I'm glad your keeping up the long trapping tradition.
Oh yeah Billy, ill be trapping as long as the good lord lets me🙏. Thanks for watching
So peaceful riding the trail at night looking at tracks.
Yeah. In the dark it’s really easy to focus on the trail and tracks. Thanks for watching. God Bless
Awesome!!!
Thanks. I just filmed the next episode and got some great video of a wolverine. 👍
Awesome shout out to the boy😉
Just subscribed 😎💪🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for the Sub! Glad you enjoyed the video. Still editing a few more. Have a good one
Great video thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I’m glad the internet is good enough up here in the village to get these videos up on CZcams. It took about 2 hours to upload but worth it!
Great to see i am not the only one to thank the lord when I make a catch
Amen! Thank him for the little things and the big things. Faith and hard work. God Bless you brother
love your video nice wolfs
Thanks, yeah great trap check, the next one is arguably better. Have a good one
Excellent. Live in California and miss those great times.
Thanks. Sorry the politics had to go screw things up like they did. I hope you can get a bit of an escape through my videos. God bless
Great catches, cool video! Thank you.
Thanks for watching! Yeah great catches in this video. Another trap check today can’t wait to show everybody todays run. Have a good one👍
Great video. Very nice country. Excellent job on those wolves. I gotta get me one of those lights. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! We sure love the freedom up here. Yeah some years it’s hit or miss on wolves I’m glad this year is a hit. Thanks for watching👍
REGINALD WINSOR Where is the location please?
Those double long springs sure do bed better!
Yeah I sure like them but I’ve only been able to find coil spring traps on eBay for a while now. I caught a wolverine in a coil spring today on my trap check. It was awesome and I got it on video. I’ll put up a short soon of it
less wolfs means more moose and deer. keep it up
Yep it definitely helps put less pressure on the moose population. We don’t have deer but we do have caribou as well. Now I need to put a dent into the bear population. This spring I’ll make sure to film some bear hunting. And I think I’ll try my hand at legal bearbaiting and trapping if I can. Thanks for watching
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 I have always wanted to see bear trapping. Ever since I was a kid . Keep up the good work. Love your videos.
@@andrewsalacina9705 we’ll see how we can legally trap a bear this spring. Snare or deadfall. We’ll make it work
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 hell yeah brother!
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 This looks so inhumane and violent, can't you just put out poisoned bait like they do with coyotes? They use some cyanide I think.
Great job on those wolves. The are exciting to catch. Thanks for sharing
Yeah definitely one of the coolest animals to catch. How long does your trapping season run?
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 i usually do marten until mid February and dogs first week of march. But so warm the last rew weeks i pulled my line already.
@@westendtrapper8536 that’s to bad that it warmed up so much. It has been a really mellow winter here. Very odd, I haven’t been messing around on the river too much because I figure high temps and deep snow = thin ice
Good job with the wolves.
Thanks! I caught another today. Have a good one
That’s a good day
Oh yeah every day out in the woods is a good day! Thanks for watching.
Naizon. Good content Bro.
Thanks I’m glad the videos are being liked. Have a good one
great channel!
Thanks for watching! Filming the next one today
I really like your camera work , keep it up
Thanks! Will do!
I just checked my line and a wolf went down my line raiding two lynx cubbies and then stopped short on 3 snares. Glad to see you connected
Ah man that sucks getting so close I did that last season. Set so many snares and only caught one. But this year has been great. I got back from
out on my line after 11pm and caught another wolf and two wolverines. I’m pulling the footage from my GoPro right now. Thanks for watching I hope you find a wolf in your snares soon👍
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 that’s awesome, look forward to that. Love your commentary, which I may have said before. I’m learning a ton. I like the idea of setting bait where you caught the wolf and moving the snare to another spot. I’m now dealing with an educated wolf so I may have to get creative 😁
Well done
Thanks for watching! Still got a while to go this season
Great video
Thanks! Great day on the line
It’s awesome to see younger guys out trapping! It’s a lost art!
Thanks! I’m 35 now and plan to be trapping as long as I can walk. Another reason I like putting this up on CZcams so others can be inspired to trap as well. Have a good one
Wicked EG 👊 great catches
Thanks! I filmed the check I went on today and it turned out great. Finally hit with a wolverine
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 Fk ya👊
This dude is the real deal. I could listen to guys like this talk forever. I love seeing how passionate he is but also a wealth of information. Even though I don’t trap locations that are similar you can still learn little things to possibly help you on your line.
Thank you sir! Glad you enjoyed. Trapping anywhere I’d imagine would be fun. Different process but still fun. Thanks for watching👍
Great video and channel. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Thanks for watching and welcome! I just finished filming the next Trapline check, it was even better! Have a good one
Awesome video! Congratulations on that beautiful female! All quiet today on my line, wolves have not been through now for six days. Did see ten elk, and they will be back to chase them. Wet and nasty on todays check. Good luck out there and be safe.
Wow ten elk! Do they travel together? What kind of temps do you have this time of year?
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 Our elk herds up north here are 6-12 animals usually. Not like the bigger herds down south. Been mild lately 20-38 degrees F. Have enjoyed your channel.
Good video

