    I got the S21 FE for $525, just waiting for it in the mail. I don't think it's fair to compare retail price with used/refurbished prices as companies can't be expected to compete with prices on Ebay for example, but we definitely need to consider deals on new phones in our price comparison. All the deals around for this phone at the moment make it a no brainer over the Pixel 6 for anyone on the fence. Some people are dedicated to the Pixel line and want that stock Android experience and aren't interested in this phone at all, and other people who have to have the "latest" model (even though this just came out) will go for the S22 lineup. I don't get a new phone every year, and the update policy for this phone is better than the Pixel, even though that has stock Android. Snapdragon 888 has been the flagship chip until just now, so I don't think most people will notice the difference between this and the 8gen in normal daily use. I was almost drawn into the S22 Ultra hype, but I can't justify spending twice as much on a phone I know won't give me twice as much benefit with the way I use the phone. For some people it'll be worth it, but for most of us I'm guessing it won't be.

    It's all genius marketing. By pricing the s21 fe like what they did (high at launch then drop), they pushed potential buyers to S22 line first and then s21 fe. At the end of day, Samsung sold more devices, thus the strategy is better than having both line reasonably priced since the beginning.

    I think the S21 FE is likely a better way to go than the A53. A53 is nice, but you're still getting a more premium device with the S21 in the long run. In some respects the A53 is a step down from the A52, where as the FE is giving you 90% of what you'd want from a Samsung flagship phone. More discerning and tech savvy users might miss that 10%, but the non tech savvy will be very very happy with what they get.

I don’t think it’s worth the upgrade this time around. If the bezel on the s23fe wasn’t so thick I would have definitely upgraded. I just hate the looks of the bezel. 6gb of ram should be enough for android 12, but future versions of android might be more ram intensive so it probably is worthwhile to get the 8gb version. The ram boost feature might mitigate the need for large amounts of ram as it loads background apps into virtual memory on the ROM freeing up some ram, but it's an imperfect substitute.

    $549 for the S21 FE is a brillent price: If it's £549 for 6GB RAM+ 128GB ROM and £619 for 8GB RAM+256GB ROM in the Uk then this smartphone is priced perfect. The FE should be 100 pounds/dollers more than the topend of A range smartphone and 200 pounds/dollers less than the S22 . This is where this smartphone fits on scale!
    Before it was £70 less than the standard S22 , which I was thinking this is a wrip off for an FE model to be at £699. I would have said to myself the S22 would be better in terms of being a £70 difference between both models...

    • @TechOdyssey
      @TechOdyssey  Před 2 lety

      @@aprolifix I do not. But here’s the thing. As long as you aren’t using all of the RAM you have, you won’t notice any difference at all. When you are using your phone a certain amount of RAM is already being used by your phone (about 1.5-2gb), so usually you about 4GB free with a 6gb phone. The largest apps on the App Store take about 4GB, and this is something like Fortnite or Genshin Impact. This pretty much maxes out your RAM, but the good news is that since you are running a game like this you aren’t multitasking or doing anything else so you won’t have any issues. Running multiple apps on a phone like the Fold or S22 Ultra for instance, means a larger RAM requirement, or when using DeX and using several apps at once. Even that shouldn’t really be much of an issue with this phone. If you get to the maximum amount of RAM uses by loading a bunch of apps, it will start kicking programs out of the active memory to make sure you have enough available and then If you go back to an app you had open, it will reopen it for you. I have not run into any RAM issues with 6gb of RAM phones or higher in years. It’s perfectly fine. 8 is nice, but 6 is perfectly fine. The extra RAM is just a buffer for large scale multitasking and needed for things like high resolution textures on 1440p screens.
