- Dharavi, Mumbai - Dharavi is a densely populated neighbourhood located in Mumbai, India. It is often referred to as one of the largest slums in Asia and possibly the world. Dharavi is situated on a prime location in central Mumbai and covers an area of approximately 2.5 square kilometres. Despite it’s relatively small size, it has a significant population estimated to be around 1 million people.

These India vlogs are great! I've been to Varanasi 3 times (first time ghats half flooded, 2nd time completely flooded and 3rd time, last January, completely open lol) but haven't been to Mumbai since 1997 but will be back this October then on to Gokarna. Can't wait! I'd advise anybody who hasn't been to go to India.
It's my first time here, but I love it. I'm sure to return again, and again and again.
To visit and see this kind of poor environment. , aside from honk n chaotic, filth n dirt everywhere. Weird tradition.. this should not be recommended places to visit Sir. Just saying .thank you.

Watching this humbles me right quick . I appreciate my living space . Thanks to my parents for having the courage to leave India. This is no life .
It doesn't really matter because people do their best to live in any situation. We can just hope they have better life in the future. It doesn't matter because anywhere in the world people will have to see bad days. You are probably not lucky because your parents left India you are lucky because whichever country you are in you don't have a bad situation. I don't know what I'm saying so just ignore it I guess. And also if people don't have money then they can't go to other country.
This is a slum in India. The rest of India is not really like this. This is like forming an opinion of the US by visiting the hoods of Harlem, assuming you don't get mugged or shot and return in one piece. That's one thing good about India - you will not get shot even when roaming around in terrible places like that slum. A country of 1.4 billion with no mass school shootings.
Very heartbreaking to see the children growing up in these terrible conditions.
This is all they know, and it's not just India... many countries all over the world lives in these conditions.
Christ your a brave man, in a strange country, walking with a stranger in dark alleyways. Power to you 🙏🏽

this is so fascinating , what impresses me the most is how they perfectly navigate around in this mad labyrinth, having memorized this whole insane system of alleys and paths. and the efford just to organize and maintain the basic needs of everyday life.

Their electric wiring is an absolute desaster I don't know how they know which wire goes to I think they just put a new one up never taking the other down it's crazy, I seen a documentary one time that showed it 😅 it's pretty tangled
I believe most of toilets there are not a toilet at all more like a hole in the floor, I'd have a very hard time getting use to having to use, As old as I am I don't know that I even could I can't get to the floor or get up off the floor without something to help me. 😅
I believe their Bikes are mostly Royal Enfield I know it's that one that is flavored.

I am from Tamil Nadu, here we treat the Mumbaikars like Americans, Europeans. They live in best of apartments, localities here.
But unfortunately, this is how Mumbaikars treat most of South Indians especially Tamils. Not even allowed to have their own attached washroom.
Tell us a place our case will be heard, can we raise it at Hague?

@@captainnemo8072 Local peoples living here for centuries were uprooted from heartland of Chennai sent far away to places like kannaginagar. The vacated places are now owned by Mumbaikars. Now tell me who has to pay for whom?

most of the people who live in the slums of the big cities in India are the migrants from small villages. they all have their houses In the villages. they live in the slums because of the low rent. if they start earning lot more in the cities then they move to bigger homes.

Once I remember a rickshaw driver's daughter lived there, achieved top position in CA (chartered accountant ,a competitive exam). .even the son got through same time in first attempt.
Highly educated people are there.
Education is very important
The pure joy and happiness that those kids express while stopping a strange looking foreign man and dancing with him in the middle of the streets, is why i keep coming back to Chris content, and im only 11 minutes in. Keep it up Chris, always enjoy your raw experiences, have a great trip, Peace!
