Gladiator Deleted Scene - The Conversation (2000) - Russell Crowe Movie HD
When a Roman general is betrayed and his family murdered by an emperor's corrupt son, he comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
The scale of production for this movie is still crazy to this day.
Seriously. Even the deleted scenes are gorgeous
Literally, for a film that came out in 2001, you would think it’s less than ten years old.
This scene should have been kept because it raises the stakes even more.
You can find it in Gladiator's Extended Edition (Director's cut).
I like Connie , she's not only charming but has that traditional regal look no wonder she was chosen to be Hippolyta
I felt Wonder Woman utterly squandered Connie Nielsen's immense talent and missed a massive opportunity to show how Amazon society actually worked- or even how it emerged. It was literally an open-goal to explore what could have highly complex, if not Shakespearean, characters. In age where Hollywood and Western culture is desperate for strong-female characters, they passed up the chance to explore the mythical Amazons and perhaps ask how such a society could exist. But no... Instead we got a Disney plot and the character of Hippolyta was wasted. Though at least in the Zynder Cut of Justice League we got a bit more of Hippolyta's character
Shes also beautiful
You can almost imagine a similar conversation happening before Caesar was assassinated.
How sad they cut this scene from the film. It shows how afraid Lucilla is for her son and for all of Rome, fantastic acting by Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi.
3:30 "As long as the people support him, we are voices without steal; we are air." ~ Senators
"You want to be free? Win the crowd. We are but shadows and dust, Maximus." ~ former Gladiator Praximo.
Did anyone catch the subtle connection there?
I'm hoping for an extended cut of this great movie to happen one day, one that includes cut scenes like this one. Great scene, it gives even more gravitas to the story.
There is
The extended version has existed for almost a decade now, maybe even more than a decade
@@bottleddawn3678 Yes, I found a copy on bluetooth. Love the extended version.
It’s a less drastic difference than say, the Kingdom of Heaven director’s cut, but it is still a moderate improvement on what was an already great movie.
Connie Nielsen, beauty with age...
I really wish that this scene had not been cut, it really gives us a better and deeper look into the evil of Commadus, and how much his enemies knew they had to get rid of him. High stakes indeed.
The main reason I wish this scene was in was because then we would have known how in the world Commodus was affording the games and further show the cunning of Derek Jacob's character "Gracchus".
Pretty much tax-paid luxury football stadiums in a nutshell.
I do not watch professional sports anymore.
I wish they'd have kept this scene & the scene Commodus executes his own men- it made him even more despicable.
I think I've seen that scene. Were they really his own men?
@@samkresil6011 They were "loyal to the Emperor" according to Quintus.
Never seen this footage before. Now, I am entertained!
That last quote reminds me of this verse in Matthew 10:16 “See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves"
What a beauty she is.
The part that begins at 3:26 is really interesting. How many times has that happen in history ?
A small treacherous group, patiently waiting for the appropriate time to strike and replace those in power, often to put in place the exact same system ...
They actually DO want to change the system as restore Republican values, this is explored more in the movie
I wish they kept it in the movie. "The future pays for it." Everytime you the government gives you something "for free", without raising taxes, you'll pay for it later. Am I right, Greece?
As we are about to find out
Tell that to the corporations and IMF that twisted Greece's arm on de facto imposed and predatory loans, as global capitalists are wont to do. Certain many in Greece borrowed when they shouldn't have, but on the whole it is the ruling financial elites and their instruments of power who bring the world to their knees under the deceptive letter of 'fair' contract. Not to mention it is always the entitled rich who ever pay less and less while complaining that too many 'handouts' are given to the undeserving and that their own taxes are too high. Such is the stuff of neoliberal delusion and a major cause of today's woes.
@@Sinleqeunnini Ha! Global corporations and IMF described here as capitalists. Oh, ignorance with a megaphone -- how the sheep follow their wolf masters!
@@carltonreese4854 - right? It’s astonishing how stupid the average person is. “Capitalism bad! Look how smart I am!”
@@billhughes7927what does the boot taste like
Today I learned they started shooting this movie with only a 21 page script and stayed up every night to write the following days script so that they would have something to shoot!