First double I’ve seen in a while. Nice work!
Thanks! A day like this always helps with motivation

Thanks bro. Took me a bit longer to get this video up than I had hoped but turned out good, and another Trapline check today so we’ll we what we got out there. God bless y’all as well!
You can use double long spring trap. Here in Manitoba Canada the jaws can't be touching
Ah I guess you can always go to work with a grinder and make some offset jaws. I caught a wolverine by the back foot with a coil spring #5 yesterday. It was great
..Hey man.. I getting to that age were it is becomeing more difficult to get around in the bush especially in winter. So... Getting to ride along with you on the snow mobile and picking up some fur is awesome . I know fur prices aren't much but keep trapping anyway.. Thanks.. God bless.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the ride! My trapping season will be done after the first week of April. So I’ll have at least 7-10 trap checks left to film and put up. Thanks for the encouragement and god bless you and yours as well.
Good stuff my friend! Always love good wolf catches. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing your line with all of us.
Thanks. Yeah awesome double wolf. Have a good one
Recently found your channel and subscribed. Love your video's, brings back memories of my 50 mile long trapline in the White Mountains about 80-90 miles south of you. Worked it for 10 years in the 1980's. I miss those days and my old Ski-Doo Tundra.
Welcome aboard. Glad your enjoying the videos. WOW white mountains! I’ve only ever flew over that area. Must have been a lot of work. I had a tundra 2 for years the reverse was a godsend. I checked my Trapline yesterday and caught 2 wolverine and 1 wolf. I hope to have the next episode done by the end of the week. Thanks for watching and have a good one

I want to live off the land in Alaska and Montana
Two great states especially because of the low population density. Thanks for watching
God bless you there sir a good hunter/trapper
Thanks! God bless you and your family as well. Thanks for watching, I am editing more trapping videos. Take care
Enjoyed the video! Thank you for taking us along.
Oh yeah my pleasure sir! Glad you enjoyed a Trapline check👍
You may be onto something with the longsprings vs coilsprings.. Maybe there is a smell that stays with the coils from manufacturing. Alas soon as you said that a light bulb went off! They do smell different! Just handle one of each... I actually just did that today!!
I boil my traps at least once or twice a season. But I’ve never actually tried to smell one. I guess I’m tryin it tomorrow. Thanks for pointing it out 👍and thanks for watching
Don't know about a different smell, but longsprings come up in ice and snow better for sure
Just found your channel. Really enjoyed the video!
Thank you sir, and welcome aboard. Finished filming the next video yesterday. Made a few more catches
Congrats hard work pays off
Nice dogs man. I need to hang some more snares, I have a bunch that are dipped and clean ready to go. I've just always been more into traps than snares lol
Thank you sir. If I could only choose one a snare or a trap I would prolly go with a trap only because with a trap I can build a set anywhere from thick woods to an open lake. But snares are so effective and inexpensive. A lot less fur damage with a snare as well. Best way to learn how animals in your area react around snares is to find a choke point where they pass and hang a bunch. Or find their trails and set on them. If you can get some video of hanging your snares that would be awesome!
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 I put up a short I took while I was hanging snares a few days ago, but I don't end up getting much footage while I make wolf sets, because I don't want to set my phone down near the set and have all my scent control go out the window lol
@@Northwoods208 i just got back from checking traps. I watched your short. Yeah it’s hard to get good footage especially of hanging snares. Looks good though👍
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 thanks man, I'm gonna have a look in the morning, and probably try to find some spots for another half dozen traps and a dozen or two more snares
@@Northwoods208 cool cool. Can’t wait to see!
It's great watching trappers who just show what they are doing and that know their stuff and don't try to explain everything. Keep up the good video's as I'm enjoying watching you on your traplne ..... its very similar to mine.
Thanks! sometimes I’m a bit worried if I talk to much or show to much of the building part so I edit out a lot of the building of different sets so the video flows better and reaches a broader audience then if my videos were an hour long. At some point I’ll put out longer less cut up videos. Thanks for watching, if your line is similar to mine then we are both blessed I love being outdoors. Have a good one👍
I'm laid up right now, so all my trapping is second hand, lol.
Thanks for sharing!
Oh man I know how that feels, hope you feel better soon. Until then I’ll be dropping videos at least once a week, when it gets busier maybe more. Have a good one
Every moose and caribou in your country thanks you 🤙I find it interesting..not that you leave bait around, but where and how you determine it to be beneficial.
Oh yeah. We started hitting bears big time this last summer. I was on bear hunts where we took 2 black bears and 3 grizzlies last summer
@@enigmaticgwichin1630wow that’s some shit! Bears are assholes no matter where you go

