📼Video Summary:
The Sphere is an entertainment venue that was completed in September of 2023. It was built just off the Las Vegas Strip. It has the largest 360 degree wrap around LED screen in the world. It has 1.2 million lights - these are nicknamed "Hockey Pucks" because of their size and shape. The inside has 9 different levels, but the public will be mostly concerned with 7 of them. On the Main Level is the Atrium which has lots to do before your show. Aura the Robot uses AI to interact with those around her. There is also a holographic grid above your head which looks like something straight out of Star Trek. There 160,000 speakers directly behind the screen. These use Beamforming Technology to give you "headset sound without the headset". Combine this with Haptic Technology which will gives viewers a completely immersive experience. But don't take my word for it, you have see it for yourself.

the robot, and the fact that the audio can be heard in multiple languages at the same time which is insane :0

Can you make a video on The Louvre that would be interesting!!!
if you're wondering what that patch of asphalt just north of the Sphere is. That's the "Sphere Chicane" that they use in F1
It confused me a first because the reference images kept show different things.
It was originally going to be a hairpin turn before it was turned into a chicane when designing the final layout of the track.

What kind of idiot thought it was a good idea to put a race way in a busy city?
wow muito legal
Oh man, that IMAX comparison is crazy 😮
The comparison with the statue of liberty is crazier
Size comparisons really put things in perspective for me too!
IMAX has been quiet since that
I went to vegas for christmas, first time in the USA. I didn't go in the Sphere, but my hotel room had a view onto it and I'd just sit watching the patterns whilst drinking my beer. The snow globe one really blew my mind!
From which hotel could you see it?
I know a thing or two about 3D modeling and rendering, and about animation and video editing. This little 10 minute video is a work of art, and probably represents 1000 hours of work. 🙂
I saw Postcard Earth, it was a great demo movie. I was in the front of the 400 level, two sections left. Some of the scenes naturally had a spherical distortion, but mostly it was realistic. If you have fear of heights, you'll be thrilled just getting to your seat.
Tip: The time on the ticket was entry time, showtime was 1 hr later. When I went, they let the line in a half hour early.
Great to hear your experience with it. I'll be curious what other movies they'll make to show on the screen!
Those speakers are blowing my mind though. Were you able to hear everything clearly?
Would you reccomand the 400 level? In terms of price vs experience
@@kwkaior no matter where you sit, it’ll sound like you’re getting the best sound
@@erangabay yes definitely
do you ever go to these locations and ask for a tour and show that you want to make a video like this? i mean these animations are incredible
Yes! I have asked for tours before. A lot of the modeling for this one is based off of reference images and other vlogs
@@JaredOwen thanks, i'm huge fans to all cutaway drawings and animation, and i'm amazed how detail you're explaining this....
@@JaredOwenThe fact that you found all that out but couldn’t figure out what’s on those two floors 😂. Great stuff man.
The beamforming speakers were not what I thought!
exactly what I thought. Cool but not mind bending. The AI on the other hand, a little to terminator for me.
why does the comment have "N1ome of the game" infront ofi t
The speakers are designed and made by a company called HOLOPLOT. They do truly incredible work with beamforming. Not just in the horizontal axis like others they can beamform in 3D space, much like aiming a floodlight
Very cool stuff - the tech still blows my mind
@@JaredOwen A question: at 8:00, the 3D Model of the speakers ... I was wondering, whether the smaller circular segments scattered irregularly all around were an issue of the 3D-Model, or actually intentional 🤔
Wall of Sound perfected! Phil Spector is smiling down from heaven...
@@ClockMaster-mq2hmthis scattering is intended. I looked them up a few weeks ago on their website and was also confused, but that's how they can beam the sound
@@206BenJammin Phil Spector is a murderer. He ain't in heaven.
Las vegas local here! I have not been inside the sphere (yet), but seeing the exterior is incredible. Even from miles away it dominates the skyline. I have driven close by it once, and it was displaying a cascading glitter effect that faded into a shimmering geometric pattern in colors of gold and silver. Really awesome.
Imagine if Las Vegas had a natural skyline instead of a sphere of ads
@@drockjr nah, let Vegas be the oddball. Plus for scenic non-city skylines we got Mount Charleston and Red Rocks to the west, making a great backdrop for sunsets and sunrise.
