Living just miles from where Prince lived and recorded, this was simply great! Even better, was Neil’s wife harmonizing along with him.
I was like hold on where are these background vocals coming from and then it panned over and then "oh, very cool"
I always ask people from that area - what's up with the white pyramid cult people? Do you know who I'm talking about? I'm from Minneapolis and don't see the suburbs too often, but a friend showed me that place a few years ago and I've been curious ever since.

Never in a million years would I dreamt of seeing a slightly folksy version of Doves. So much fun.

Nah, I think that award goes to a Dutch band ... I think they call themselves Beef ... I could imagine Neil Finn doing this song, I would never have imagined a Dutch reggae band covering it though. But they do it well too.

For people wondering how Neil Finn could fill in for Lyndsey Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac on tour last year - this is a perfect example why he could do that. Pretty amazing.
Hahahaha...that was a good joke. Yes, Neil is a good Musician ... but Lindsey is better and has the Energy. He was the Glue in FM ... I saw them three times during the last Tour and there were no Magic, no fun, no interaction .. nothing.
Once again, it took two guitarists to replace Lindsey and the band still comes up short. I like Neil but he lacks the vitality of Lindsey.
@@GER-sm3gh I disagree regarding the word vitality. I'd agree he isn't as intense on stage as Lindsey. But I'd take Neil as a songwriter any day. And the fact that other guitarists can't fill Lindsey's place in Fleetwood Mac is far more about the fit than ability. Latter day FM was built around LB's songwriting and production abilities. Of course he is going to fit the sound of the band better. Finn and Campbell both fit Split Enz/Crowded House and The Heartbreakers better than Lindsey ever could.
@@shawnuel well, you could say Split Enz & Crowded House were built around Neil and Tim Finn's songwriting abilities so that makes Lindsey's ability to fit in to those bands a moot point. Lindsey's solo work is actually closer in style to the quirky and eccentric style of Split Enz. But he himself admitted that writing lyrics aren't his strong point, and that he's much more interested in music and production values than making statements. As far as Neil's songwriting abilities go, he got more and more inward looking and inscrutable over the years, sometimes using awkward metaphors that fall flat. And somewhere down the line he lost that knack for a great pop hook for which he was so widely attributed.
@@GER-sm3gh Split Enz was formed 6-7 years before Neil joined. They were definitely Tim's baby. But Neil brought a pop sensibility that finally gave them more chart success. I think Neil still writes beautiful songs. Just with less overt hooks. I absolutely LOVE his 2017, Out of Silence record. A later career triumph, IMO.
Always loved Neil Finn. I met him a couple of times and he was so friendly and cordial. Every time I would see him he would wave or wink at me in the crowd and I have always appreciated that. You rock Neil!

1986 was my senior year in high school and their album Crowded House was released after I graduated, just a few days before I went to Parris Island for boot camp. I had to do without music, along with tv, telephones, and any other contact with the outside world for those 3 months of training. But then when I got back home I was wearing that cassette out! It was one of those special albums where every single song was simply fantastic. What a special time in history to be alive and young. I wouldn't pick any other era to be that age if I could do it all over again.

Listened to 'temple of low men' last night for the first time in a long while...a few seconds of 'I feel possessed' later, I instantly remembered how great that album is.
boomiron I was just thinking about Crowded House’s back catalogue last night, and concluded that “Temple Of Low Men” is my favourite album. I think it’s stayed with me so long because when it came out it was initially such a jarring contrast after their debut album, and I kind of had to let go of my preconceptions of what Crowded House “should” sound like. Anyway, you’ve got great taste! :)
