*** THANKS TO WORLD OF LONGPLAYS FOR SOME OF THE GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE ** - Hry
So many games... only one life to live.. my wife is always telling me I play way to many games... I’m 65 yrs old! 😂
I'm 41. I stopped playing video games at 30. At 35, Shenmue 3 had a kickstsrter and I got back into games and at 38, I went back and started playing old school games I missed and have average 25 a year since.
At least you still have a wife...
teach me your ways. Have games looking for a wife
Tell her to get in the Godam kitchen
@@1georgekitchen Soo, the lesson is, don't stop playing video games??
“Why Mass Effect 2? That seems a little weird, right?”
Everyone who’s played ME2: “Makes perfect sense.”
Yup. I made the mistake of playing ME2 first, and then hating 1 when I played it, and not so much liking 3. I wish I'd played 1 first so I appreciated just how damn good 2 was after. Playing 2 first, I had expectations 1 and 3 would be nearly as good, and both were half as good.
Then I played Andromeda, which hit home just how perfect ME2 actually was. Easily a 10/10 game
@@pittibarlin8692 yea you kinda made a mistake there, not that i hate the first mass effect i remember it fondly but mass effect 2 was just a "sequel done right" in every way and when i played it after the first one i was hooked to the series, it jumped from being "a cool universe" to the best "sci fi videogame" with the second one.
Only some weird purists like to bash mass effect 2 calling it "casual", i agree they made it more casual...but at the same time so much more fun, better looking, more immersive less clunky more interesting.
exactly
Came here to say this lol.
Hell yeah me2
I remember being addicted to Mass Effect being unable to sleep playing it so much haha. ME2 was perfection.
I hated how ME2 took so much of the RPG element away
Absolutetly. The second ME was not only a thrilling action game. It was very emotional and I fell in love with some of the characters.
Definitely! The ME trilogy is among my favorite games ever. I'm currently playing through the Legendary Edition, and so far it certainly lives up to the original. I'm just hoping they finally fixed the infamous 'Blackout glitch', but I'll find out soon enough.
@@pnut3844able this is exactly why I preferred ME1. Sniping was very difficult but got easier as you pumped points into the ability, just as it should be. I didn't enjoy how ME2 just became an action game. Also having a universal cool down for abilities instead of a cool down for each ability meant you couldn't do combos anymore and made abilities a lot less useful and fun. I used to love lifting an enemy and combining it with push to throw them into space.
I have a bit of an embarrasing question... You know pretty early on in the game I dont remember after which section but when you get introduced to your new ship. Well im kinda stuck Im not sure how I visit a planet or where Im supposed to go to start the story who am I supposed to talk to? Ive been wandering aimlessly and just stopped playing after that Im so confused
Best puzzle game for me is Portal 2. That game is just perfection. Incredibly well designed levels and mechanics. Hilarious voiceover work, great music. I am begging for a current gen remake of the 2 portal games! 🙏🏻
Portal 2 was pretty tough.
My goat puzzle game is Baba is you. You should definitely check it out. If you were able to beat portal 2 on your own, baba is you is gonna be a great challenge.
Yea I feel like he shouldn't have said Tetris for the same reason he didn't say original Mario Bros. Yes Tetris is a puzzle game no question but yeah, Portal 2 should have been at least an honorable mention.
Honestly, screw "best puzzle game", portal 2 is just my "best game" in general lmao
The Switch is about to get Portal 1 & 2, so that might mean there’s a remaster in the works for the other consoles (as well as PC).
13:04 Metal Jesus loves Burnout 3 so much he used its title card for SSX Tricky.
Ahahhahaah i see that too !!! Burnout 3 Takedown is in everywhere......kkkkkk
of course he does its an amazing game
I love the Snowboard event in Burnout 3!
Has one of the best soundtracks too
*its

Epic gamer moment "I'm going to shoot this red barrel and it'll explode"
>shoots barrel
>nothing happens
SEE!! I'm not alone!! HAHAHA
Check 5:04 and 5:34. To me that's kind of the difference between a classic and a non-classic (sorry mr. Rocking Metaljesus)
Eyso it is sometimes said that a game is only as good as the amount of time it takes it to introduce a red explosive barrel next to an enemy. Half Life takes that overused concept of lazy game design and makes it the center of some brilliant puzzles. That’s a classic.
