4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Tell this to Jamaican single mothers who use that as an excuse to abuse their children even to adult years EVEN WHEN YOU WERE OBEDIENT

I can relate to that statement my parents have abused me mentally and my dad even physically.. actually my Mom to
Then do justify it and say you deserve it.
I'll quote scripture and then they mock it.
They'll cuss at me put me down call me an idiot
I've been going through this for years I Maxi 51 now
After all these years they've never truly told me sorry I love them I'm sure I'll have my areas I need to grow in
I can tell you though that it provokes me and I Will stand My ground and say knock it off it's not righteous
Then they point their finger at me like I started it
It really is something to behold and it really grieves my spirit
They claim to be Christian yet they cuss till they not doing what God's word says as far as to praise a family and to me you know when parents love God they want to be an example to their kid they want to leave a legacy of holding this a legacy of righteousness
I'm just venting because they just got on my case they're older so I have to draw the line
God forgive me God help me God help them God help you and your family in Jesus name

If they picked the right person to marry and stop messing with men who are no good. If they stop making no good men fathers and make them have to earn respect from them and the right to be parents they would not be in the position that they're in. If they would have gone after and pursued better men who are Christian they would stay in their place in the house more often, be more feminine, and be in a better place emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. If they would have married and hooked up with Spiritually Mature Christian Men and used their heads more back then as they are now, they would not be running into the issues and the problems that they are running into. They would not be messed up and screwed up like they are right now trying to find a step father for their children but having a hard time to find a father who would adequately discipline their children and help them train uo their children in The Lord.

I delt with religious abuse from my very very abusive Christian father.
He always used "respect thy mother and they father" to justify beating me
And he'd beat me harder if I brought up that he conveniently left out "do not exasperate your children"

Exactly I just turned 18 and I am being treated with too much verbal abuse. Even using financial sources to downgrade me and well I have had enough. I want to move out. I may be broke for a few years but I believe God will provide and keep me.

Father God, thank you children have rights too! In accordance with this word and ephesians 6:4, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 I bind parents in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ not to provoke one's children to anger, binding myself not to be unequally yoked with and have any common share with those who provoke one's children to anger, binding myself not to be unequally yoked with and have any common share with those being privoked to anger, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

my dad has been preaching for years and i never heard him preach about this. my child brought this up in an argument tonight and i immediately humbled and we got back on "talking" terms, i could not believe i had never seen this in the Bible as if it has just got put in there somehow. my dad always preached about honoring mother and father and not this one though. it hits different.

People must remember that children are a gift from the most high. If we wouldn't treat our elders or our spouse in a certain way we should definitely not treat our children in a certain way. We should be paying attention to them and not ordering them so that we can assist in the path that they should go according to the creator. Some parents want to live vicariously through their children or repeat cycles of abuse both verbal and physical because they think that's the only way for children to obey. However there has to be balance yes they should do what we ask them to do but they are not enslaved to us and there comes a time where they challenge us which is biologically normal and we must be prepared for All phases of their lives.

Came across your video and this is exactly me and I’m a mother. My child is 19 and she speaks evil to me and I speak evil back to her. I needed to hear this and will apply this to her. In the meantime I need a prayer chain for my daughter Audrey. She’s gotten out of control and is living with her friend and her mother that I know has turned her against us, she’s been there about 6 weeks and she has gotten worse. Her friend talked her into going to her college with her and to live there . Her parents are divorced and has gone behind her fathers back about the school she talked my daughter into. I need prayer chain that she turns away from them and turns back God and our Lord Jesus Christ

after seeing this verse and reading it and studying just a little about it i realize the wrongs i have been doing to my children, i hugged two of them tonight even though they are all over 18, and now i must get in contact with my youngest who is 18 and pregnant and let her know what i know. i dont know how my father is gonna react when i show this verse to him because he has never spoken about it at all and has been preaching for 23 years.

Thank you so much for this analysis. I don't know why, but a lot of preachers seem to look over this passage. God is not an Authoritive Parent, he does not want to punch us in the face for disobeying him, he is a Loving Omnipotent Deity, and he wants us to understand and love him. And if we let our parental pride blind us with violent rage, are we truly worthy of grace?

Mine never go to this scripture only quote “honor your mother and father” as if it trumps. They can just throw words around trying to dominate you but never consider how it affects you. This walk isn’t easy!

Seeing this only talk about fathers is quite unsettling cause it would be jezebels who use the saying honor your parents for them when they move ungodly and un-righteous.
