- In this video, I take on a restoration for Steve & Joe from @TimeTunnelToysUK of a Japanese 1970s Bullmark Tinplate Godzilla.
I absolutely loved this restoration, through its ups and downs which took place over several months. Those Japanese toy designers back in the day certainly knew how to pack in some play into their toys.

Hi, I'm VTR Dave. A Brit on a mission to curate a high-quality and diverse collection of vintage toys, known as the VT aRchive.
A homage to the iconic toys of the 70s & 80s to be shared with as many enthusiasts as possible, right here on this channel. And who knows, perhaps in the future, on display in a public space like a museum. Now, wouldn't that be something!
Subscribe to stay updated as I search for vintage toys, lovingly restore them, delve into their history, and piece by piece, construct the VT aRchive.
As always, thanks goes out to everyone who supports the channel. Every view, like & comment is appreciated.
Stay safe & cheers! - Zábava

Thanks Joe!! 🤘 Your dad was super pleased with the result at Sandown. Hopefully, will see you at a fair soon 👍
Great fixes Dave !! Well done
Thanks Chris!! 👍
Inspired as always Dave!!!! Your excitement when you saw the smoke bellowing out was priceless lol.
The fact these lads trusted you with such a piece just shows how much we all trust and admire what you do for all of us in the community, we need more VTR Daves in the world, bravo sir, bravo 👏
Cheers Luke!! 🤘 I'm enjoying restoration for others more than for my own stuff at the moment! Have several more lined up. Mind you, there are a few things I still want to restore for myself LOL How can I stop work, or replicate myself. Please help 😎
Pretty awesome
Ah thank you, appreciate it!! 🤘
That end result was stunning!
They really knew how to make a decent toy back then! And Steve, the owner is over the moon too!! Definitely a result 💪
Thanks Dave very interesting, your a cleaver guy
Thanks Steve!! 👍 I could see you were pleased with the result at Sandown, it was very enjoyable working on your Godzilla 😎 I'd be happy to help you again if the need ever arises!!
Wow Dave! This was a fascinating process from start to finish! Well done! Love the scene at the end too! 😂
Thanks!!! 🤘 Glad you enjoyed this, definitely one of my favourite restorations. Oh, and had fun the end scene 🤣
Truly amazing Dave. I just love watching these restoration videos. Fantastic work and that smoke emitting from the mouth 🤯👍🏽
Thanks Gary!! Not sure I can explain how some smoke can be so exciting. But it is!! 🤘
Proper 70s tech. Enjoyed this resto video 🦖🦖 lol that end scene, poor Scott😁👍
Thanks Chris!! Really enjoyed discovering how it was done back then! Don't tell anyone, but it was much better!! 😎 Glad you loved the end scene, and yeah I couldn't think of a better role for Scott 🤣
Lol, that was brilliant. Godzilla says nope to a face off against Chuck Norris. Understandable considering. Well done mate, looks like that was very hard work.
Thanks Bryn!! 🤘 Ha ha, glad you enjoyed the end sequence, that was fun to create. And yeah, you can have ups and downs with restorations but I love the challenge 👍
Mate great video. Like to see some more restoration videos. Also nice to see the M. A. S. H on display.
Hey Kez! Ah cool, you like the restorations! I've always got some on the go, they just take a little while to complete, film, edit etc and YT is not always fond of promoting them, including this one 😔 There's plenty more I've previously released. And yeah, had to decorate the shelf with recent cool pickups 👍👍👍
Another great video Dave! You're doing great work, keep it up!
Cheers Flux!! 👍 Really appreciate the support and encouragement 🤘
Incredible stuff Dave, very cool to get some insight into the inner workings of these 70s Bullmark Godzillas, and I loved the shot of Godzilla terrorising the toy room!😆
Thanks Scott!! 👍 Yeah, love the mechanics of this generation of toys!! Glad you enjoyed the end scene 🤣
Super episode VTR, both came out fantastic. Even Mrs T was impressed with how much patience you showed! (Along with your dedication!)
