The Sphere in Las Vegas - A Closer Look

Like many people, we've heard of the #Sphere but never saw it in person. We've been to Vegas many times, but all we saw was a dark steel structure under construction. We couldn't imagine how cool it would turn out to be.
The Sphere is more than a super IMAX movie. To us, the robot experience is a huge part of the show. We've read about various World Fairs in the past where new technologies are showcased, giving glimpses into the future and inspiring generations of dreamers. Well, this gives you a bit of that experience. You can see it in the amazement and enthusiasm of kids, and adults alike. The android experience lets people experience AI in a way they can understand: physically, and in a natural, non-scary way. Walking through the exhibit and watching various human-robot interactions, I suddenly realized that it's not only real, but natural to live around humanoid robots. Far fetched scenes in Star Trek and other sci-fi movies are suddenly here, and they feel...right.
All in all, the Sphere is quite amazing and definitely adds to the Las Vegas experience. Check it out if you have a chance.

This structure costs 2.3 Billion dollars to build.
It is the largest and highest definition screen in the world.
It features 167,000 speakers, amplifiers, and processing channels.
It has over 17,600 seats and can hold up to 20,000 people.

I heard they're facing some delays because "residents have fought for two years to stop this structure that will tower over local homes, cause unsustainable levels of traffic, and generate an unprecedented amount of light pollution in the area." Hopefully it will get resolved and be built in the future.