So what I know right? We still see them in current games which just wrong.
I remember reading and article about game design, and during some test games for some game (can't remember which one) the developers noticed that NONE of the test players where shooting at the barrels. Why? Because they wheren't red, but green.
I wish you have mentioned Zelda Ocarina of Time. A total classic and a MUST play for all gamers.
Breath of the Wild is better tho.
@@brett6239 They are both good in their own way. You are comparing a game that is 2 decades old to a new game. Have some decency.
@@brett6239 botw overrated asf
For puzzle game, I'd put Portal 2 as my recommendation. Excellent mix of story and puzzles, and superb voice acting.
Honestly the genre ranking is so weird and wrong. Agreed tho.
yeah the voice acting really elevates the game with classic quotes. Love the "welcome....TO MY LAIR" and Wheatley trying to get to jump off of the platform surrounded by spikes at the end of the game. If you actually do he even has an alternate voice line that is hilarious.
This would make an awesome recurring series. 10 MORE!
yes! with more categories. fighting game, horror game, simulation games etc.
that's a good idea, just kind of ironically keep releasing the top 10 must play games over and over with different games
Agreed with this big time. Would absolutely watch more iterations of this, even reiterations with the same categories but different games, just because!
I was about to suggest this!
Great idea!
You needed a "Survival Horror" category... Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc.
Trust me. He’s got lots of videos on just that . Peep it. (One of the best categories)
ahem...Alien Isolation...
No no no, for sure resident evil 1 or 4
Silent hill 2 is a must
Silent Hill 2
You are awesome! It’s so enjoyable to just hear the passion that you pour into the games - and it’s not because you have to be positive - well this is a best of video, but generally… you just pour energy into everything you do. It feels so great to listen to your voice over these games. You’re doing a great job. I’m a bit late to this video, but keep this stuff up. You’re doing a great job!!!
It feels refreshing to hear someone say thank you for subscribing instead of don't forget to like and subscribe
Wears Zelda shirt without puttin any Zelda’s on the list ***. AAAAHHHH
he should wear a LJN shirt and then do a top 10 worst of the worst LJN games ever. that would be funny interesting and so unique. end the video by showing the best LJN game (i think spiderman on snes was the best one they ever made). believe it or not, LJN made MANY games for nes snes and especially gameboy: nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/LJN
7:45 you schmupp
@@RandomHeroFromSpace Yeah, he mentioned Breath of the Wild, but he didn't put it on the list.
@@RandomHeroFromSpace Did you just use the abbreviation for 'shoot em up' as an insult?
I don't think Zelda is for everyone. I personally can't stand the series.
If I were to take your formatting I'd go:
RPG - Xenoblade Chronicles
Platformer - Super Mario World
FPS - Doom
Puzzle - Tetris
Open World - Zelda BOTW
Racing - F-Zero GX
Sports - SSX Tricky
3D Platformer - Super Mario Galaxy
3rd Person Action Adventure - Resident Evil 4
Strategy - C&C: Red Alert
I could agree with this list a lot more than with the list in the video.
Maybe 3-4 games I could argue about:
Racing: Burnout Revenge
3rd person action: Devil May Cry 3
Strategy: Warcraft 3 - TFT
Red Alert 2 IMHO
F-Zero GX is one of my favorite games of all time, but I think that it's not for everyone.
Great list, by the way
Awesome choices. I'm with you
@@PatrickMurta I could never beat the second race on story mode, but as a local multiplayer game it was one of the best.
Wow, this is an excellent video. This is an EXCELLENT list. I agree that if someone is trying to decide which game to play. One could enjoy most of these games right off the bat.
He didn't include any fighting games, the list is flawed
First of all, amazing shirt! Secondly, I can only imagine how difficult it was to only select a handful of games for this list! Cheers and rock on, Metal Jesus!
I loved sport games before micro transactions became a thing
Same. The 90s has some of the best sports games in my opinion.
