  • If you’ve ever been at the store and wondered which one to get, and if it really matters, this is for you.
    Luke Williams and Ashla Taylor test out 50-, 100-, 350- and 600-lumen flashlights to get a feel for the difference between each.

    Firstly, different flashlights have different spread of the light, and so the lumen is only half of what matters in a comparison like this. Secondly, such videos should be done in a forest area, as this gives the viewer a chance to use the trees as hints as to how far the light actual shines...

Even one of my tiny pocket flashlights hits above 600lm, most mid sized lights get to around 1200 and my highest gets 4000lm for a few minutes so why stop so low? And what are these beamshots? I don't understand the point to this test. Candela is more valuable than lumens in this test.
    This didn't make much sense to me, especially at the beginning with the dude flashing a light freaking out the iso on the camera preventing an accurate test. How about start close and then see farther.
    And because you asked: I carry an Acebeam L30 and an Acebeam x80gt, plus a Acebeam headlamp (h30 or the h40 or h15) sometimes my custom skylumen throwers with hundreds of thousands of candela.
    90% of what you see in stores and online is pathetic generic trash and it's important you research on CZcams and CPF to find what that 10% is .

    • @NitroniumGaming
      @NitroniumGaming Před 6 lety +3

      ummm. Lumens is the measure of brightness. There is a direct relation between lumens and watts. Candela is the light intensity. Two flashlights with 300 lumens will have the same amount of brightness, but one may be more concentrated, thus farther throw, and more candela.

    • @zaydabbas1609
      @zaydabbas1609 Před 5 lety

      Lux takes into account the size of the projection, lumens is just the brightness. So a laser might be 1000000 lumens, but a very low lux if you measure per meter.

    • @benbraceletspurple9108
      @benbraceletspurple9108 Před 5 lety

      @@zaydabbas1609 no. Lux is the average intensity over 1 square meter, (or foot for square foot lux, hence some confusion in the industry) the average lux over this size does not decrease when it is focused.
      A 1mil candela laser is 1mil lux at 1 meter away, and places approximately 1 lux from about 1,600 meters away.

The test wasn't to see the t-shirt mans signal light but when you could detect t-shirt man. I made the same mistake you made. They didn't explain the testing very well.
