    Thank you Jacob for a clear and concise breakout of the new features. I've been considering upgrading from a Yamaha digital piano to the Piano 4. Your demos really show off some of the advantages. No internal speakers is a bummer but that is to be expected from a stage type piano. And your intro/boogie woogie was flawless!

      Hello! The Nord Stage3 and Piano4 share the same 88 key Triple Sensor keybad with Virtual Hammer Action Technology (it's designed by the Italian manufacturer Fatar), which feels great. The only instrument Nord makes with a higher end keybed is the Nord Grand, which features a Kawai designed keybed.

      @sweetwater  Před 5 lety

      Hi there. That is a great question! The Nord Piano 4 would be able to not only layer different pianos, but also different synth patches, and normally the number of layers that you are able to do is based off of the polyphony that the piano is able to do, and if you are wanting to do 40 layer one notes or do multiple chord progressions. Feel free to give us a call and we will be able to walk you through that a bit more and dive in deeper!

However, pre-layered piano sounds are available for download from the Nord Piano Library, and these can be combined additionally with a synth/sampled sound. Question: apologies if you answer this in the video; but, can you map the entire keyboard? For example, A0-C3 Bosendorfer Imperial, C#3-C5 Steinway Concert D, etc? There are certain piano models that I find better within their certain ranges. I was just curious about the mapping. I know you can split two tones.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Před 3 lety

      Hello! Great question - the Nord Piano4 won't quite do what you're looking for. Nord pianos have a few pre-defined split points, indicated by green LEDs above the keybed (there are two split points per octave throughout the middle of the keyboard, but you can't chose which key is at the edge of the split point, you're fixed to Cs and Fs). Also, the Piano 4 can blend between sounds from its two separate piano and synth/sample engines, but you can't have two piano sounds (or two synth/sample sounds) layered at the same time, unfortunately. You won't be able to set part of the keyboard range to a Bosendorfer and part to a Steinway. This IS something you can do with the higher end Stage3, for what it's worth.

      Steinways are definitely excellent pianos, as Bosendorfer and similar.
      Are they worth the HUGE price difference compared to a Yamaha?
      I don't think so either...
      Assuming it is in good shape, an acoustic piano is usually as good as the technician who tuned, voiced and set it up properly...

    • @stenaldomehilli8809
      @stenaldomehilli8809 Před 3 lety

      You've played acoustic pianos... then how comes you don't understand that in the entire digital piano industry no company gives you a more authentic tone than that of the Nord? They might fall behind keyscape, VSL or Spitfire, (and by a small margin at that ), but if one plays acoustics and if he / she got a good musical ear there's no way for him or her to not see the enormous advantage of the Nord in piano tone reproduction. Yes they are expensive, surely they got things to improve but in terms of sound they remain unmatched in these very seconds that i'm writing this comment.
      P.S. I completely agree with what you said about the acoustic pianos. They are as good as their tuners! ☺️
      Best!

      I had the chance to try several nord models and I am NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL about their piano sound (and their keyboard action too). So what you say is totally your opinion, not a fact. Personally I prefer the Kawai piano sound. I recently bought an MP7SE, for a bit more than 1/3 of the price of the piano in this video and I really wouldn't replace it with that nord. So let's agree to (totally) disagree.

      @stenaldomehilli8809 Před 3 lety

      @@TheEndlessquest4k But it's not about what we like ... It's about what sounds more authentic. Kawai's not bad, but you, or rather I would never confuse it with an acoustic piano. There's no comparison at all. I don't own a nord but judging from what I've heard I can say with certainty that Nord piano sounds can compare with top VSTs, being not too far from them in terms of quality. And the best VSTs sound far better than all digital pianos in the market currently.
