thank you all for your thoughtful feedback re: Bruce looking like a cat. i have now posted the full scene on twitter and you are never allowed to doubt me again: twitter.com/leovader/status/1426628122317922304?s=20
I personally think you should've included this compelling evidence in the video (especially with the bonus meme at the end), but you are the auteur here
@@colette2529 i truly didn't expect it to be so controversial.
I mean, I was literally just about to say. Without him being calked a dog he looks exactly like a cat. Like, even the way he runs. I guess that's just a result of Bruce having to look like the "laddy cat" snowball is pinning after for the joke to work
My issue with this conclusion is that the scene in question is coded like a scene in a 90's comedy when the leading man hits on someone he thinks is beautiful, only for the person to turn around to reveal themselves as a man in drag and/or a Trans person. A terrible, outdated joke that has no place in modern society.
However, I would not put it past the writers of the TV show to take that joke formula and also confusingly map the gender element of the joke to the dichotomy of cats and dogs. Because the punchline in the clip you've shared is not just that Bruce is masculine (unless calling Bruce a "dog" is itself a play on calling him ugly because he's not seen as a girl) but also that he is a dog. Which raises several questions about the relationship of gender and species in the Stuart Little universe I don't think it's prepared to answer. But the appearance of an androgynous dog like Bruce does provide an important clue useful for further analysis.
Your cat is adorable
I like that the original book suggests Stuart is human, just a little fucked up face and height wise. that's canon now. all talking animals in Stuart Little are human. most of em were orphaned by their very reasonable parents for being so short and beastly. cats are not human tho, they just like to chat

The odd thing about the vandalized car is that it's not up on bricks, it's up on the wheels themselves. This implies a market for mouse tires but not mouse rims...
As someone's who's seen, removed, and felt those type of wheels I wouldn't doubt it.
I remember playing with those wheels and wondering if they sold replacements for the tire incase it rips or the thread is worn thin.
Now that I'm older I understand getting replacement parts for toys and collector items isn't as easy as I thought.
So yea.
Stealing them rubber times could cost more than the car itself.
They have rejected human culture obviously including drip And it’s decadence so they only take the tires they’re like communist mice
Or/And a lack of mouse bricks...
Well, you know, not every Mouse has a car. A lot of mice do not know how to drive and therefore, do not need the wheels. The tires on the other hand, can be recycled into several different rubber toys or implements. To a mouse, the rubber is probably more valuable than the car.
What's the state of the mouse class divide in the Stuart little universe.
The weirdest thing in the Little universe is there's one of the books where he encounters a tiny...human women? like, she's a regular lady just small, and he tries to romance her??
I love your being although you never existed
Stuart in the books is a tiny human man. He's described as "looking rather mouselike", but people misinterpreted it to mean he is a mouse.
Like how Twoflower from Discworld was described as "four-eyed" meaning that he wore glasses, but the cover artist drew him with straight up four eyes.
@@HiperPivociarz The illustrations in the book have him as a literal mouse, so it's not hard to see where people got confused
So that begs the question, if they had a child together, what size would it be? Would it be proportionately as small to them as a mouse is to a human or would it be "normal sized" to them?
(Edit: an average mouse is about 9cm long, the average American male is about 175cm tall, so that means their child, if proportionately small, would be about 4.5mm tall)
@@HiperPivociarz Or how Balrog from LotR are described as having darkness behind them that look like wings and now most depictions of them have literal wings

I think one of the main misunderstandings regarding Stuart is that he's not actually a mouse. He is born to human parents, and is described explicitly in the books only as "looking like a mouse in every way". As per the lore, he is entirely human, he just has the exact biology of a mouse for... some reason.

My theory is that the Littles adopted Snowbell as a family member and never actually bothered to learn the complex language of cats only just knowing the fewest necessary to talk to snowbell who in turn only knows a few human words to respond since no one taught him how to speak human. He acts out because he has no way to voice himself in the family who just treat him like a pet. Stuart grew up in orphanage with humans and probably other animals so he learned the other animal languages there.
@@leeroyjenkins0 I don't claim to have all the answers but a possible explanation could be that we see the movie through Stewart's lens of understanding so the translations between animals is seamless to him. Yeah, that's exactly what he is. He's not a literal mouse, he's a tiny man who's "mouse-like". He has mouse features, including a friggin' tail of all things, but he was conceived and born from human parents, and is always regarded throughout the books as a human man. It's.... complicated.
It's definitely one of those things that can only make sense to children, because they'll just blindly accept anything at that age. A fat guy who stalks you every waking moment to see if you're being naughty and breaks into your house once a year to commit reverse burglary? Sure thing. A kleptomaniac magical woman who's got an unhealthy obsession with human dentata? Right on. A human family who gives birth to a boy but looks like a mouse and matures faster than Benjamin Button, who is fully human yet looks exactly like a mouse for some wholly unexplained reason? Does the cat mafia try to kill him or is it just the regular mafia?
@@WobblesandBean so what are his fake parents when they turn up, also mouse looking people?
As I child I had two theories: Stuart was in a “princess and the frog” scenario and he just had to overcome some personality flaw to become a real boy again. The other theory I had was that it was supposed to be a commentary on human experiments on rats. But then why introduce a bird instead of a monkey or a pig, which are other animals we usually use for testing purposes. I also think we could assume that this movie and Enchanted occur in the same universe and that Stuart is merely a cartoon mice that slipped thru to our world. Or maybe the product of a regular mice and a cartoon one.
Humans do experiments on birds too. Mostly pigeons, but songbirds are also used as a model for the neurobiology of language learning.
The animation style used for the TV series reminds me of rwby because of the budget level, and now I cant stop thinking about a recut to fuse the 2 shows. I mean the weird treatment of the faunus combined with the ambiguity of animal human communications in stuart little seems... destined.

Cats can absolutely learn words. My cat will react to the word "food," in particular. Granted, that's due to some serious day in day out associations, so snowbell reacting to "bath" in the same way would mean they bathe him regularly. you are seriously one of the most underrated youtubers. your content is really funny i hope you blow up soon
I think it's cause youTube hates small creators because it doesn't have enough data yet to be able to predict who will like the channel, and they're not gonna waste time on anyone who won't make them that sweet sweet ad revenue so they drag their feet bothering to recommend anyone who doesn't have a decent CTR. Now that he's found an audience and CZcams know his metrics are good and the earning potential is there, I think it's just a matter of time before he releases one that hits the algorithm just right and gets pushed out to a lot of people at once. The growth from his 'are they wizards?' to now is already impressive, and that effect just gets exponentially bigger the larger your subscriber count is to start.
A couple of channels I watch will talk about the channel itself from time to time, and they all describe a similar process. I think most people are biased against smaller channels as well, so it can be roughest trying to build up from that. And he's already done that incredibly fast.
