Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations and having a population of over 80 million and 40% is 25 years or younger, it's unlikely it's government would be a dictatorship. If there would be an Middle East country I had to travel, it would be Iran. I believe Iran is one of the most misunderstood countries in the world. Dr Zarif is a intelligent man and I liked this interview. Just hope the sanctions will end and I do not believe Iran is part the problem, but part of the solution. Sanctions hurt the people not the politicians.

You people have to learn to respect and undarstend that your undarstending of something is not only one...and also not only true and right one.....religion in most countries is not even 10th most important things....so cool off...If religion is everything to you ..than it is ok..but also understand that for many it is not....if you came in my city you would hear expressions like "you are my god" ..."he is god" all the time..even from people who went in mosk and church every day....it is just how people learn to express it self during their lifes...and just you know in 99% part of the world countries are secular...which mean religion is your private thing and no one will cut your head if you say something against religion..When it comes DR Zarif ...great man...if there are more like him working for Iran government ..well Iran would had much better reputation.....

    • @princepouncer2729
      @princepouncer2729 Před 6 lety +1

Well in Islam and amongst Muslims, language is very important and has grave implications if it articulates that there is another 'god' besides Allah, the One True God, (polytheism) which is the biggest sin in the sight of God. Even in jest, a Muslim whether practicing or not, never jokes like that ever. Muslims do not 'chill' when it comes to religion like Christians who have turned their religion into a joke. To even remotely suggest god-hood to any creation ( human animal, angel, jinn) is totally abhorrent and the biggest sin in Islam , and one which can make someone a non-Muslim automatically, unless he corrects himself ( catches himself in his error.

      Updated
on Oct 16th 2017….1) Bush’s National Security Advisor Brent
      Scowcroft pointed out in
the 1999 book “A World Transformed”, co-authored with George H.W. Bush, when Iran’s
Rafsanjani personally facilitated the release of the
Lebanon hostages in late 1991, the Bush administration “didn’t do anything.”
Goodwill, as it turns out, did not beget goodwill (In other words, Bush welched
on a promise to Iran, and there goes the trust)……2)May 2nd 2003, Iran, through the Swiss
Ambassador, presents the US State Dept. with a “Roadmap” to mending Iran/US
relations. Everything for both sides was on the table to be negotiated. US Top
State Dept. officials decided not to reply (Ignored) to Iran’s offer to
normalize relations…..3) The downing of Iran Flight 655 in July 1988 by the US Navy……
      4) 1953 overthrow of their democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad
Mosaddegh complements of the CIA’s Operation Ajax.... 5)Multiple times sanctions
place on Iran lead by the US…….6)November 2001, Iran assisted the USA
(via the 6+2 meeting at the UN) in the taking of Kabul with a plan of freeing
up the Northern Alliance. Iran’s plan succeed for the US to take Kabul from
Taliban. Then in a January 29th 2002 speech George W Bush labels
Iran a part of the “Axis of Evil” thus worsening relations….7)2017, Iran is found to
be certified by the US government to be COMPLIENT with the multination nuclear
agreement, yet more sanctions are imposed on Iran by the USA. JCPOA, noting that
"according to Article 29, the US is committed to refrain from any policy
intended to affect ‘the normalization of trade and economic relations with
Iran.'' Also, President Donald Trump is
reported to dissuaded other foreign leaders from doing business with Iran at
      the 2017 G20 summit, thus a violation of the agreement…….8) 2010 to 2012, Israeli Intelligence assassinates 5
Iranian scientist. Oct 2011, Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich supported "taking
out [Iranian] scientists," and presidential candidate Rick Santorum called
the killings "A wonderful thing”……..9)Four fairly recent wars
just outside Iran’s borders, twice in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria…..10)
Continued bad mouthing by the goons in the Trump administration……11)December 2011 US CIA Drone
flying in Iran airspace then falls out of sky..….12) 2010 Cyberattack
called “Stuxnet” on Iran by Israel and the US July 18th…..13)
The US has up to 42 military installations surrounding Iran (My count, I could
be wrong). I provided a link for a map to verify, or do your own search: www.juancole.com/2012/02/ring-of-iranian-bases-threatens-us.htmlthis does not count Israeli
military or ships at sea in the area..…. Now who are the real
terrorists? (As I study this, the list keeps getting bigger and bigger)…..14)
US support of SADAM’S INVASION of Iran in Iran/Iraq war (Sadam used chemical
weapons on Iran and no world condemnation)……..15)On March 14th, (2016) Iran
announced that it will never pay the $10.5B that a U.S. court demanded it pay
for the 9/11 attacks. The same Bill-Clinton-appointed judge who had ruled, on
29 September 2015, that Saudi Arabia has sovereign immunity for 9/11 and so
can’t be sued for it, ruled recently, on March 9th that Iran doesn’t have
sovereign immunity and fined Iran $10.5 billion to be paid to 9/11 victims and
insurers; but, on March 14, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Iran won’t pay,
because, as the Ministry’s spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari put it, "The
ruling is ludicrous and absurd to the point that it makes a mockery of the
principle of justice while [it] further tarnishes the US judiciary’s
reputation.” Source: by Eric Zuesse March 16th 2016…… Yet they still cheer for
US wrestlers when they came to Iran in Feb 2017 for a tournament. Now who are
the real terrorists? (As I study this, the list keeps getting bigger)

