    If you want to render it in cycles one solution that i find its to connect the last node to a Toon BSDF and play with the parameters on the last shader for me put the smooth to 1 look prety nice

    The colours of the tree, the yellow and red, have a similar style to the ones from the game, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

    Thank you so much, this tutorial was great, it was easy to follow and the trees looks perfect! Since you're also using UE, do you have any suggestions on how to export this to Unreal Engine (5)? I tried exporting the file it to an fbx file and ticking some properties on and off, but the leaf material never seemed to properly export and it just became a default-looking material in UE :( I'm just starting out on blender/UE and I'd appreciate any help :D

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před měsícem

      Hi! You will need to manually recreate the leaf material in UE. The sad thing is it's extremely hard to get the trees to look this way in UE since the engine is built for realism. I can make a video about it if you want. I'll do my best to make the tree as similar as possible!

    • @vsucc3176
      @vsucc3176 Před měsícem

      @@lilpuffpuffstudios I would really appreciate that. I've tried recreating the material myself, but especially the shadows between the leaves really take away from the style (especially since I tried it with a pine tree )
      If it isn't too much of a hassle- your knowledge would help me and probably others a lot! :)

    where do you find the Shader to Rgb node? im using Blender 4.0

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před měsícem

      You should be able to find it with Shift + A in the shader menu. It should be in the converter section or you can type it in search. If it doesn't show up then you may be using the wrong render engine. Make sure you are using eevee and not cycles. I hope that helps!

    Hi! I followed your tutorial but when I put a light in the scene, the leaves are not afected by it. What can I do to solve this issue?

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před 10 měsíci +1

      You may want to check to make sure you are in render view. Next you want to check to make sure your light is strong enough. I would set it to a power of ten. If you are using an area or point light the power will need to be much greater for the light to affect the model. Let me know if this helps!

    This is a great tutorial, one question though, in your shadow settings, do you have "soft shadows" unchecked? I was getting a different result with the leaves until I unchecked that

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm not sure, but most likely. I would go back and check, but my laptop had issues with an update that forced me to factory reset it. Sadly I believe that file was lost. From my anime shading research, I believe soft shadows are usually turned off.

    • @JacobHalton
      @JacobHalton Před 8 měsíci

      @@lilpuffpuffstudios Oh okay cool, thanks! I thought there might be another way, if there's a need to occasionally have soft shadows on certain objects, or keep the edges more solid when they're closer to the thing creating the shadow

      Double check to see if you have your leaf alpha imaged plugged into the factor input of the mix shader. You can also check to see if the material blend mode is set the alpha clip. I hope that helps!

    7:04 my leaves turn white when I add the normal, but it doesn't when I connect it to roughness
    Edit : I guess it doesn't really matter

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That's odd. It may be the placement of the sliders on the color ramp. I know on certain objects adding the normal node completely changes the shading, but leaves usually don't have that issue. As long as you transfer the normals from a sphere you should get pretty much the same result.

    • @lilpuffpuffstudios
      @lilpuffpuffstudios  Před 10 měsíci +1

      You may be able to try using a few spheres instead of leaves. It won't look exactly the same, but it could get a close enough look without killing your computer. You can also try bigger but fewer leaf textured planes. Sadly fancy trees are a bit tough on computers
