I went on Amazon and bought the cheapest and most expensive ATVs they had for sale! We bought a Tao Tao 125cc quad that was the cheapest and a Coolster 150cc quad that was the most expensive. These Amazon four wheelers are great budget buys, but are they reliable enough for everyday work and riding?

Also used to slow it down ,next door neighbors Grand son would go fast . Richard would shut it off ,it had a good long range. He can’t find any one to work on it .Chinese junk no one will work on them.

The plastic around the jug is a cooling duct. I got one of these "Coolster" 4 wheelers in trade for some labor about 2 months ago. It's really beat up, but still works and goes about 40 mph.
The big ones engine is heavily based on the 150cc gy6 scooter engines. Rip cvt clutch.
"Can yours do this?" I remember those days, and it's 100% accurate. Sometimes it escalated into an injury for someone.

Quad bikes are always fun for shenanigans, even when you flip one over. My silly state introduced a law when they have to have roll over bars on them now. BRP said nope and pulled quads and replaced them with a weird 6x4 looking thing. Basically a quad with an additional unpowered axle in back.

Running shipping oil is great for your motors! Plus drum breaks come fully adjusted from the factory and should just work with no tuning. I’m genuinely confused if they are serious in these videos

I think its for kids. Its a cheap antiflip measure that reduces the speed aswell. Simple yet effective.

That 150cc engine looks like a gy6 engine , pretty reliable as long as they're serviced . Nice video

Mike Nation nice! I've got a generic utility atv with a 150 gy6 clone and it's insanely good. My kid has a Taotao New Cheetah with the 125, and after adjusting valves and tuning the carb, it too is awesome.

I have the most expensive quad sold on Amazon, they just stopped selling it on there. TaoTao Raptor 200. It's a solid unit actually. Got 200 trail miles on it and it's still going great
Wider front tire stance helps to turn better. With a wider rear solid axle the rear tires have more leverage and will cause the quad to push badly in corners.
That shell over the engine is for the aircooling since it has a fan on the side. Also the bigger one has the wrong clutch springs on it stronger ones will get better acceleration, a stronger pressure spring might be in its place too.
Have had that tao tao 125cc for 5 years. still starts, and runs. now on its third kid. worth the 1K i paid for it. Great to learn to ride with.

The coolster engine looks like a 150 gy6 clone pretty common in these cheap quads. The plastic cover is part of the cooling system. There’s a fan on one side of the engine which blows air around the cylinder under that cover and out the other side. It’s because it’s an air cooled engine but because it’s at the back in quads and scooters it uses that way of drawing in air
As someone in another comment said, the Coolster has a 150cc GY6 engine. It's fan cooled hence all the plastic shrouds around the cylinder. You can find a lot of mods and big bore kits for the GY6 engines. The same goes for the little Honda clone in the other atv. :)

I had that coolster, was a really great quad for the money and experience since it was my first. I now how a Honda fourtrax 300. I dont dis the chinese bikes because they are great for beginners :)
That’s not a bike, scrub
the coolster is using a 150cc moped engine...the casing is taking air from the side mounted fan to blow air over the jug. It also has a CVT transmission. Front brakes on both are adjustable at the hand control.
The wheels on the light green one want swapping left to right,.. they’re all backwards.
Also the engine on the other one looks like a GY6, usually found in Chineese scooters.
The wheels are wider in the front so the quad wouldn't roll in the corners as easy as it would with narrow ones.
The title of the video should be Simply Safe, and oh yeah we bought some quads.

The bigger quad there is using a GY6 style engine. Pretty common on Chinese scooters. They add a reversing gear. The good thing is there are a ton of pretty good hop-up parts for that GY6 engine. You can get different clutches you can get different weights to control the CVT engagement. You could definitely soup that thing up to be pretty fast if you wanted to. You mentioned that it revs way up before it begins to engage that is something you could adjust also.
The smaller one has the advantage of using essentially a pit bike engine which also has a ton of hop-up parts available. So if you wanted to have some fun with either one you certainly could do it.

Very cool video! have done a build series on one of those quad bikes i really like them for the price. They are pretty strong. A used Name brand Yamaha raptor 80 quad costs 1500€ in my country. so your better of buying a chinese one😃
You should install a supplementary security system. Simplisafe can be disabled by a pro crook since it is all wireless, so you shouldn't rely on it when you have that much inventory to protect.
There's a speed limiter box on the back hooked to the frame unplug that double the speed on both models

I enjoyed your video upto the part you said you was an alarm installer prior and that wired alarm systems are hard to install and maintain when in reality they aren't hard to maintain. Simply safe can easily be bypassed with cheap components off Amazon.

The big one has an air cooled chinese gy6 like motor... the plastic around the jug and stator is for cooling... it will overheat if the plastic is taken off.
I bought a bunch of those TAOTAOs years ago for my kids. The quality is terrible- They were missing parts, and construction was sloppy.... but... they still work great years later. It is a great entry into the atv market.

The reason the front tires are wider it’s bc there is a anti flip thing in it so if your kid is riding it they can’t flip at high speed turns

You've got to adjust them yourself. The sellers make it clear that a professional shop should assemble them.
Yup, when you adjust the brakes they are actually pretty good. And as always they over paid for these quads😆
They are also so slow that any landing is a soft landing.

The housing around the cylinder is for the fan cooling it guides tha air around the cylinder to cool it simple technique
The front tires hang out farther because it is for kids so the fourwheeler wont flip as easy