The hayday of sports games were the 2000s
Offline is still good
Fifa Street was the best football game of all time
2k football on Dreamcast was great. Better than madden. Then Madden bought the rights to NFL and has been stunted ever since. I've played it every year for the roster updates but I think competition would have been good for the series.
10:00 He's gonna say Burnout, he's gonna say Burnout, he's gonna say Burnout, of course he said Burnout. I love Burnout 3.
I'm as predictable as next Thursday. 🤪
@@MetalJesusRocks don't jinx us! Lol
I mean, it's because he's right. Maybe people who never got the chance to play crash mode with friends or at a party won't get it. But once you try it with a group of people, you'll realize what a crime it is that it hasn't been replicated on modern hardware.
Burnout 3 is a gem of epic proportions because the sequels just never actually improved on it, and even removed key modes that made it great.
Imagine a modern simultaneous multiplayer crash mode variation... Ugh.
@@MetalJesusRocks have you played the top down burnout crash mode game? If it's still available it was a digital only. I think i have it on my 360. Definitely helps fill that void.
What i love about these videos, is that a 50 year old man is still so dedicated to video games. Lots of people lose interest as the years go by. And I've been asked multiple times if "I'm not too old" to be playing and collecting.
never lose faith mate. if you love it you love it im 53 rock on bbc b ELITE !
@@shaun8062 That's' not what I said at all :) I just said that a lot of people lose interest as they grow older. I'm 40 myself, so it wasn't a negative comment.
You forgot Minecraft, that’s it’s own magical category , that’s what got me into gaming and that’s what keeps me there. If you haven’t played the 2nd best selling game of all time your missing out
@alan caprock You mean shudder?
Also, I support you GalacticGames, I also think Minecraft deserves a spot in the spotlight, even if it may not be in my top ten games, I can see why it makes other people's top lists.
@alan caprock
You catch on quick, that was precisely my intention, but just like I knew you meant “shudder”, you already knew my intentions as well.
What exactly about liking Minecraft makes you “shudder”? A normal, non-dick response would be “I disagree” or “I think Minecraft has a lot of issues that people don’t really address which is why I’m glad he didn’t include it” but you went with “You just made me shutter.” And IMO my response was warranted
It's a best selling game everyone and their moms know of that game. Seems pointless to include it
Katamari Damacy, that is the one game that I can show to anyone of any age and they immediately want a turn.
Never heard of it but will look it up and try to get my hands on it.
I gotta agree. Katamari is simple fun, yet so outlandish and funny. Its really a game unto itself without any peers.
Halo3
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Portal 2
Red Dead Redemption
Resident Evil 4
LoZ Ocarina of Time
Just a few games that I personally believe everyone should play at least once
I think you forgot Portal 2...
And The Last of Us
Good list
@@aresk9406 sony exclusive third person action adventure walking sims don't deserve a place
@@catethps try The last of us on grounded Mode and Come back
You need a stealth section as well, my favs are: Thief Gold, Thief 2, Splinter Cell and Deux Ex. I still play these today.
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is my all time favorite game.
Hitman
Snake Eater and Phantom Pain if they count
Thief and assassins' creed
@@rasta7655 hell no. Metal Gear Solid (and maybe MGS2 if you must play another) all the way
Great job picking this out. Burnout 3 is also one of my favorites. I wish Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Super Mario 64 made it onto the list…Super Mario 64 in particular is what got me hooked into gaming. Oh and I loved the honorable mention to Ms Pac-Man. I remember many Summer days at the arcade just playing that one title.
I can’t tell you how many hours i played SSX Tricky, hours and hours every Night for years. Loved it and miss it so much
Honestly after the intro of SSX the rest the game is downhill from there
My brother and I put hundreds of hours into SSX On Tour on GameCube. The soundtrack is amazing. One of the most nostalgic games in existence for me!
What do you mean miss it? You can still play it if you want to
I only have the PS4 so im hoping for a remaster and a remaster of the sabatour some beautiful day 😊
Love Uncarted 2. I had a sister that would sit and watch when I played even thought she never played just because the story and character were that good. It was like an action packed movie. Great game. One of my all time favorites.
What happened to your sister?