Thanks Dez and Mrs T!!! 😎 Genuinely, there are moments during a restoration where you just think what am I doing!! But for me, the challenge is all part of it 👍
I’m really glad I found this channel Dave! Always look forward to VTR and Slime House videos. Excellent work as usual 👍 Big fan from NZ
Thanks Cameron! Really appreciate your support from the other side of the world! 🤘 I'm a fan of Slime House too, we occasionally bump into each other at toy fairs! Glad to have you here 👍
Great job Dave.. That looked tricky.. 👍😎👍
Cheers Nick!! 🤘 Some challenges along the way, but really enjoyed this restoration! 👍
Hey VTR Dave, You are looking great and your video presentation is awesome! Thanks for your new video on the restoration for Steve & Joe from @TimeTunnelToysUK of a Japanese 1970s Bullmark Tinplate Godzilla. Your channel can perform even better if you optimize your video titles, descriptions, and tags, which seem to be missing when you upload videos. This is why your videos are currently not showing up on CZcams in the search results for your target audience. You can attract more viewers by making these modifications on your channel. Thank you!
Best regards, Rezaul Bari
Pressure was on Dave! But as always, you nailed it!
Thanks Mark!! 👍 The challenge only made this more enjoyable!!
These metal Godzilla toys look lovely, I appreciate that 70's style. The smoke machine is a great addition to the toy. I have been making a scale model of the ‘Pizza hydrator oven’ form BTTF2. I’m planning to integrate a little ‘matchbox sized’ smoke machine in it. looking at what systems are available, this godzilla toy brings some inspiration! Great restoration video thanks!
Wow, your project sounds amazing! and I like the idea of adding a smoke machine to the oven. Well, hopefully this has given you inspiration especially in how and when you activate the smoke!! It's surprising all of this has been incorporated into toys since the 60s/70s - I love the mechanics of that generation. Thanks!!
Awesome Dave! Great restoration.
Can’t believe how much they go for! 😱
Thanks Adam!! It is amazing how much they demand, but a lot of vintage Japanese toys go for higher than expected 👍
Great restoration, love the smoke effect and a bit of Chuck at the end :)
Thanks!!! 👍 Can't beat some smoke and glad you enjoyed the end scene 🤘
Cool to see MechaGodzilla's inner workings. Nice work restoring this classic toys, even though the one had some trouble. Godzilla Minus One is a good movie too. Cool destruction scene that the end with Godzilla.
Thanks!!! 🤘 Haven't watched Minus One yet but will do now it's on Netflix!!! Glad you enjoyed the end scene and yeah, the mechanical inners are impressive with this one 👍
G'day Dave, Yet another absolutely wonderful toy restoration.... I love it when a hammer is needed to fix a toy 😁....They just don't make toys like they use too.. .Cheers .
G'day!! Thanks! Nothing like a hammer to fix all problems 😎 Actually used a bigger hammer when I returned to the garage 🤣 You're right, they don't make 'em like they used to, I love the design of these 70s mechanical toys!
Ha! The ending killed me! Bahahaha! 😂😂😂
Hahaha!! Glad you found that funny!! 🤣
The scared Winston and Chuck Norris part were very funny! Give yourself some humor credit!
Credit accepted!! 🤘 Had fun creating that scene 🤣
Wow, they dont toys like that anymore 💪🤓 incredible
Yeah Dean!! Love this generation of mechanical toys!! Plus it's a smoking Godzilla... what else do you need!!! 💪
My god they knew how to design a kids toy in the 70s didnt they. The mechanical parts involved in that 😮 I should be saying im surprised you managed to fix that and get it back to full working order, but its VTR Dave we're talking about here, so im not surprised at all. Thats got to be one of your best fixes yet Dave, so satisfying to see such an old toy work again 50 years later, well done. Oh and i agree on the malted milks 👍🏼
Hey Kev!! Thanks 👍 I do love this generation of toys, especially from Japan - their mechanics are right up my street, so hopefully it came through I really enjoyed this one ps only one biscuit better than a Malted Milk... a chocolate Malted Milk 🤘
I liked your joke. Godzilla Minus One. 😂
Ha ha!! Well, at least someone laughed at that one 🤣
When I die, I hope with all my heart that the steward angel who manages the waiting room in purgatory, has your voice.
"Help yourself to a biscuit.
We've got some jammy dodgers, you just have to dig around a bit. I'll bring you all some tea."
Perfect.
One the best comments I've ever had!! Ha, thank you. And I hope the waiting room is as good as the picture you paint 👍
🥰👍
Dave 🇬🇧🤠🍻🇺🇸
Jon!!!! 🇺🇸 🍻🤘🇬🇧
Ciao
Wow that didn’t look easy from the start but you did it ! What’s your day job Dave? Engineering?
I'm actually a software engineer by trade, my dad was an engineer so learnt from him 👍
