Italy hasnt had a reliable striker in along time. No more Christian Vieri's. I remember they had to select Iaqunta , who was useless, now its Immobile who is also useless. Balotelli was just too unstable & ruined his best years doing stupid shit
The main problem for Italy Is ...... We not have anymore that GREAT DEFENDERS and GOALKEEPER.... For 100 years we had best in defense and some times also in midfieldes , see Pirlo + Gattuso ..... But NOW we destroyed everithing .... No more Defender , goal keepee , midfielders and for sure STRIKERS

@@IDR_Ning and unfortunately, the coaches still couldn't use them effectively, still relied on a defensive country attack style. Sure Italy won the 2006 WC, but from 1990-2002, Italy had a perfect defense, decent midfield & top strikers, they should have won several trophies. Those games they lost on penalties shouldn't have gone to penalties
Neither playmakers. It was supposed Chiesa would become Italy's next-gen playmaker, but he has been injured for a while.

Even when you could dribble past them, you still had to face a top class goalkeeper. 😅
Vieri was an amazing striker. He was more complete than Pippo Inzaghi. He was Pichichi with Aleti, and capocanonnieri (twice) with Inter, where he scored more than 100 goals in 6 seasons. He deserved more titles. As an Inter supporter, I know that sometimes he had bad attitudes (like refusing to start a game on the bench), but Bobo Vieri was one of my biggest joys during our seasons with no titles.
The days of Vieri, Vialli, Zola, Inzaghi, Luca Toni, Gilardino and Del Piero are long gone.
Things have gotten so bad nowadays that Italy doesn't even have any useless strikers to select.
They've had to pretend Argentinian forward Retegui, who is not considered good enough for the bench in the Argentina squad, is Italian. It is either that or strikers who are even worse than useless such as Belotti, who scores about two goals a season at club level, Gnonto who never scores, Politano who can't score and Raspadori who doesn't want to score.