@@vinicius401 was just about to comment this lol
Uncharted*
A game without cars? Uncarted? Dont know it
yeah, what happened to your sister? tell us dude
So absolutely correct on Burnout 3. I can't stand the open world versions. Just keep praying they will release a new or remastered version of the classic burnout. Well done sir.
Mass effect 2 is a near perfect RPG, while The Witcher 3 is a perfect RPG.
I would say DOS:II is the perfect RPG. Witcher 3 isn't really a full fledged rpg.
I had the most fun with an RPG playing Blue Dragon. Though I prefer the JRPG style.
We need a multi-platform "Burnout 3: Takedown" remastered version
Indeed !Such a great game . One of my all time favorites
Awesome game
Part 3 was cool. Part 2 was hooooooly Shit!!!! ❤️
Toss up for me between Takedown and Revenge.
I played it on PS2. Underrated game, so much fun!
I still say Super Mario Bros. 3 is my all-time favorite. Glad to see it on here.
Agreed
It's really hard to argue against that.
Yep, my biggest struggle is whether to play the original NES or the SNES remake in All Stars that I grew up on!
Bought it the day it came out at Toys-R-Us, was probably about 8 at the time. Had my allowance money saved up and ready to go. Probably the only game I bought when I was a kid that I hadn't even seen anyone play before because it was so hyped, everyone just knew Nintendo was not fucking around! It did not disappoint. Just the right amount of difficulty. Achievable to pass even without a save/password mechanism, but not something you can beat in 10 minutes like SMB1. Hard to even include 2 in there because it was a very different game. Agree with @Chuck Smith, I usually play the all stars one, cause they did an amazing job just updating the graphics while keeping 100% of the gameplay.
@@craigmjackson that story shook me bro
So glad to have played a majority of these in my youth. As you stated, when we would have non gamer friends over as kids, SSX Tricky and the Burnout games were so accessible that everyone had fun and wanted to keep playing. I have to add that the Conquest mode in Star Wars Battlefronts is among the most fun I've had sitting with someone in a room and playing split screen. The game design was just ok but for some reason that co-op was sooo fun.
I'd put Dragon Age: Origins over Mass Effect 2 for how much freedom there is to roleplay. Mass Effect only let you roleplay as whatever your version of Shepherd was. Origins on the other hand let you craft a unique character complete with an origin story that you get to play through that adds context and meaning to who you choose to be and what your place in the world is, and throughout the game that is reinforced through NPC and Companion dialogue.
Completely agree on this one. Origins is far and away my favorite RPG, American or JRPG.
Dude I told the paunchy elves that steal my dwarf bride before I can marry her that they can do whatever they want if they pay me, even they were surprised. Like. That is just an insane level of character freedom.
And your character's actions effect every other game in the series as well. One of my all time favorite series for rpg
@@masonking2188 Don't forget how you can become Alistair's best friend, then betray him at the Landsmeet to get him executed and have yourself become the King of Ferelden. Agreed, it's bonkers how many choices the game gives you.
Pretty late comment, 'cuz I've just watched this video for the first time. But as soon as I saw 'RPG' I thought exactly the same as you to put Dragon Age: Origins over Mass Effect 2 in it. Like you said, there's so much freedom to roleplay your character and there's so many decisions to make, it's just awesome. To me, DA:O is an RPG masterpiece. I REALLY LOVE the whole ME trilogy, but I still prefer DA:O a bit more. It's my favorite RPG ever made.
Monkey Island, Command & Conquer and Sim City 2000 are always going to be on my list.
I was skeptical going into this video, but then the very first game on the list is one of my all time favorites. Well played sir, well played. You may continue.
Cannot even imagine how difficult it must have been to compile this list. Sooooooooo many games, so many consoles, genres, incredible task.
For me The best 3d platformer would be Super Mario 64. Best strategy would be StarCraft.
Agreed with starcraft although I must say warcraft two and warcraft three were amazing in there own right. Though yes starcraft would probably place higher
You're channel has healed me as a person and all I can say it thank you I love watching your videos are relaxing and very comforting!!
Same thing here.. It helps my anxiety.
A good idea for a video would be games you've not finished.
Either due to time or lost interest etc..