Thank you! Awesome to pick up 2 more. Another check today so we’ll see what we have this time. Thanks for watching
You have awesome trapping videos I’d love to learn as well 😮
Awesome catches there buddy. Later and all the best.
Thank you sir. Hope your summer was a nice one👍
Is there a “trapper vacation package,” like 4 days, a snowmobile, suit & helmet, meals, adventure?
Nice double on wolves!
I like how you drop meat here and there as you go down the line. I drug a beaver around a couple times this season but I think your idea will be more productive. Get them conditioned to snacks instead of just following a scent trail.
Thanks! Yeah it works well on younger or really hungry wolves and wolverines. I drag caribou skin or moose but not around the entire line but between certain sets. Doesn’t work all the time but can help
Wow! a double on the wolves! Great job. When you toss some bait chunks onto some tracks off of the trail you are riding on...is that to encourage them to keep using that trail and putting a set there later on?
I started just to bait the line itself a few years ago. If an animal really likes the location and keeps coming back then I’ll put a set out there. And just to get the animals thinking with their bellies and not their heads. Thanks for watching, I have another Trapline check in a few hours it’s going to be fun no matter what
Great video and content. How much bait do you use at your wolf sets ? Looking forward to the next one.
Usually no more than what I drop randomly on the trail. If they suspect something most wolves here will just stay clear of an overbaited set. So size wise I would say smaller than the size of your fist to start off. It’s good to change up your sets all the time. When I started going after wolves I did what the older trappers taught me first then I tried to improve and switch it up. So when I tell someone that wants to get into wolf trapping is to take advice and sets from some old timers and start with that. Sorry I’m a bit long winded, thanks for watching
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 Thank you very much , were in Montana and caught my first Wolf 3 weeks ago . Just waiting on them to come back thru.
@@mikequesenberry5344 that’s awesome! Make sure to tan and keep your first everything. That’s something I regret not doing. I hope I’m helping y’all with these videos

Thanks! I caught another today it will be on the next episode. And a live wolverine
hi like ur videos. u don't go out with ur wife n kids .keep ur videos going it awsome 👍👍love watching videos like that
Nice work 👏
Thanks. A lot of hard work paying off.
If you want 2 save your self bunch work speed things up. Get you some coniclips for ur 330s. Can screw um 2 a tree or nail um. Just like a marten set. Hang um 4ft off snow put a rabbit above little boughs great lynk set. Or wolverine. Critters cant go in back steal bait keeps um off ground so mice don't chew on fur
Thank you sir I’ll give them a try. That will be a set I give a whirl for sure. Thanks👍
If you cant find any conibear clips a 2x4. Is all you need 2 squeeze jaws on just dont slide traps on 2 far as block 2 much area 4 um 2 stick there head in. Best is 2 screw 2x4. 2 a little piece plywood so fits in2 jaws of 330
@@kencaudle7802 awesome I appreciate the help. Gotta always be learning in this life, I sure as heck don’t know it all. Thanks
U want to bend the jaw with chain up a bit and secure chain up high. Helps stabilize trap and keeps animal in trap off ground. U can put 6 tree sets in in time it takes 2 make 1 cubby. And you don't loose bait except 2 ermine or marten
Watch trapun the wild north videos. He claims the McKinsey river outfit pays top dollar for fur. Maybe he can hook you up

I just gotta say, that was fun. Watching you go through the bush and seeing all the different tracks on the trail was great. How did you attach the long springs to the leaning pole set for martins? Can't wait for the next video.
Thanks for watching. Being in the outdoors is always great. I used 16 gauge tie wire to connect the trap to the pole, they don’t usually chew on the trap or wire. I check my Trapline tomorrow and I’ll be filming it as well. Have a good one👍
Its great going on the trails with you and the Skidoo but how on earth do you remember where you have set your traps in that huge wilderness ?

