We talk with Yuki about the changing security landscape in East Asia, and Japan’s response to that. (35 min., 37 sec.)

Leftists like Mr. Sen worries too much but when they are in power, they loot the country and offer only lip service to the nation. Most of the opposition ruled states they follow the same mantra and bankrupt the state. Compare the governance from 2004-2014 by the Congress led opposition. There was jobless growth with inflation hovering between 10-15% a year. Every day there was a scam and they made sure Mr. Modi did not get US visa, labeling as narcissist although the Indian Supreme Court totally absolved him of any crime. There was bob blast almost every month in major cities and kichidi government had no spine to take on the terrorists. These are the same guys and their supportive media crying fowl now. Shame on Me. Sen and his leftist media colleagues.

It didn’t even take the sonar radar that years of hearing this type of arrogance has developed in African American people. I'm sorry but the FACT remains that in modern history, the only power that has invaded/conquered/colonised many South East Asian countries & territories (including my home country of Malaysia) are the Western powers. Plundered our wealth & resources for your own & always trying to create this superiority over us. Destroyed your own backyard, only to ride on your moral high horses preaching to us about doing more for climate change and reforestation (pfft). I'm sorry but I agree with what Kishore said, which is a significant portion of the people living outside the US view the US as always having a significant interest in suppressing the rise of any country/region so that they remain the poor peasant that can be controlled & the US can always feel superior going around interfering / preaching / meddling / passing judgment / critiquing on other people's matter (taking your 1st amendment right too seriously & generously outside of the US). And now that another power comes along who isn't afraid to stand up to the US - they just can't stand it. So, please stop using the whole issue of Taiwan, South China Sea disputes, the internal politics of China as a mask and cover to demonise China every single freakin day and create so much noise and false anger and pretend suddenly like they care about all these issues overnight. Yes, there are issues which we all face in South East Asia (just like how the US also faces issues with its own immediate neighbours), but can the US seriously just stop creating so much noise and poking their nose into every single matter especially in our South East Asian region. As a Malaysian, I seriously think that many issues in SEA are better off resolved without the US interference. Geez ! I think if we can observe from histories in other regions, it is the interference of the US / Western powers into the internal affairs of countries/ regions that exacerbate many modern day war /conflicts. Again, all this wouldn't happen if the US would stop having this mentality that they are more superior & therefore the need to interfere and impose their values / beliefs / politics / system onto others.

Both the 🇨🇳🇹🇼 Constitutions stipulate that the (mainland + Taiwan) are two indivisible parts of one China. From 1945, ROC 🇹🇼 was recognised and accepted as the legitimate representative govt of China to UN but in 1971, it was expelled from UN because the members of the UN had decided that PRC🇨🇳 should be the sole legitimate representative govt of China .... Henceforth I do hope the politicians in Taiwan will accept the fact that the fate of ROC🇹🇼 has to be determined by peaceful negotiation between the Chinese people living on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In fact, if I am not mistaken, as early as 1973 , the late MM Lee Kuan Yew (of Singapore) had told the late POTUS Nixon, when they had a meetimg at the White House, that the Taiwan Strait is an "unnatural boundary". So, I hope the govt of the China's "free area in Taiwan" don't try to engage in any unilateral action to change the present status quo of "one China" across the Taiwan Strait to become "one China, one Taiwan" ....... and such provocative unilateral action will cause the govt of PRC🇨🇳 to take appropriate action to safeguard the national interest of China.

Why does Orville Schel keep comparing Xi to Mao or Lenin? It's obvious the focus on China is advancements in technology and industry. Communism doesn't do this. China is progressing technology and industry faster than the US. It's the best aspect of Capitalism without the selfishness. China is even willing to share this tech with other nations as well. They aren't doing it to be a hedgemony or for their own benefit. Why do you think China is picking green technology? It's the one kind of technology that reduces carbon emissions! The mindset of Orville Schel is cold war era. It's ironic because he acknowledges that there is a need for unity, yet keeps bringing up politics on how they are different like it matters.
