Why Are Some People So Judgmental?

  • Why are some people so judgmental, so high & mighty, so nasty, gossipy, and scornful of other people? What if it's nothing to do with the other people? What if in fact it's a window into the dark side of the person doing the judging?

I think those questions are really statements, such as "people should be kind" and "life should be fair". It's true maturity and rootedness in the world to let go of those question/statements, and just live in the moment for what it is. I'll let you know when I get there....

    I'm a very judgmental person. my dad and siblings are too. Only 2 of us are vocal about our it though. My dad (Who we learned this behavior from) and my oldest brother. I don't know how to stop being judgmental. I just judge first and then I have to force myself to ignore those judgements. I judge myself too and I haven't quite learned to ignore that. I'm scared to make a wrong move or look dumb in front of others. (Again, learned from my dad) I fear judgement because I judge. My social anxiety controls a lot of my life.

    • @TheBlueClover2012

      same here. Because I've been hurt a lot so I internalize all my judgment and anger. I don't say it but it's in my head. especially about myself. I also struggle with SAD. I think us being self-aware already makes us better than our parents/siblings though. N the fact that we aren't vocal about it counts for something. I try to learn through empathy.

      @little.lite_star Před rokem +1

      you say that as if you have no self control? Why don't you just stop doing what you aren't meant to be doing and then your anxiety will go away... or if it's something health related then you have to take on whatever it takes to confront that and then of course you wont have anymore anxiety and then you can just be a more confident person and be bold about things and have the courage to be the person you want to be rather then just sitting in the shadows judging people who have put themselves out there to be known. I have to deal with people who have this whole judgement complex and it does my F*#$@n head in... and then if you call them out on it they turn into the most cowardly kind of child like minded person and just run away... It's absolutely cowardly... and no one wants to be a coward! and everyone deep down must know when they are becoming like that... so anyway... I just want to end this little rant by saying... you also deserve to be commended on the fact you actually admitted to that... it's a brave stance to just come forward and say it so you're obviously strong enough in yourself to take the first step and admit things... now you just need to have the same kind of bravery in yourself to say "I'm a coward and I should be more courageous!" and just willfully engage in the conflict that you should... and you'll feel better in yourself... and then you wont even have to be judging others all the time.

    • @glenngriffon8032
      @glenngriffon8032 Před 2 lety +9

      After four decades on this earth I've learned this much to be true and I hold to these views: Respect others but don't expect others to respect you.
      Be kind to others but don't expect others to be kind to you.
      Show others acceptance and understanding, even if you don't understand them.
      Do the things you want to do when you want to do them, don't let fear of failure hold you back because years later you will wish you had done the thing. (Also known as Frizzle's Rule: Take chances, get messy, make mistakes.)
      You're never too old to act like a kid. Eat pudding, have candy, enjoy cereal and cartoons. "There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes." - Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker)
      Contrary to what some might say, you can pick your family. It's relatives you can't pick. You can choose to acknowledge relatives as family or you can decide they're not. You choose your spouse and they become family. If you adopt you choose your children. Your closest friends can be brothers and sisters to you. You absolutely can pick your family.
      Time is too precious to waste it worrying what others think about you. Do your best to be kind and just roll with it. You won't know everything and that's okay because one mind cannot hold all wisdom.

    • @rickgreen4131
      @rickgreen4131 Před 2 lety +5

      Good question. More interesting is how your views have changed and will change? That's what's interesting. Views are not very precious. We can have a view or opinion on everything and anything. Every movie, TV show, image, celebrity, politician, friend... we have opinions on anything and everything. Dunno why we need to classify, thumbs up or thumbs down, like/dislike, yes or no. As if our approval or disapproval means anything.