RIP John Shrapnel. Such a great actor.
SOMEONE PLEASE include all the deleted scenes for a COMPLETE version of the Gladiator... even if 5 hours long....... it NEEDS to be shown...
There is
@@Shadow-gm9ctThe movie could have easily been 5 hours long.
Funny enough, Gracchus' plan mirrors closely to that of the sea creature Falco spoke about to Commodus, to lie still and wait for the enemy.
I'm guessing that's one of the reasons the scene was cut; they probably didn't want two scenes with basically the same dialogue. Lucilla also delivers the line about "living in a prison of fear" in a separate scene talking to Maximus, so that would've been repetitive too (and I do think it's more effective in the scene w/ Maximus). That said, they still could've kept the parts of it where they're talking about Commodus selling the grain. That would've been good to have in there.
They should of kept it in coz it really shows marcus Aurelius's wisdom not wanting his son to rule but I can see why they would cut it. it shows what side lucilia is on already. and her true motives
And you "should of" read some more books in your prime.
@@dkazmer2 You don't have very many friends, do you. I can't imagine why.
2000...where have you gone...
Connie Nielsen is a classic cinematic beauty and was made for films like this. Now she's an amazon..
It was the Praetorian Guard who protected the Emperor if you could bribe them enough to kill him
Rural Nevada says, "Screw You." We know our neighbors and we know no one is sick !
Just from this scene you can realise what a great actor Derek Jacobi is / was. What is it with British acting and actors ? Do they put something in water there which make them such amazing performers ?
They hone their skills in theatre
The music at 2:40 keeps giving me chills...
One of my favourite soundtracks ever, Hans Zimmer is a genius.
She is so pretty 🦋
we are docile...we are obedient...and we are treacherous
Conrad of Montferrat what does the last word mean?
Manu Empez means they would betray, back stab, go against the person they’re obeying.
As if their master asking them to be obedient, makes them grow hatred and strike back against him when they get the chance.
Jews...
Honestly one of the best lines in the whole movie I can’t believe they took it out!
Great line
That moment when you only have watched the uncut version and be shocked that this scene never made it in the movie
I love it, but understand that the reason for cutting it was to keep Lucilla's character more ambiguous until closer to the end.
@@DarlingNikki2 True, this would have changed the direction of the film a lot.
this is when they were being busy little bees
Whoah!! So this scene was deleted? I always believed that this was included in the movie.
I remember my dad always play this movie when I was a kid.
She should have been made Empress, but then there would be no movie.
They should have kept this scene with the other scenes it explains so many things and it links the other things with the things.
Keep it. Great!!!
This deleted scene belongs back in the movie.
THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CUT IT CONTEXTUALISES SO MUCH.
Should have kept this scene tbh
Ooowee, Gracchus you's a bad boy.
It´s ironic how the woman who Commodus loved the most was really plotting against him.
The sick part was she was his own sister and was terrified of him.
Is there a cut of Gladiator with all the deleted scenes included?
Never realised just how much they cut out of this movie . So many little scenes which fill in a few key gaps . Ive not seen the extended version only the regular but I will compare the 2 the extended version has to be better
This scene, while interesting and intriguing, and could've served as good contrast to the "still sea creature" scene, is completely unnecessary except for further developing Lucilla.
How many scenes did they delete?? Terrible. They deleted almost another Gladiator.......
I got the Director's Cut..nothing deleted.

This is a deleted scene?it was in the movie that i watched

Great scene for Derek Jacobi. Pity it didn't fit the flow.

This scene should never had been deleted, because it weakens the main drama of a movie , it is a political one rather than gladiators figths.
I don't understand why they took scenes like this out
It was decided to keep Lucilla's character more ambiguous until closer to the end.

Is anyone watching this just after Trump's coup attempt?
That was not a coup. What you will see from those in the military however, to include myself and my squadron. That befits the term much better. Real America is against you at every front. Waiting.
Ha, this entire scene makes him sound like Trump. Replace 'arena' and 'coliseum' with 'the wall'.
Lovely scene with top acting but it slows the story. Must be hard cutting quality but you know you've got a good film!
Pagan Pilgrim I disagree. Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones had plenty of great action but also alot of quiet dramatic scenes.
