Honestly, I wouldn't call Pegasus evil. He's more of driven by madness. His motives is all over an obsession of bringing his wife back, no matter what the cost. It's very human tbh.
He was driven to be evil by his insanity. It doesn't matter why your evil, if you commit evil acts you are evil. He's a tragic character but still evil.
Pegasus was actually a bit of an underrated character in my opinion sure he was the main villain in the first season but he was still had better character development than that zigfried guy and other spare of the moment characters they came up with toward the end of the original run at least in my humble opinion anyway lol
Well, Pegasus is the best villian, and zigfried was cool too, even though everyone calls him pink haired freak, pink is everyone's color and he has really awesome deck
Come now, even you yourself are selling Pegasus a bit short. In my opinion he was easily the best Yu Gi Oh villain. I think most people nowadays choose to forget that, yes, while Pegasus was incredibly camp and flamboyant (and all the more entertaining for it), he was also incredibly vile and easily the most ruthless antagonist Yugi or Kaiba ever had to face. It also stands to reason that his motive was the most believable and human. Every other villain was just your usual run of the mill 'oh I want to take over the world because I'm greedy'. Pegasus' motive? 'Oh, I want to resurrect the love of my life and I'll do anything to accomplish it'. That's a motive you can buy.
zyzz bakura was lucky that Pegasus was weak from his shadow duel with yugi or else bakura would have been taking another trip to the shadowrealm. people don't realize how dang powerful Pegasus was in duelist kingdom the strongest millennium item user at the time.
Could you imagine how much of a threat he could be if he got ahold of the *Millennium Rod* while he still had his *Millennium Eye* I mean he was one of the most manipulative character's in the entire series!

That's the reason Pegasus kidnapped him in the originals (though in the manga it was an actual key, in the anime it turned out that the key was actually the card he wears around his neck--a keycard). Admittedly, the 4Kids reason sounds better.

If he beat Yugi he would get all 3 even if the first two were the means to an end for the third.

Had a dream years ago that Yu-Gi-Oh had some "deleted scenes" where there was arcs where Pegasus played Dartz, Marik played Pegasus and modern Kaiba played preist Kaiba..man...
one important detail you left out was that he ordered mokuba to be kidnapped because kaiba corp can only be legally controlled by a kaiba family member so mokuba was supoposed to be a figurehead
oh i get it! but still if pegasus only needed kaiba corp to make an hologram of cecilia in my opinion defeating yugi wasn't that important even if the company didn't have a champion president
