Great news Eddie. Loved the Stack, and if it can be reincarnated in a Grade II Listed Building, wow! The temporary site might bring a bit more trade to the Telegraph too? In a previous life I used to drive up twice a week and work in the Royal Mail building on Forth St, and loved(in summer) a quick pint on the Telegraph's roof terrace before heading back south. Coming up in December so it'll be nice to call in after 20 years and have a pint again. Long overdue!
I work for Deliveroo and Uber and the stack was great for business. Glad to hear it's coming back and glad to hear of new restaurants opening up the more the merrier for me and the other riders of Newcastle
I will always remember Stack. Arrived from overseas mid 2021, middle of the pandemic, and had my first beer after arriving at Stack while listening the Sunny Afternoon, with my wife, daughter and grand daughter. Great place, hope it rises again. Cheers Eddie, will still buy you a pint when I’m back but you have to wait a while longer till the Metro is back working to South Shields.
Great news. I loved the old one and was sad to see it go. Both locations look good, the temporary one will be good to see it back and if they make the long term location work that’s even better, I’m all for bringing some of our fantastic old buildings back to life
walked past STACK around late 2018 - looks buzzin but didnt had the time to go in and have a look.. hopefully it will be up till next year.. am planning a return here after 4 years away.. and as usual great content!
I walked past you today on way back to the office behind the station. So that's where you were going. Looking forward to the Stack being outside my work for lunchtime drinks 😁
Looking forward to experiencing the new thriving city centre on my next trip, nowt like that when I left in 1977 but spent my youth mostly in Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, though did fit in the gogo and mayfair and of course saw some amazing bands at the City Hall.
Hello Eddy 👋 The stack was a grand venue and hugely popular. If all parties work together constructively with the temporary & the permanent venue, it will arguably bring vitality, jobs, prosperity to the city and its people. Grand stuff indeed. Thanks for sharing Eddy 👍
The Odeon. The Fire Station. The Bus Station. So many memories in that little area. Never visited the Stack, but you seem enthused Eddie, so I'll assume it was great craic.
Never been personally but know that the Stack has became a massive part of modern day Newcastle so it's great to hear that it is coming back to Tyneside where it belongs!
Should just use the land Ashley sold outside of the Metro station at SJP for the Stack because it doesn't look like nowt is happening there it would be a better location for people especially before and after the matches.
Top stuff Eddy, I think a major part of what made The Stack succeed in Newcastle was the location where it was at down the bottom of Northumberland Street so I hope I'm wrong but for some reason I just can't see it been so popular at its new location as it seems a canny distance from the city centre.
I don't like the new location, one, it's all downhill from the centre of town, and it's really close to the one over the river, seems strange they would have them so close together.
Its a shame stacks around the country were formed by lots of independant traders and local small businsses coming together to afford a site. Newcastles 'stack' is owned by one guy, who has taken a cool concept from manchester and london and monopolized it. It is not the same other stacks in anyway, its lost its local authenticity compared to the fantastic offerings other stacks around the country have. Might as well drink in eldon gardens than in the stack.
@@TynesideLife actually I have been one of the biggest players in newcastle's and the UK hospitality scene for 15 years, and I am nationally and internationally recognised as one of the best in the industry. Just pointing out the fact that Newcastles 'stack' is a corporate monopoly, while stacks around the country are sites for independent businesses to get a foot through the door and get venues open against the corporations.
@@edix1673 I understand. It could do more to include local enterprises and that ‘may’ happen with the future ones. I’m just making the point that it was a flippin great socialising spot and I’ve been socialising around the world for almost 40 years 😅
Eddie you will have to start doing interviews with northeast people who have interesting stories. The channel is class mate .
Definitely. Cheers Marc 👍🏻
Great video, as always, Ed. I’m chuffed to bits about Stack coming back. Never went very often but when I did it was amazing.

You definitely need to visit The Telegraph....we used to sit up on the Terrace many a time watching the Trains pass by.

Very informative Eddie as always, good to have a view and location of the new site rather than just a place name. Cheers
Thanks Andy 👍🏻

Great video thanks for that I’m excited too
Good little place as well. Just a 2 minute walk away from all the bars around the centre of life and the station 👌🏻
Love you NE updates ed , yeah loved popping in the stack for a couple, really great set up, hope the new one has same vibe

Good piece to camera Eddie, yes, the stack will be welcomed back by most folk, great stuff.

Aye it’s all changing Andy and yes it was a buzzing place with a great atmosphere
Great video Eddy mate

Nice! Got to admit i didnt go to the old Stack but will defo have a look one Saturday afternoon. Sounds like a canny vibe
I think you’ll enjoy it Martin
Thanks Eddie. Interesting video. Out of curiosity, why did they call it pilgrim street? Do you have a Holly place around? 🤔
Hi mate, if you watch my video about the Pilgrim St developments, I talk about old medieval Newcastle 👍🏻
Brilliant Eddie can’t wait to see them both… I was a big fan of the other stack before it got kaiboshed 😮 Keep up the amazing work bud ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️

Had to happen. Stack was great 👍🏻
Loving the edit which makes the postman disappear into thin air 👍😂
He went on strike 😃

Good news
Can’t wait for it to come back I’ll need to bring me flatmates and show them around
Hi mate,I'm sure the newcastle stack is stored behind the seaburn stack atm?
Cheers Dave 👍🏻
What happened to the postman
He went on strike 😆
He’s in your head
Eddie the high rise flats is called Bewick Court not Berwick Court 👍
Cheers 👍🏻
Is the longer term location Stacks venue or just Stack-like?
Stack like Callum. I mention this in the video. It’s the same company and style, just not using shipping containers. It’ll be called ‘Stack’ though 👍🏻
I don't like the short term but i liked the log term site
Them stacks started in Birmingham 5 are 6 yrs ago
Stack is the brand name, not the thing itself
🙄
Were ever the stack is located it's near residents property. How Newcastle is changing and has changed over the years
Get In Eddie son...Just watched you on my telly...
Hope you enjoyed my handsome face Ian

There’s currently a planning application in by Strawberry Developmens for four blocks, including a hotel a student apartments

This is just the temporary location mate. The long term one is a much better location 👍🏻
It was great but seemed only for young and able bodied.
One of the things I loved about it, which I talked about in the video, is how age diverse the crowd was. Including customers clearly over 60
railway staff use it as a car park when they don’t have enough parking spaces 😔
😬
Not before time it’s a big miss keep up the good work
I had an overpriced pint of Heineken and it was terrible.
Aye, that would be my only criticism
Glad the stack is coming back
Me too Scott 🤛🏻

it wont attract as many visitors as its out of the way, the old location was much better
You might be right
Concerned about noise pollution? In Newcastle city centre? Probably chose the wrong place to buy a flat then eh?
Was a terrible place to work. The management was diabolical.
You’ll need to elaborate to validate your comment 👍🏻
Went once... didn't like it. Over priced drinks and food.
