    Hey. Will using a 4x4 mimo antenna increase speeds with the Verizon ARC gateway? Or will it still be limited with a certain "speed cap"? The gateway I have is currently using LTE, not 5g. Thanks

    That's quite worrying that the firmware update wiped that setting.
    I take config backups after making significant changes, as well as pre and post manual firmware upgrades; but if your firmware upgrade dropped settings, I'm guessing a restore of settings from backup probably wouldn't work. This would be very problematic if you had configured lots settings and they were simply lost by a firmware upgrade.
    I wonder if it was just this specific pass through setting that was reverted (meaning it's an oversight and they'll hopefully fix it) or if it was reverted to full factory defaults (more worrying, but I wouldn't be surprised given the limited isp competition you have in the US).

      Since the only setting i had was the IP passthrough I'm not sure whether it went completely back to factory or not. Thanks.

    I too have been using the 5g Verizon cube for 2 years with a similar experience with speeds and the firmware reset of the IP passthrough. I have to say, for the money, it is a very good deal.

    Have you played with Dual WAN routers or switches? The idea is to use (or have available) both 5G airway and wired/optic connections to the internet. If one WAN internet connection goes down, the other one automatically kicks in. Otherwise, you would have to manually plug in the 5g modem or internet “wired” modem to the one WAN port on the router. It seems like a must have for “live” streamers.

      @@Behfor Excellent video!!! 5 yrs old too. Where have I been? Might have been part of your pay per view member collection. YT algorithm never pushed it to me.
      I sometimes see poor video when streamers are at remote locations. It would be nice if they hooked up to a redundant internet source. I’ll ask some other questions on this dual WAN on that other site.

    Hello, I have faced a similar issue. However I am not using Verizon. I am connected via an optical cable through ISP Alcatel Lucent router, and it has a dynamic IP. It has port passthrough, but the problem is that my home appliances are connected to a WiFi router Asus RT-AX58U and I should be able to access it from the outside internet via DDNS, but it is not working. Do you know what might be the issue? :/

    • @Behfor
      @Behfor  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Does your wireless router, when you log into it, show a public IP address for the Internet? Or a private IP address? If you have setup DDNS on the Asus router, it needs to have a public IP address.

      I would maybe look into the Asus WRT - Merlin _ net firmware since your model works their firmware, AX version. They get it directly from Asus and does not void your warranty. Has some extra stuff you can do with it and sometimes the extras that are written is put upstream into the actual Asus firmware. Just like updating regular firmware, like always I would double check the SHA 256 hashes though, of course for some reason the service they use can take a couple days to sync correctly I've noticed. Just read over their page for awhile and the forums are called SNBforums and look for Asus Merlin and your model and other things to see if it's something you might like.

      @@Behfor THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES. Issue is solved - needed an update of the iOS app "Instant Guard" from ASUS to 1.0.0.1.39 where they resolved the issue of being unable to crate a VPN from cellular network

      @@sbme1147 thank you, this was one of the consideration why I chose it, but since my wife uses it on a regular basis, I can not afford "tinkering" as WiFi is vital to her :D BTW the issue was solved by itself - Asus issued a new "Instant Guard" app version 1.0.0.1.39, that solved this particular issue (VPN not working from Cellular connection)

    I will be interested to hear why you cancelled your service. I am preparing for the day when Spectrum plans to double the price for my cable Internet. While the service has been great and I have been privileged to receive a very reasonable cost of service over the last 9 years, Spectrum has notified me my grandfathered price will stop, come August 2025. Unless better terms are offered, I will switch to fiber Internet, even if I have to spend more money.

    You could do a video on how much better a dedicated 5G home router is as opposed to just using the hotspot on your cell phone.
    Behror, see if this adapter can turn my cell phone into a hardwired WAN port?

    Why do I need the 5G modem?? You opened a can of worms here!

    We have the Verizon internet for a couple of months and it hasn't been great with us and we have the home plus one we don't even the in the 100 at all what do we need todo so it can be a high speed we have to be reset at least once a week and we have it it wireless we also had a replacement box too

    • @Behfor
      @Behfor  Před měsícem

      First, you should determine whether the bottleneck is the Wi-Fi or the 5G connection. The best way to find out is to bypass the Wi-Fi and hardwire a computer to the box and run a speed test. If the speed is good, you know the issue is with the Wi-Fi and can troubleshoot that. If not, then the issue is with the 5G connection. In that case, I would try relocating the box and ensuring it's close to a window.

    • @tonibrockman1442

      @Behfor it don't matter were we put it it get a low speed all time like at night time it very low and then are streaming get bad times the one thing we haven't done is go in the network setting do I need to play there too ..

    • @Behfor
      @Behfor  Před měsícem

      @@tonibrockman1442 It could be maybe because it only connects to the 4G network and not 5G. This happens if the 5G network is not strong in your area. If you call Verizon support, they should be able to check it out. Good luck!
