I appreciate the straight forward honest and informative evaluation. Eventually I’d like to go EFI and Sniper is pretty much at the top of the list. Your review echos what I’ve heard about the system and your review is super helpful. I’m a Mopar guy but your Monte is sweet!

Great looking ride man! Good video, there are a lot of mixed opinions out there in these sniper systems. Everything has its good and bad, but sounds like you have it figured out. I’ve thought about getting EFI on my 427BBC in my 67 Chevelle, but have the carb dialed in pretty good so haven’t pulled the trigger yet haha.

  • @trailerparkcryptoking5213

EFI is the way to go! Carbs can be tuned very well, but after sitting for extended periods they get varnished up which throws them out of tune and they have to be cleaned and retuned....gotta keep them in tune. With EFI just start it and go enjoy driving it! Let all these self proclaimed carb tuning experts work on their rides while you are out driving yours! EFI is worth it! FWIW I am a pretty damn good carb tuner, better than most, Holleys and Quadrajets...... You reach an age where you just want to drive and quit working on shit all the time! 👍

I love a carb that is perfectly tuned. Problem is when the weather or elevation changes, they never run perfect. I think that's the chief benefit to EFI. Especially because I live in TX and we can have 50° temp and 50% humidity changes within the same day. Nice car! Glad your pops kept it in great shape.

you're not expecting too much. for the price it should be pretty much flawless out of the box. the injector problem should be addressed by holley and a fix sent to buyers. same with the bracket. those are both safety issues. i would send holley an email or phone call and see what they can do. shouldn't cost any money either. you paid already. this is not anything that any other manufacturer doesn't do for their high end products.

Man, you have yourself one beautiful MC! The coolest part, is that you've done some pretty big upgrades, that surely make the driving experience significantly better, without going crazy and hackin it up. I love the fact that at a glanceshe looks very much stock as a rock, inside and out, except for the tasteful and very fitting polished Americans with the Cooper Cobras (dang it, I could totally hear Derek from VGG saying the name as I was writing it!) While on the subject I have to say, out of the few choices we're left with these days, when it comes to regular production type radial tires to fit the smaller rim sizes, I've been blown away by the Coopers ... Wet or dry, traction wise, they absolutely smoke the old go-to BFGs!

I really like the snipers and think they are better and have more r&d put into them over fitech. I currently have a fitech 2 barrel on my vw bug and it has its issues too but the startup and tune ability of the self tuning efi is a huge improvement over carbs in my opinion. Again nice M/C !

beautiful setup. you need a "tuner" guy to set your spark advance curve for you. those low compression emmissions 350s leave a lot of power on the table. It is all in the total advance and speed of the advance. I have an 84 El Camino Super Slow (305). I'm old school. IDK how to tune computer control ignition. I got my SS runnin like a bat outta hell. It's still only 200-250 horse, but runs more like a stock 350. other than longevity, the neat thing about those big chamber/low hp era engines is that you can tune a lot more pep into them. I bet yours has a lot more pep left for your your sniper system to unleash. Beautiful ride!❤

That is a beautiful car with tasteful mods. I did a Sniper conversion on my 1974 Oldsmobile 350 several years ago and am overall very pleased. Soon after installation the hand held controller and 2 few pumps failed, but since then and now thousands of miles later it has been flawless. I highly recommended using the timing control function, and purchasing the progressive linkage kit that makes application of the throttle much smoother. Drivability is much better, though I really can't confirm if has more horsepower and better gas mileage than when it had the Quadrajet.

Our experience with Sniper (and Fi-Tech) systems lead us to believe that inherent drive-ability problems cannot be overcome. Hesitation, surging, cold and hot start issues are the major problems that we fix by replacing them with a carburetor. The ONLY reason to go EFI is if the rules mandate it (Pro-Stock Drag Racing), or for emissions. These systems are generally installed by people who lack knowledge of carburetors, and unfortunately complicate something that should be very simple.

Skr8up video. Cab was running funny so I ordered the system and have paid someone to do the install $4,500 total. Come to find out the coil was bad and now the car is running A1 and now I don’t wanna swap it out but you’ve got me back on note with the sniper. I’ve even ordered the hyper spark distributor set and it’s been on back order for over 3 months and I was about to cancel that up I’m got to see what’s up with it. Thanks again and enjoy your ride