@@drockjr i did imagine that.
Boring as hell.
This may be the first video he's done that sounds like an ad.
I thought about this too. Cool! If more brands sponsor him we will have more videos
@@EdsonJuniordj yes but if it's sponsored he's required to state this!
It totally worked though. This was the first video from him that really made me want to go visit the place in person!
No more so than his videos “What’s Inside the Eiffel Tower” or “…Space Needle”. Doesn’t mean they are ads. 🤷🏻♂️
@@glynnetolar4423 Doesn't mean they are going to
Fun fact: The Las Vegas Strip is not located in the City of Las Vegas. Its actually located in the unincorporated town of Paradise.
Ahh interesting! I didn't know that
Yup, and CGP Grey did a short video about this years ago. czcams.com/video/naDCCW5TSpU/video.html
And how many people have gone to Las Vegas ,but never found Paradise.
I saw the U2 concert there and it was an incredible experience. I was very interested in learning more about the technology behind the scenes. Thank you for this great video!
Glad I could help Michael - and thanks for watching the video!
Interesting. I've never heard about The Sphere. It would be nice to attend a concert in such place. Thanks Jared.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
No wonder, it's quite new.
Dead and co playing there next
@@gopackgo4036 Phish is playing there next in April after U2 is done, then Dead and Co in May, June and July on three day weekends.
Eddy Burback did a amazing video about visiting the sphere
Parents: Honey, don’t sit too close to the TV
The Sphere: 👀
This kind of preview makes me feel a lot more comfortable going to a venue. Knowing what to expect relaxes me and I can spend more time enjoying what's there. Other venues should pay you to do this for them.
That'd be awesome! I'm also planning to do more venues like this in the future so stay tuned if you're interested!
This combination of architecture and technology is really amazing!! Great job providing us with all of the really cool details!
Thanks Teddy!
I saw this building late last year. It's quite something!
Glad you got to go see it!
Love that you give context to the building in terms of geography and how to get there, really sets the stage well to fully understand the structure!
Thanks! I always try to give as much detail as possible to not leave out any plot holes within these videos for the best viewer experience possible!
The active, spatial sound control is most fascinating to me!
Another great video, Jared!
Been waiting for this video for a month, so excited to watch it.
Seriously!!! How is there so much information and 3d animation so regularly uploaded. This channel surely deserves more recognition
Thank you for that!
The worlds most overengineered planetarium
I was at the sphere Nov 23rd 2023. The seats are like Disney world attractions in Florida. The film is awesome. If you actually look at the people on the screen. You might see your face in the group of people on projection screens. It was a unique experience. But if you are in fear of heights sit lower. I sat up top and watch the view. I can't figure out which had the better sound system. Allegiant stadium or the sphere. Nonetheless a good time ❤❤
How much did it cost you???
Left out was the cost of admission. Personally, the dollar cost would be trivial when compared to the need to go to Las Vegas to experience the Sphere. I lived there 40 some years ago, and if I ever return it will be much too soon. Nice presentation, as always!
Thanks Vector - I probably should have included something about price but the problem is that that information changes so quickly!
I hope you were able to take a “business trip” to gather intel for this project!
It's true - not many people could consider something like that a business trip😂
This past fall In my first semester of architecture school I got to meet a few people from the firm who designed the sphere.
it is totally amazing. when I noticed what you said about the speakers, I would like to say no words to imagine how cool that is. I hope that one day I can visit by my self.
Wow! So happy for this video Jared. Thank you so much man!
Thanks Salada!
Jared, you are getting better all the time, man!!! Fantastic job with this video. I honestly learned a ton in this video. Thank you, again!!!
Thank you!
For clarification, The Las Vegas Strip isn´t in Las Vegas. It´s in Paradise, an unincorporated town adjacent to Las Vegas.
I can’t help but applaud you Jared. Nice job
Excellent production, as always! Thank you for all the great videos Jared!
Thanks James!
Please make a video about Formula 1! Like what’s inside the car, the race suit, the helmet, the team pit wall and stuff!
I think he's done 1 video covering how f1 car works. 20 minutes of video.
WOW ! ! ! The technology and electronics of the sphere is incredible. I majored in electronics and microwave communication, working 35 years for a major telecommunication company. This is absolutely mind boggling how far technology and led lighting has advanced.