If you look at the achievements, very few people actually finiah the story in many games.
Yeah, I've been playing games since the 80s, and I think I've only completed 40% of the games I've played. Unnecessary grinding, not being able to save at convenient points, stupidly long and boring boss battles and just repetitive gameplay (stand up Assassins Creed) have made me shelve a game forever.
Also just grabbing a new game to check out and getting sucked into it. Then never going back to the game you were playing.
Good idea. Lots of great games but there's always one better.
I'm still sad I never finished GTA: Vice City... Got really really far and then got frustrated with a shooting missions because of the wonky controls...
@@MetalJesusRocks the big friendly giant! I'm going to have a dedicated games room like yourself. Always good content mate. Cheers!
Great choices. Missing VR category might be HL Alyx and mention Lone Echo. Other than that, kudos and try to make this in 1 year to see what would change.
I feel Like God Of War has to be in this, doesn't matter a category, jut by itself, a game that has to be played at least once (But you will probably play it more than once)
Rebooted GOW?
I loved the original on PS2 😍
there’s hundreds of games that should be on this list and everyone’s would be different lol
Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of TIme~~~~~~!!!! i remember crying when i beat it bc it was over! best game of my childhood for suuuuuuureee

Heavy rain was such an amazing experience for me definitely one of my top games
This is why I watch your vids man! Agreed on so many of these, Half life 2, Mario odyssey, uncharted 2!! Spot on video man 👌🏻

Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy 7, Silent Hill 2, Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen, Super Smash Bros Melee, Banjo Kazooie, Halo 2
Good list. We have a couple of cross overs.
Fire red great choice. What do u think of lets go pikachu?
Banjo Kazooie is the perfect 3D platformer. It improved the great Mario 64 in every way.
Meh
That's a good list.
Honestly try out every game on this list. Including the ones where he goes “I love skyrim and breath of the wild buuuut” even try the ones before the but.

Fallout 2 and Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 are some of my favorite RPGs, but Ultima 7 the Black Gate is my all time fav. For shooters I have to go with System Shock 2 being the most complete immersion I've ever seen. Totally agree on Civ for strategy, but Dune 2 deserves a mention as well.
Great list my dude. Straight to the point really good structured as a video. Really good job and thats rare.
The ssx series is amazing! Some of the most fun I've ever had playing a game. I would also include Chrono Trigger and Ocarina of Time.
Ocarina Of Time 🔥🔥🔥
@HJHJ HJHJ the original is a bit dated, there's plenty gameplay issue. But i love the 3ds port
Sid Meier's Pirates! Me and my friend used an entire weekend playing that on his C64. The never-ending adventures in that game is awesome
This game has reincarnated on so many platform. C64, Amiga, Wii, PC, Xbox... Pirates!, Pirates Gold..... so many hours playing them all
I played on original Xbox, it’s a Pirate simulator!! I remember getting really old and saving it, before I went into port to divvy up the loot. It forced me to retire. I reloaded my save and played it for like 10 more years. I was swinging the rapier like it was the big heavy sword. Great game
Still playing the 2004 version after 10+ years, so damn fun
I still have a floppy disc version somewhere, such a great game
Idk- it just never seems to develop for me. Like I get that there’s a story, but it’s so hard to get to it.
Several hours worth of destroying stuff with pirate ships tho
You never see Worms on these and man they are just simple fun and great at a party tossing back a few with friends.
After getting back into console gaming off of a two decades hiatus, the one I'd say had made it infinitely worth while is Journey. That's legit one of my favourite peices of media of any sort ever.
I will never, ever buy a Lit mobile solar wireless battery pack.
Lol, I see that commercial all time now.
But you could use it to look at you Dr Squach balls soap in the dark!! 😋
auntie panda - Sad, dry balls.
Right? I hate how they portray their ads as independent reviews. "Hey guys, Lit mobile just sent me this. Let's check it out!" Deceptive marketing.
BTW I didn't get a Lit mobile ad on this video. I got a Jews for Jesus ad, which is really surprising (I don't view any religious videos). I guess because it's a MetalJesus video?
It’s LEGIT a good product
Soooo🤷♂️
I was really hoping to see Portal 2 on this list.
