  • Statistics indicate that the City of Cape Town has a population of about 14 000 homeless or destitute people. And the numbers are growing with the estimation that the numbers could have quadrupled following the Covid-19 pandemic. Bed capacity at shelters for the homeless stands at less than 4 000. Zalene Merrington caught up with some of the destitute, who live on the streets in the surrounding areas of Parliament.