I hope more bands can perform in it
Wow.... Amazing educational and graphic genius! Thanks so much Jared for making my beer taste even better watching your video! I'm so impressed with your content... I'm all in on upcoming projects. Thanks and keep 'em comin !
Thank you Tony! Already in progress on the next animation, I'm trying to get these vids out faster
Always love your videos.
Seen everyone of them
thank you for being a fan! I appreciate the views
Was worth the wait Jared!! Great like always. Cheers from Chile my friend!!
I just visited the Sphere on 04/22/2024. All I can say is AMAZING!!! I purchased $150 ticket for the center seat and it’s so worth. I really recommend the 200 or 300 floor center seat for the best view.
Jared always plugging us with the quality animations 😊
Thank you!
As long as tickets cost $100+ this isn’t gonna be revolutionary or change the way we see movies or concerts in any way
Ever heard of trickle down technology? This is an example of trickle-up technology, where tech that's been around for a long time is simply being scaled up massively for much larger audiences. Beamforming or directional audio has been around for decades, and has been used in home theater speaker bars and separates for more than a decade. LED walls for homes are still quite expensive, but are quickly dropping in price.
True - some of those ticket prices are getting pretty steep😮
When he said “steep” he wasn’t kidding! Takes some getting used to. U2 rocked though.
Your descriptions and illustrations are the best. So much clear and informative information that makes me in awe of the inventors, as well as Jared Owen, who is an amazing creator himself. kudos.
Thank you dbeach! I really try to give as much infromation about these crafts as possible and I'm glad you recognize that!
Please explain in what way those spinning LEDs have anything at all to do with holography.
The word "hologram" has a specific meaning and it does NOT mean 2D images that are simply transparent.
That includes 2D images projected or reflected on transparent screens (Tupac et al.)
no way 57 seconds ago
WOOOOOOOOOOO
I like you put your intro on the screen in the Las Vegas Sphere theater.
That was an EXCELLENT video - I especially appreciated the geography section at the beginning. It's those little things that can completely ground new information.
Hello My friend
When I hear that Jared uploaded, I dropped everything I came here
😀
Same here 😂
This thing consume A LOT electricity so much that Starbucks ask their consumer to use soggy straw
Me and my wife are vegas locals and seen U2UV two time there the first time was so incredible we had to go back for a second show. It is a game changer for live music performances the place is magical.
Is this video sponsored? It just seems like Jared went way out of his way to heap praise upon this thing at every chance he got. Having seen so many other reviews that said it was only so-so, it's hard to see why Jared can't help himself but paint everything in the most positive light possible. I didn't want him to say it sucks or anything, but the overly reverential choice of words that are consistently used throughout this video didn't sit right with me.
Not sponsored😀 But you're right, I probably could have added a few criticisms to make it more accurate
I think it's excitement for novel new construction design and implementation of cutting-edge technology than endorsement.
I’m sure Jared will give you double whatever you had to pay to watch it. It’s only the very negative people who have problems with the positivity of others.
Your illustrative models are fantastic. Great video, man. 👍
gonna be real i didn’t know there was a building inside thought it was just a ball
What an awful building, but the tech sounds nice
fun fact my grandma recently saw the las Vegas sphere and she said it was huge, and the lines were long. and also you can actually put yourself on the BIG screen while you're there :D
I’ve always wanted to visit Las Vegas, and now I wanna visit the strip and the sphere even more now! The inside looks so cool! That new technology is wild. Great video, and fantastic animation as always :D
thanks for watching!
I absolutely love your videos! As a resident of Chicago, it would be cool if you did one on the Sears Tower.
I also love your series on how technology and machines work. I'm a makeup artist, and I actually discovered you from your bowling pinsetter video (I was doing a gag in a bowling alley, a guy stuck in a pinsetter, and I wanted to know what I was getting into). More of these please!
Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you for putting a lot of time and effort into your video animations and dialog! Your videos are interesting and fascinating as well as digestable! Keep on, keepin on!
Thank you I really appreciate that! Currently working hard on a new project so do stay tuned!
Dead and Company recently booked the Sphere!!!
yeah I just saw that actually - the first day and my video is already out of date😋
This should be a video that gets shown in the main hall, to explain the Sphere. Besides the robots and the stadium, people don't get to learn about the building itself when you're there
Extraordinary video as always!!!! Take a bow @JaredOwen. Please be more frequent as the wait for your videos are unmanageable.