EXACTLY my thoughts buy I understand why he put tetris because its iconic.
Thank. You. For me it's the obvious pick for game everyone should play
Yeah that was a real let down not seeing Portal on this list.
I was thinking the same thing, I beat the single player and had my friend help me play the Co-op. I don’t think I have ever had more fun playing a game than playing the co-op
I immediately went to the comment section after the end of the video to look for this comment! Portal 2 is such an amazing game, I was just blown away by it. Everything in this game is amazing: the puzzles, the ambiance, the story, the level design... Like some other people I understand why it isn't on the list but it deserved at least an honorable mention :)
This channel rocks. I’ve only dabbled over the years so I’m going through everything through the next year of my life. Thanks for all the content always keep going!!!

I don’t think I agreed with any choice in this video, but I totally understood each choice. So happy to see someone who knows their stuff
Civilization series is mad re-playable, in that each save can be a very different scenario. I played the heck out of Civ4 over years, and of course love 5 and 6 too.
I played all of them including Alpha Centauri and Colonization, but if I had to give a fast answer to "Choose one game", it would be Civilization 1.

Mass effect 2, great call. Never played a game where all those decisions came home to roost like this game. Suicide mission is my favourite hour of gaming full stop.
I couldn't agree more. The suicide mission is just incredible. And this is coming from someone who grew up in the age of NES, SNES, etc. and didn't really play any new games after 2008 or so. However, Mass Effect made me take notice and wake up, as well as the original Dragon Age.
The whole game was a build up to thst suicde mission yeah as a set piece. ME1 better in my opinion though. Far better in fact
My ps3 broke as I started that mission, lost my save and never went back to the game. Please take your comment back.
Just watched your new home tour and I'm glad to see you guys are still going strong on CZcams! Very happy for you guys
Great list. Will have to try some I haven't yet. Glad to find your channel
Burnout 3 was so so good. One of the first game I emulated on my Steam Deck. Playing it on the TV brought back some memories. The soundtrack rules in that game too
Burnout Revenge and Split/Second are my very favorite racing games, as they both have unique mechanics that make them super exciting!
I’m almost through Split/Second myself. Such an underrated game
I prefer burnout 2 over 3 personally
Split second is great! If you like that ya gotta check out Blur if you haven't already. most underrated game ever
I love the last of us, man that ending and beginning got me to cry.
Such great choices here. Although I also lost a lot of time to Civilization, the early games in the Heroes of Might and Magic series were my main "just one more turn" games. One time in college I started playing while eating a quick breakfast and suddenly my then-gf walked in to get ready for bed. Completely missed all my classes, hadn't eaten since breakfast, hadn't even gone to the bathroom...
FPS games I have a soft spot for Halo (the 360 remaster), because that was the first one I played with my son.
There are a few genre-bending titles that deserve a place here as well. Minecraft is the obvious one. I love Rimworld as well but it might be too complicate for "everyone." One lesser-known game that I think everyone should play is Mindustry. Based on your taste in games being so similar to mine, I think you'd love it. I stumbled upon it a few years ago on F-Droid, but the latest versions are getting better and better. Currently playing on mobile, but there is a PC/Mac/Linux release on Itch (pay-what-you-want) and Steam as well.
The drifting in hotshot racing is exactly what I've been looking for in an arcade racer! TY MJ for mentioning this!
Simgames: Rollercoaster Tycoon. Still one of my favorite games!
Roller coaster tycoon might be my favourite series of all time. Plus it's spiritual successor Planet Coaster is amazing as well
I played that game so much when I was younger
Transport Tycoon is a MUST HAVE in the simgames genre! And you can have it for free with Open TTD.
@@stealthiscool Those games are a lot of fun, but for me it would be Theme Hospital and it's spiritual successor Two Point Hospital.
I'm more of a StarCraft guy if we're talking about 90's PC games
DeusEx
System Shock 2
Silent Hill 2
Alien: Isolation
Dishonored
Jak & Dexter
GTA: Vice City
Dragon Age: Origins
I don't think a lot of people understand how perfect silent Hill 2 is. Great list, man
I noticed how many of these games are more or less the kind that lets you explore the environment, go nuts, play around with the game’s mechanics and figure out creative ways to proceed. You definitely have a favourite genre, I’m guessing you also enjoyed the PREY reboot and Vampire the masquerade bloodlines if you ever played either.