Thanks for writing. I’m glad you enjoyed! Have a good one
Congratulations on the wolfs!! Why do you check at night?? That’s dark cold and scary!! Don’t break down!!! You guys are the real deal up in Alaska!!!
Thanks! I don’t try to check at night but the amount of time it takes to set and check traps it’s almost always dark by the time I make it back. I try to show how life really is and not sugar coat the dangers but when you grow up here you’ve learned to navigate the dangers. Thanks for watching. I hope to have the next video up in a day or two👍
Just a heads up, if it's more than 1 they are called wolves. 😁
I don’t even know how you can record the camera or GoPro in the cold. Mine keeps crashing and ends up not working lol I’m trapping martens rn and I’m going to move up to wolves soon. Nice video.
My wife sewed me a pouch that I tie inside of my carhartt bibs where I put my GoPro most of the day. I take it out to record short clips. While driving the cold can just kill the battery so I have to wait between filming for the GoPro to warm up under my layers of gear. Good luck on your wolf trapping. Have a good one
Just subbed your channel. Gotta get an extra battery and keep the GoPro warm that’ll help
Thanks brother. Great idea, I gotta ask my grandma to sew me up a moose hide pouch for my phone and GoPro.
@@devooski4751 I have the small stick tripod that folds up to a stick to hold when recording and I can have that sticking out of my jacket and sweater so I can pull it out quick
Nice video mate, how did you learn about trapping?
Thanks👍. It was passed down to me from my father and his father going back as long as my people have been here in Alaska. I also learned a lot from my uncles, cousins, and other outside trappers.
If life goes as planned I’ll keep learning from others until I get pretty good at trapping.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the other videos as well
Ever run into a "winter bear"? Very dangerous I'm told.
I’ve seen Grizzly tracks in the snow up to December a few years ago. But most of the time they den up by November. There used to be something called an ICE BEAR the last one I’ve heard of was killed back in the 60s-70s. Ice bears were something straight out of the game of thrones. A starving bear covered in armor like chunks of ice. Before guns made it up here they were killing machines. It would take a whole group of men to pin it down tie it up, build a fire to melt enough to stab it with a spear in the vitals
Less music please. Commentary or skidoo sounds would be better. My personal opinion. Other than that, great videos, informative with good editing and sound.
Thanks for the feedback👍. Videos with little to no music get abysmal views and don’t reach new people to draw them into the love for the outdoors and trapping. From time to time I’ll drop a video with less music to test the waters. Thanks for writing and god bless
What do you do with the wolf meat
It gets used for trapping bait and it all gets eaten by birds, fox, lynx, wolves, squirrels, and wolverines. Thanks for asking
What is your headlamp again?
It’s the (Fenix HP30R V2.0) it’s a great head lamp that boasts 3000 lumens and my favorite part is it has an extension line for the separate battery pack. So I can wear the battery pack next to my body under all my layers. It extends the battery life big time keeping it out of the -40 degrees.
Thanks for watching👍

Isn't the wolf simply trying to survive why murder it can't u afford a burger
Do some research before posting like you know things. Obviously you don't know anything about the Alaska natives.
My Neets’aii Gwich’in Athabaskan way of life has been sustainable to a point for ten thousand plus years. I am not “murdering” anything. Predator control has been a vital part of our food chain here for multiple millenniums before any governments set foot here and said what we could and couldn’t do. With more wolves there are less moose that make it to maturity. Which directly effects the amount of moose we have to subsist on. A small ham here can cost as much as a 100$. Every wolf I trap saves hundreds if not thousands of moose-caribou-rabbits-grouse-ducks that wolf would have killed and eaten in their lifetime. Which means less food for my family my village and my community. Who are according to the government considered to be in POVERTY. So how many animals have you saved in your lifetime? I don’t think there would be a metric out there you could use to show the impact someone like me has had on saving wildlife. Trapping and using these pelts is also saving a dying culture of using a sustainable product(animal skins) without having
To use oil and oil byproducts like plastics, nylon, polyester that make up a majority of what surrounds you all the time. Have a nice day
Please don't hunt or kill the wolves Please