Jared you gotta do one about typewriters.
I want to see Jared examine the USS Enterprise from Star Trek, any version
Maybe someday I'll do something like that😀
Now I want to see a show there more! I’ve seen the outside and that alone is astonishing.
That was a great video, loved your animation breakdown of the structure. Looking forward to watching more of these, keep it up!
Thank you! I'm currently working really hard on my next video that I hope you enjoy!
Exemplary animation, marvelous technology 👌
Wow! This's the first I've heard about this. Absolutely amazing. 👏😁👍
Absolutely amazing! I'm always looking forward to new uploads from Jared!
Thank you Ken!
I can’t believe this is the first time I’m hearing about the speakers! What a feat of engineering
I wonder how many of those 2.3 billion dollars went to the structure of the building and how many went for screens, speakers, wiring, controllers and programming. Amazing piece of engineering!
Congratulations for the video!
Owen now has even more humor😂😂
The speaker technology was considered by the airline Virgin America about a decade ago as a possible way to immerse passengers in their in-flight entertainment without earbuds or headphones and without bothers others around them. We tried it out and it was cool to see how accurate the speakers could be! Right in front of them you hear it like normal, but aim it away a bit (or move a few degrees to the side) and it quickly fades away.
Building this thing was quite a challenge for all involved.....
Keeping it something people will still want to visit 10 years from now will be a MUCH bigger one....
Keep up the great animations! I check everyday to see if you uploaded awesome work!!!!!
Thanks for this. I have been 3 times to see U2 and am going 3 more times before their residency ends. I appreciate the technical specs and the cross view visuals. 👍
The amount of hours you put into each video must be mind boggling. Incredibly high quality
Saw U2 there 3x. 400, 100, and ground level. Each show was unbelievable!
Which section did you like best and why ? Thanks, I’m going to see Dead and Co. soon
@@1deadhead I’d say section 406 was amazing because we were dead center and could see absolutely everything. The effects were beyond amazing and no video on YT can quite capture how cool it was.
But being on the floor was a whole different experience. That was our fav cuz we were right by the band. So I didn’t pay as much attention to the screen like I did the other two times.
Your work is amazing, pal, I always enjoy watching your videos and learning with the detailed animations
Thank you Luis!
Ok this observation by far looks past these minute details you’ve added, BUT YOU DID A MASSIVE SECTION OF THE STRIP TOO!?? That really helps for comparing the scale(s)
Well you sold me! That looks incredible. So many innovative ideas went into constructing this sphere. Great video Jared!
Thank you Darren! I really enjoyed learning about how this was created as well
Might take a trip to vegas pretty soon to see this thanks for explaining everything in detail.
I hope your trip goes well!
See you all there for PHISH! 🤘
Rock on!
Thanks Jared, that's a great breakdown of the Sphere!
Absolutely fantastic animation and illustrations! Great analysis with exceptional info! Thanks!
Honestly, I was lowkey waiting for this video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Amazing job! Thank you so much
I’ve been to Las Vegas before on Christmas break and I was never too late for anything I also filmed some videos there with the mannii show
The luxurious building received respect and respect from the architects and designers.
It looks amazing when driving around Vega. It looked like they were building a death star for so long before it was finished.
🤣 true - that would have been very interesting to drive by if you didn't know what it was
It's good that you explained where it is on the map, because this city is little visited and people don't know it.
Thanks, thats answered a whole lot of questions, i didn´t even know i had about it :)
When I watch your videos I think that I am seeing the actual place . The details of your videos are amazing 🎉🎉
Thanks Jared for representing all these amazing technologies with brilliant informative videos
Jared, you're the first video that showed the Sphere satisfactorily. And I looked at a bunch.
Jared, an INCREDIBLE and thorough presentation. Thank you.
Thanks for the animation. I must say I am more interested in the speakers than the sphere. The sphere is a variation, overblown, of the usual amphitheater been around for millenia.
Seems like a stripped down version of a Planetarium with a 'screen' on the outside and a pretty cool sound system.
You know, a cool thing to see you cover would be the pipe organ. Its so majestic and beautiful, but i cant find anything on youtube that really explains how it works.
