- Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I resurrect the Hartford Whalers as an expansion team on NHL 24.
In this episode we will build our team through the Expansion Draft and get an early glimpse at how this team will look come the opening night of puck drop.

@@JVidsGaming Im always down for some NHL content! Regarding my Atlanta expansion team (maybe it’ll work out this time lmao)…i couldnt bring myself to let girard slip through my fingers. I rlly wanted to go for a defensive approach tho so i also picked up patrick, zadorov, bunting, fehervary and kakko. I went to the conference finals in my first season but got swept. I picked up brandon hagel in free agency in the hopes that it will get me over the hump.

I don't blame you at all for going after Girard. Really good pickups all around, especially like going after the young guys in Patrick and Kakko. Zadorov brings a great defensive anchor to the backend and Bunting/Fehervary will bring good, consistent contributions. Who did you have as your goaltender?
Insane that you made it all the way to the Conference Finals in Year 1! Hats off to you. Nice addition with Hagel in the offseason, did you bring in anyone else?

@@JVidsGaming I got pretty lucky in net since i used my number 3 draft pick on a computer generated goalie with high franchise potential. Hes an 85 now. My backup is lukas dostal but so far hes only ever played in preseason lmao.
I traded away casey mittelstadt in the offseason for a third and sharangovich to boost my fourth line.
Im on Episode 7 of the series now and man u made me regret not going after kaner😅
@@lucca2365 Oh wow what a pick! I've never taken a goaltender in the 1st round but I will go for those franchise potential guys in the 2nd round sometimes and it usually takes at least a few years before they're pro ready.
Glad to hear you're cruising along through the series. I definitely didn't expect to make a run at Kaner but it just made too much sense not to. So glad I did!

It is realistic that Colorado would have had Girard available. You can only protect 3 defenseman. Colorado is protecting Toews, makar, and byrum.

These rosters are from 2022
When you make an expansion team in NHL it starts you in the offseason so that's why it may appear that way. As you go on through the offseason you'll see the NHL Draft and free agency are completely altered compared to what happened in the present day.

@@JVidsGaming u choose default and you obviously hadn't updated your roster.
If you update on the roster section , Or upload someones custom (realistic) roster,(( they may even have a post deadline 24 version))... You can get almost current rosters.
Oh and always take the additional year option on the first set of options B4 u start . Then the 'false ' year won't affect the contracts.