@@domenicodipippo1957 I've beaten both multipe times :D And you're right, didn't even mentioned them all. But I love when game is or has immersive sim elements in it. Nothing can top the atmosphere for me in those games. I hope C2077 will scratch that itch or that someone with enough resources and talent will take over System Shock 3.
Jak & Dexter.. Now that would make for an interesting game!
An unusual list! Dont see these games cited as much. Can tell you really play games and don't just go with popular opinion. Great list
It's always interesting to see these lists as everybody has such different favourites. I've only played 3 games on this whole list myself, Mario 3, Tetris, and Half-life 2, and I would not have picked any of those either.
I have to say, I completely agree with every single one of your suggestions! Nice list!
Great choices, MJ! I would actually love to see this series revisited from time to time! Like, “Ten More Must-Play Games” or whatever.
Anyway, great video and I’ll have to check a few of these out that I never got around to!
I've heard the cuisanart port is decent, but I have Doom II on my Kitchen-Aid.
My electric razor has an excellent port of DOOM II! (True story)
(not really )
Hey Riggs
Love your comments John Riggs
And I, on my T.I 84 plus calculator, I consider a counsel lol
You gotta try it on KitchenAid64, though.
great job compiling this list and your ability to explain the games and your personal reasons for choosing one over another is so helpful, do you have a special simulator game? do flight simulators earn their own category? a sub genre that will always have a special place in might heart is THE 6-axis shooter "Descent II", nothing compares and I have every clone ever released, I can still flight the first 10 levels with my eyes closed, got this game and always had one 3dfx card for this game and diablo2 (nowadays a glide emulator), thank your for your hard work and never forget to have fun
I think Hallow Knight would be my top recommend for a 2D platformer the game is just so beautiful and plays very well with some tight controls and tons of customization to playstyle.
I feel sooooo dense. I played that game had fun and somehow got stuck. Watched videos and went step by step and the place just wasn't there. It had to be me but it was frustrating enough to quit.
@@adamburdt8794 Same . Got stuck and never played it again. There's just too many games now a days.
Or celeste or shovel knight.
Also i think the controls of super mario world were waaay more precise, thats why smb3 isnt my favorite...
@@adamburdt8794 no I get you the game can be frustrating at times and some of those secrets are really well hidden. I tend to take a break and come back to it when stuff like that happened. I'd usually figure it out once the frustration wore off. That's part of why I like it so much though is overcoming obstacles like that.
It's more of a metroidvania than it is a straight up 2D platformer though
There are so many great games. I remember when I first fell in love with gaming on the Sega console. Now I am retired and gaming has become my favorite thing again? My wife say I spend way to much time gaming! It's nice to be able to afford the best gear. I can't wait to show the world of gaming to my grandchildren when they get a little older!!
These videos randomly showed up in my feed and now I'm hooked I've been watching videos from 4 years ago even
Subscribed and keep it up!
Really great list! If i could ad 2 more genres it would be „Metroidvania“ with Ori and the Blind Forest and „Railshooters“ with Rez (classic and VR)
For sports games I’d say the NCAA football series (probably 13 or 14), the depth in dynasty mode with elements of randomness, personal customization both in play style and difficulty , as well as attachments to schools and players makes it one of the least redundant and overall most fun sports games of all time.
19:05 “melted hours away”.. that’s a sign of a good game...
thats minecraft for me.
Age of Empires is also a really good Strategy game.
i still play that to this day since it came out 20 years ago lol. I was in high school when the original released.
Age of Empires II made me not sleep during the week so I could play when everyone was sleeping
My favorite! I still play it all the time.
original AoE 2 and Starcraft both right at the top of strategy list
Aoe2 is bigger then ever.
But for my money, pvp aside, age of mythology is the most fun to play by yourself.
I've been much more picky when it comes to video games over the last ten years or so. Indie games seem to be better in a lot of ways, and I think it's because independent studios are more willing to take risks and try something new.
