Sorry man!
Usually when the presenter starts with, “What’s up?” I immediately terminate playback and go to something else. Experience has proven me right 90 percent of the time.
I came here to look at a 63 Chevy-NOT a 40 minute selfie. I HATE vids where the poster thinks it's more important for him to be on camera than the subject he's presenting. THUMBS DOWN and a click of "Don't recommend channel"
I understand 😪
You should really stick to driving your Prius and leave the Classic Chevys to the real men.
Cut the fiberglass in the back window*** Body is totally not metal...Beautiful car tho
Good call!
You have. No business with any muscle car I'd like to show you how to drive it. Go back to a Prius......
Real Corvette men don't wear man-buns.
