For the teleport skill, if you have such a plugin you can set it to be enabled or disabled via switches.
Test maps are something any game should have. Many games still have test maps left over.

Echo, you've helped me a lot with these videos and I've learned a lot. And much of the stuff you've said reinforces a lot of what I've thought for a good long time (about people quickly judging RPG Maker games) and some of these tips, while I felt were common sense things, I'm glad you actually said them.
Anyhow, here's a something I'd like you to possibly cover in future Tips & Tricks video.
HP-Step ability. I've yet to find a way to recover a set amount of HP per step, only percentages using the HP Regeneration Ex-Parameter. If there's a way to make it so that it's a set variable, I'd sure love to know. And also make it so it doesn't auto-recover per turn in battle... it's a mechanic a lot of RPGs have employed, but when you have upwards of three to four thousand HP, even a 1% per step recovery can be very broken. Having that number set to 5 HP or something would help the player but not ruin the balance or completely negate the necessity of a healer or healing items.

Actually, if you just want it outside of battle and at a set number, I think you could do that with common events - like have it count the steps and if it adds one, check if anyone in the party is equipped with an accessory or whatever the trigger is, if so, change that characters HP +5.
...Or something, I haven't tested it though.

My views on map creation differs from yours but even so you have great ideas and some stuff from your style can lend itself to mine. Your process is well done and I love your videos. They are very helpful.

+Hey, David Here There are lots of types of games out there:P The tips in the video are mostly suggestions or things I've noticed over time. You also get better with practice and learn what works and what doesn't so much as you go^_^

Hey echo, is there a tutorial on the "Cheer" your crew does at the start of a battle? or similiar stuff?
You know what would be awesome? That skill tip, but EXTENDED!
I mean, a whole video showing a few interesting skills like teleportation, flash, ghost mode, fly/float in the air, ultra vision (where you leave youth character where you were and go explore without fearing creatures and npcs to see you.
And that's just a few ideas. Anyway, that would be epic ^^

What's the difference between ghost mode and ultra vision - just that you have a 'ghost' character in one but nothing in the other?
+Echo607 It's Mailly that in ghost mode, when you deactivate it, you stays where you are.
However, in ultra vision, you would come back to where you "left" your body.
Anyway, I think that presenting them in that "10 tips and tricks" layout is just fine. Meaning "Today we'll be looking at 10 awesome skill ideas! First, TP, you would achieve that by doing, blahblahblah"
This way, if you spend about 2 to 4 minutes per skill, you may be able to present 5 of them in a 15 minutes video.

Also, making a full event-picture title would be nice. I used to make some on VxAce (I got one on my channel if you wanna see it's named "Ecran titre Alice", however khas's awesome lights effects made it lag and crash).
Making full event title gives you soooooo much freedom *-*.
Next step is reproduce in MV the Valkiries title I managed to reproduce in VxAce (also in my channel if you wanna see, it's named "Test Rmex")

but there you can change the BMG/SFX ect! so if you want that music/sound effects lower or muted bam!

How big would you suggest making the main world? What's big enough to encompass everything you'd need but not so big that it takes the player too long to get from one place to another?

I've only used 3 of the premade maps in my game and that's all I'm planning on using. 1 of them I did change up a bit tho. I also have a text scrolling intro, but it only lasts a minute. Honestly this game I'm making is just my first try at something big. I'll probably make a remake of it where it's way better. But I think this is fine for my first big project. The game will be about 5 hours long and will include an optional dungeons with "special" bosses. It will even have 3 different endings, and a secret super boss if you get the 3rd ending. It will also be commercial free! So it's a free game. It probably won't be that great but I think it will be really good for a first game. I've sent out betas to my friends and they all like it a lot, and it's not cuz they're my friends. Trust me, they can be assholes at times. I really hope people enjoy it, I'm pouring a lot into this game.
I use Sample Maps, but I also don't. Most maps I do myself, but when I need like, an example to go off of, I usually load up a sample map and go off of it. Edit some hallways, change the walls, make it bigger, etc. Eventually it almost becomes unrecognizable.

+Echo607 I'm not sure because I think the length will depend on which path the player will take as the game is non-linear. also it will take me a bit to polish the demo, as I'm drawing my own enemies and cut scenes so I will bother you when you do demos again.
This is weird, and I know it sounds odd, but the "-eheh" you put after saying "yay" reminds me of my sister.
Your tips are very helpful. About the Teleport Skill thing, is it possible to apply it to a reusable item the player can use? Ex: The player's party is in a tough dungeon, the player doesn't have a healer, and they're running out of healing items so they use the Teleport item instead of constantly back-tracking and risk dying.
+Doug Long Should be able to. Just have the Item call the common event instead and have Consumable set to no, and if you only want it for dungeons and not escaping from battle, set it to Occasion: Menu Screen:3

Take advantage of moveroutes, animations, screen tints and screen scrolling and you're pretty much good to go with making things look dramatic:P

Is RPG Maker MV better than VX Ace? And how limited is it? Can I customize EVERYTHING, meaning tiles, characters, monsters, music, scenery, etc.? I have my storyline ready to go, and some of my personally animated drawings for characters, but just need to be pointed in the right direction. Kind of a dumb question from an outsider here, but are there options to how combat plays out? I saw one video where the combat played out almost like a music rhythm game.
Just talking out loud, but you know what I think would be cool as a mod to throw on this? If, asides from the traditional turn based combat, if you had options to make the combat different. Like if the other 2 modes were Paper Mario/South Park stick of Truth style combat or Arcade Beat em' up.
I know, I know, I'm talking about like a watered down version. But I just wonder how a game would come off, if when you play the game walking around and stuff, it's like final fantasy, but when you actually get in a combat situation with enemies then the gameplay goes to something like an rpg version of Dragon's Crown or Scott Pilgrim vs the world (ya know, like simpsons arcade or Xmen arcade). And then of course you level up and everything afterwards. I'm just wondering if they could ever make that on another RPG maker or DLC.
But the question I have for what we have now, is there any variation to the turn based combat as is, or is that pretty much the only option? Even if turn based combat was the main option, that scene in the other video where some of the combat was a rhythm game was kind of cool.

How do you make cutscenes involving more than one npc?
Also, how do you make Sprite sheets with more than one character panel?
I'm going to guess you're using the generator?
If that's the case, you can export a graphic, and import it into the next one. If you need further explanation, feel free to ask.

+Vanzuhn They're great for testing and playing around, but it's much more fun exploring an interesting world(it also gives you a chance to practice mapping since there are only so many sample maps to go around):P
Well what I ACTULLY did was just change around a few walls, and change a few textures...... and a few floors.....

+Akemi Homura Armors > create accessory details > Traits > Party Ability > Encounter None. Will prevent encounters while equip.
:P Items to negate encounters(like a Repel) are a little more work:3

@@Echo607 Just make an item give a status that can only be turned off after a certain amount of steps that stops encounters. If you don't give it an icon and make its priority 0, it's pretty much invisible too.

When making changes to the Database, I used to click Apply, THEN CLICK OK AFTERWARD, *THEN RE-OPEN THE DATABASE TO MAKE MORE CHANGES.*

Echo607 can you please do a tutorial on Yanflys YEP Actor Variables and how to use Variables change a state the player is in. For example: Your player has 100 hunger, 100, thirst, and 100 sleep. After 20 mins of game play the variables now read Hunger 90, thirst 50 (depending on what the player is doing) Sleep 50. How would you event that?
Another example: If Hunger reaches 0 a game over will happen saying you have died of hunger.
