    I once installed a teflon embedded clutch cable that had been custom made to my order.
    It did improve the smoothness of operation, but it wasn't *fabulous* until I routed the cable
    with as few curves as possible and those curves being as wide as possible. The widening
    of the curves accounted for at least 60% of the resulting *dramatic improvement* .

    Swapped out my OEM with a Featherlight following your video just now and have discovered the same rubbing issue on the old cable. Realised it's caused by the raised weld seam behind the oil cooler and below the 2 silver allen screws. Mine has rubbed the paint off the frame. 🙃

    Anything with the Venhill name on it is absolutely top notch, so no surprise that You're happy with that cable WM . Venhill braided brake lines are the very best I've ever fitted, and their VT32 tyre pressure gauge is a cracking bit of kit too!

    Ha! ~ Nice one chap!! I too noticed an occasional 'clunkyness' in my clutch cable operation. I just thought it was an intermittent glitch on my bike. Even a thorough lubing didn't sort it, so was left head scratching. Ergo your video came as inspiration, I've ordered one of these Venhill F/L cables, so thank you for pointing that out. (bit pricey tho' but if it's a true fix, worth it....) 👍

      Hard to say exactly, but it wasn't in great condition.

    • @traditional85
      @traditional85 Před 2 lety

      The damage from the cable is from it rubbing on the not-very-smooth underside/lip of the gas tank. Mine did this exactly in only 1000 miles. I had to wrap it with electrical tape as a bandaid fix until I got the new cable in. It's not routed the best from the factory.

    • @WildlifeMoto

    @stevesanelli90 Před 3 lety

    I wonder if your rains, road salts & then warmer weather has perished the rubber boots & perhaps, just perhaps, how many riders don’t really lubricate the actual cable in sheathing? Not saying you haven’t. But, it’s sight unseen. 🤔 The burn or rubbing mark is an interesting note. Do you know where it occurred? What caused it? Ride safe & stay safe!🙏

    • @WildlifeMoto
      @WildlifeMoto  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Steve. I had lubricated the factory cables (I even own one of those tools to force grease down the line). I have to admit to being surprised to find the split in the cable, I have no idea when it happened, but it's always been fully clipped into the frame and clear of the headers. Weird! It might have touched a hot header during some maintenance if it is a burn, really not sure.

    I get the same thing with my clutch cable jerky, it feels like the cable is breaking down but it doesn’t do it all the time, it usually happens when I have been riding the bike for a while. Also if the engine isn’t running and you continuously pull on the clutch lever for a few minutes it doesn’t do it then which made me wonder if there is a problem with the clutch itself.