Hassan Allahyari a monster? Don't think so. Im very familiar with the history of that region. I do know we toppled the Iranian democratically elected prime minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, in 1953! We placed a monarchy that the Iranians removed after 27 years. Thats how the Khomeini came to power... and how we did the same for Iraq, and had them attack Iran. Many Americans do read. We also recognize why those countries don't trust us. As for human rights, I don't think that is a real issue for us, as stated in the interview. Some of our best allies have much worse Records! It is all about controlling the biggest energy sources in the World!

      @mbena7869 Před 6 lety +38

Hassan Allahyari what history they are trying to wipe out? Do you prefer having the Shah as your king? Yes, democracy isnt that great, look what we have here in the US as a president! But it is still much better than monarchy? You should look to your neighboring countries and see how good it is?
Did you see the Khomeinis funeral? I did see it on tv, and I don't think a very bad leader would've had that many people marching in the street and mourn him. Just saying!
Iran maybe not the best country in the world, but under the current circumstances, they are doing much better than their neighboring countries. Any country that has been under siege for almost 40 years and still able to prosper and stand on it feet, to form a powerful country, is respectable country. I may not agree with their government on many issues, but I have to give this to them.

This Charlie Rose is something unfit to print. Zarif thwarts him and beats him with facts every time. We need to pay attention to Mid-Easterners, especially Iranians, I believe, and Putin, to hear how sensibly they speak compared to Americans that have nothing but presumptions and their own vainglory. Zarif was right when he said America is not a cause. Are you a cause because you're an American, or are you a cause because you have formed a belief by your original thinking based upon provable facts? Notice how Rose assumes facts not in evidence about the chemical weapons in Syria, and refutes the American principle of innocence until prove of guilt by investigation. Zarif calls for an investigation; why would Rose steer away from it and presume Assad's guilt. What is to be feared from an international investigation - that it was a false flag attack? Rose is fruitcake that is out of his league contending with Zarif. He's beneath contempt.

Amazing interview...! This man (Javad Zarid) is well learned and seems to be highly sophisticated in terms of his understanding of world politics and history. It's my first time hear him engage in a dialogue and I'm just amazed by his degree of eloquence and intelligence. Charlie Rose is also undoubtedly one of the best journalists in the western hemisphere. I often enjoy his interviews. His questions can be tough - but he makes it easier for those of whom he interviews to express their views and opinions. Although he does get biased sometimes in some of his interviews (which is something inevitable from any individual), but overall he tries his best to be as objective as possible in understanding the arguments presented by the other(s). He's not like some other journalists who embody in their approaches already inset conspiracy oriented outlooks and opinionated worldviews. We definitely need more journalists like him for a better understanding of some of the most complex issues facing world politics today. It was an enlightening and highly informative interview. Thanks for sharing ~

Mohammad Javad Zarif may be the best FM in the world today.
The essence of what he says is correct.
Regardless of the fact that one can question whether the Iranian government is truly representative of its people, Iranian people and culture as a whole is light years ahead of most of its neighbours, who unfortunately get the political and military support of the United States.
I am convinced that Iran should be part of the effort to find solutions in the region, and not excluded, like immaturely the US government insists on.