I don't think I could ever make a list of games that everyone should play, partly because I'd first have to know what types of games a person likes. Just because I love certain games doesn't mean that most people would like them. I'd probably just recommend a few games that are really good and free.
You really picked some bangers for this list. Half-Life 2 was my jam with Disturbed playing in the background. Good memories.
Burnout 3 has aged well, looks decent,Controls great, rocking soundtrack and still one of the best arcade racing games ever.
But isn't as good as 2... (in my humble opinion!)
@@dcashley303 2 is great but that takedown feature is what made me love 3 and revenge more .
@@speedwaynutt I honestly got bored and ultimately annoyed by the takedowns, got in the way of the arcade style racing. Also the graphical style from 3 onwards was just less arcade vibrant and more COD gritty which didn't sit with me well.
I actually lean more toward Burnout Revenge, 360 version. The enhanced visuals help a lot, the traffic checking - while many don't like this - allows for more traffic on the tracks to increase the excitement, and I feel the sense of speed and intensity is a bit higher.
Best game soundtrack ever.
dude, great video! was gonna skip through, but ended up watching it all! very entertaining
Awesome video! Best FPS for me: Far Cry (1), best platformer: Another World. I do miss a best-VR-game, though.
A subscription for you my guy. Great idea for a list to do it by genre.
My honorable mentions (all genres and all consoles):
Final Fantasy 12, GTA San Andreas, The Last Of Us, Warcraft 3, Unreal Tournament, Crash Team Racing, Super Mario 64, Nier Automata, Gran Turismo 4, Goldeneye 64, Pokemon Platinum, Crash Bash, Overwatch, Need For Speed Prostreet, Digimon Rumble Arena, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Shadow of Colossus, Tekken 6, Battlefield 1, Guitar Hero 3
Dirt (1&2), F1 championchip, and bfme (1&2)
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins on PS1. Amazing stealth gameplay and the best, most atmospheric music in a video game ever.
Omg fucking yes, it also had a map editor where you could create your own missions that alone was game changing !
100%
This game is a legend
Still waiting for a new Tenchu.....
@@BigBossHayabusa I understand Ghost of Tsushima was originally a Tenshu reboot.
You are really old school with Mario 3, HalfLife 2, Burnout 3, SSX 3. All of the game you mentioned are excelent.
I'm a newer fan of the channel. Thanks for putting together this list. Although, I have my own ideas of what constitutes a top 10 list, it's well thought out and the comments you provide are spot on. Keep it up. I'm enjoying the content. Oh, I 100% agree with the Ms. Pac-man arcade introduction.
Honestly I would recommend the portal games, their absolutely incredible puzzle adventures
I almost included Portal in the honorable mentions but the video was getting long. Great answer!
The cake is a lie
Take away the Valve brainwashing and you wouldn't say that.
ME2 was a huge part of my teen years! Such an amazing game. Stellar cast, great gameplay, good graphics, story is spectacular!
I watched this whole video saying “oh, that makes sense to me” to myself at all of your picks. My only gripe: I wish you would’ve given a rec for survival/horror because that’s the genre I know nothing about but want to try and play.
Resident Evil Remake on GameCube/PS4/PC for the best classic survival horror, Silent Hill 2+3 for the best psychological horror (PS2, not HD collection), Resident Evil 2 Remake for a modern take on the genre. Lights off, headphones on.
@@failurestates thanks for the recs! I’ve always beens literally scared to try any horror games but I’m gonna suck it up and try these!
Silent Hill 2.
Wow this is a great video reminding me of games I've long forgotten about. I lost so much sleep because of Civ 2.
I totally share the same feeling / frustration over EA constantly re-releasing Burnout Paradise for every console and in HD at every chance they have, while it was Burnout 3 Takedown / Revenge that was the most defining game of that series, which is sorely missing an updated HD version for modern PC / Consoles.
What happened when you finally showed up to your job hours late?
This is a well made list. Great choices.
Mass Effect was a trilogy that I enjoyed so much... even with the books telling the history previous to the first game and even the other books. I'd love to Bioware bring to us some secuels in which Shepard and friends has some NPC relevance...
