    ATTENTION: There has been a rule change between this prototype and the final version of the game. Each dwelling now lets a player score up to 3 cards of any elemental type once the game is over. This means if you have 1 dwelling and 4 cards then you'll only score 3 of those cards.

    Excellent playthrough as always Jon, this really does look like a fascinating game. I like the variety of things players have to keep in mind like dungeons, quests and where they stand on the elemental tracks. The idea that not all elements will be used in each game gives it a great deal of replayability given no two games will be alike. I must say I thought this looked like it would be a heavier game but it's more of a medium weight it looks like.

      I agree, it's a nice playthrough! :) But by far not "excellent" with all these corrections. 😅

      I was going to leave my own comment but you pretty much captured my thoughts. That you only use 4-5 powers out of 8 (for 2-3 player games), means that every game will have a different mix of adventure cards and monsters to play with, so makes every game feel very different each time. I’m really excited to play it - shame I didn’t back a copy!

    Thanks, just got it yesterday and will hopefully get it to the table this weekend.

    Looks like there was a rule change after the preview copies went out, which limits you to scoring a total of 3 adventure cards per dwelling you built (element type doesn't matter), so for any new viewers watching this, at about the 1:16:50 mark, you would have only been able to score 6 cards instead of 7 or 8 (counting your starter card). But you did score that part correctly based on the rules you were playing under at the time. Thanks for the playthrough!

      Thank you for pointing this out. I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles in this video as well as to the tutorial to explain this.

    Just bought the game from breaking games website. Looking forwards for it to arrive. Your videos were the inspiration I needed 😍😊

    At 1:00:00 the demon of might would immolate the red dwelling. Edit: Saw you had previously answered, however did a search on it and the ability when not dominated affects everyone. When dominated it affects everyone but the owner. Since it says, "moves into or is placed in a realm," this shows it is always active as a dominated monster does not move on it's own into another realm.

      Make sure you turn on the Klingon subtitles, there was a slight change to how cards are scored at the end of the game that is described there.

    Very informative playthrough. Nice work! While there is a lot of systems in DoE, it seems like the decision space is very manageable (yet satisfying), since your worker placement is usually limited to 3-5 hex spots either by opponent pieces or by adjacency to your own pieces.

    27:10 you meant to say sword, not tool ;-)
    29:24 you do not discard quest cards on completion, you tuck them into your player board in case you have a prophecy that gives you VP for quests.
    1:00:00 Did you remember to immolate the ogre’s dwelling with the monsters ability?

    • @chrisimershein4370
      @chrisimershein4370 Před 3 lety

      Yes, I was about to add a comment that around czcams.com/video/c1ANzaUxFpc/video.html (29:18) you may want to add a Klingon subtitle that Quest cards should be tucked under your player board instead of being discarded. (and again at 30:49 )

    If anyone is interested in the probability analysis of the combat I recommend using the site anydice and inputting this: output [highest 1 of 3d6] - [highest 1 of 1d6]
    that's a 1 v 3 dice. You can change accordingly. Basically any result under 0 means the 1 die player won. A 0 means a tie, but since the 1 die player has no second die, he loses as well.

    58:30 the Demon of Might rushed into the water realm. Doesn't that trigger Immolate (moved into a realm with a dwelling) causing red to discard a resource or lose a VP since it rushed into the realm with red's dwelling?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  Před 3 lety

      I believe the Immolate effect only happens when that Demon of Might is being dominated by a player.

    15:15 You could still pull the workers in to gain swords though right? Even if they can't add dice.
    Edit: Ah you mention it a couple of mins later :)

    27:09 I don't know if it's overly redundant, but you again refer to using the lightning bolt spell card against the golem, which is still immune to spell cards.

    At 06:15, can't you also somehow consume the monster and get to control it? I heard that was possible, could anyone maybe clarify this? Thank you! :)

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  Před 3 lety

      It's on my list to try on TTS. I really liked what I saw when I filmed the tutorial but haven't had a chance yet to play the final version. I hope to make that happen in the next week or two.

      @mesa176750 Před 3 lety

      @@JonGetsGames That's good! the new mod on TTS is pretty good, I've played it myself a couple weeks ago. It makes the game a lot easier to set up than the physical copy.
