As a former FMC employee , I am proud to see the Marines putting the AAV through the training . We worked hard at the San Jose plant to upgrade the whole fleet . Semper Fi !
Ah the jetty at Del Mar... I remember that. Long, long, long time ago (1980) Did my time with 2d AAVs at Lejeune, went to Beirut in 83. YATYAS brothers.
I was there at Courthouse Bay when you all got back from Beirut. 2nd AAV BN.
@@WayneHarris Which company?
@@CplSkiUSMC HQ, then Bravo.

Miss the AAV. Spent 4 years with it. 2 years on ACV. Hard to disregard your roots though.
SSGT SHEEDY!!!! Looks like GYSGT SHEEDY at this time. SEMPER FI! You were my SSGT when I was a SGT. ALWAYS looked up to you.
Master Sergeant Sheedy!
Ayo...I was there this is my class what a cool find on the internet.
How is it man
brought back some cool memories of Del Mar. I was with HE Plt LSB our shop back in 85-87 was right across from the AAV . So much of that area has changed, I drove through there while on vacation in 2019. Semper Fi
Ah, the good old days... more squadbay living days, long classes, learning water ops in the jetty and on the beach, range days, installing and removing the EAAK, that "moto" swim across the jetty in water that was probably more petroleum-based products than actual water... so worth it, though, when you graduate and are in the Fleet. Some of my fondest memories of the Corps were as an 1833. Del Mar, Twentynine Palms, Oki, LF CARAT '01 on the USS Rushmore, going to Kuwait and Iraq with some of the best friends I could have asked for... YAT-YAS!
Spent a lot of time in the back of those old diesel coffins was there in Nasiryah with 1/2 on March 23 2003 when the Doc from 2nd AAV, Doc Fonseca carried out his actions that resulted in him receiving the Navy Cross.
Even as a 0311 I still loved the Smells and Sounds of WARHOGS..OooooRaaahh!!
Fabulous video. Thanks for sharing it!
Puke bucket....its rolling~floading torture chamber.
Dark, loud, with engine exhumes flooding the chamber making it hard to breath. With rolling and pitching in the sea...little wonder why infantry run out when the door opens
And you had the upgraded ventilation system .
Same track I drove in 85 YatYas!
I was 82'-86'
same track i drove 03-07

Actually, I'm a total fan of this amphibious assault vehicle! 0:07
DelMar “near beer” E Club days. Lol. The memories were some of the best times til i got bounced to 2ndMar in OutHouse Bay. Crazy part is I picked East Coast vs 1stMar or Hawaii. 18yr old mistakes. (‘89).
I did this back in 1988. Same Amtracs.
YAT-YAS 94-98. Good ole Camp Del Mar. I was 2d AAVS Charlie Co. Semper Fi
Unopened 12-count MRE boxes sure make great seats in a pinch.
Spent my whole tour at 3rd Tacks H&S. Co. Motor T 85-89
Wow, it’s been 30 years since I’ve been there. Is the Del Mar e club still as wild as it used to be?
Negative!!!! That thing closed down years ago. They build barracks there now. Camp Del Mar is the new Main Side.
This job has the same level of Lethal Danger as a fighter pilot & NONE of the Glory or Pay.
1833 and AVUL School in 1977-78
Motor Op trying to LAT move any tips or Suggestions if I decide to go to this MOS.
a floating tank, now i've seen everything
Freaking death traps... Operating in heavy seas, they're one wave away from being swamped and those that survived had to probably fight for their lives to get out . They should be moth-balled. If these were operated by a private company, there would be hell to pay in wrongful death lawsuits.
YATYAS
Not quite , but it can do some damage . Aluminum hull can only stop small arms and some shrapnel.
Oh you’ve never seen a LAV before then, that’s what you really think of as a floating tank
how does the aav move in the water?
I have noticed that some have return rollers above the track , but some don't . Anyone know what's going on here ? 1:35 modeller .
RamRS upgrade, some got it some didn't
The P - 7 A - 1 that we upgraded at FMC did not have support rollers .
16:03 It's a bit like being a submariner- I see why they dog the hatches before launching !! Driver needs a scuba suit . ( one of these would be great for getting the groceries on a Friday night , can you imagine that in TESCO's car park !!!!!! Give the 4X4 nuts an inferiority complex ... Where do you park it ??? - Anywhere I bl***y well like !!! ) Wales Uk.
Somebody buy these guys a Lume Cube

So you're telling me I'm going to be sitting in a 28 Ton Iron Coffin that is gonna drive in dangerous.
WHY THE FCK ARE THEIR HULL PLUGS IN MY TURRENT ALVAREZ?
about to spash of a lhd
and its aluminum
U guys get stationed in a ship? That’s the only reason I wouldn’t pick that mos please someone tell me cuz I’m trying to pick my mos
They get station are Camp Pendleton I’m pretty sure
you can go to 29 pedleton or camp lejune but i wouldnt choose it if i where you
I always think of how did guys die in landing of tanks in ww2 when anphibious sank but now thinking they are not whering swim shorts and swim fins I've swam with boots and cloth on once and it's was scarry luck I could touch and kick of bottom and reach surface but almost drown in 7' of water in pond
Wow
THE ASSULT AMPHIBIOUS VEHICLE IS SO COOL!
Wow cool

Do the aav mechs go out in the field with them?
martin rrr yes
Yes we did.
How else are they supposed to fix the shit I break? YAT YAS
Now they've all been removed from service because they can't keep 30-50 year old vehicles amphibious.
Still can’t believe they have females. Throwing ropes and buddy dragging is hard enough. Hope everyone stays safe

Can anyone with this MOS tell me what it's like? I've been looking into this job field for awhile now.
^ not doing it anymore lmao
I’m leaving in July with this job. I want to know more about it
@@dstro8471 When you enter the fleet please tell me what it's like. I'm thinking about this mos or aviation maintenance
akira ! I can already tell you what it’s going to be like. It’s a combat support job so you’re going to be with the grunts doing what they do but you’re not a grunt. They have to walk everywhere while you get to ride in the aav. Probably going to be station at Camp Pendleton. Since it’s tracks you’re probably going to be maintaining your vehicle. Go talk to a recruiter about it. I just saw someone driving it on water and I thought it was cool so I chose it 🤷♂️
dont do it
Yeah, it’s long hours on the ramp, busting rust, going out to the field every other week, breaking them, towing them, working on them. In combat, they are huge bullet magnets, and they break down at the worst possible time. Lots of fun. But, the new amphibious combat vehicle, a wheeled amphibious assault vehicle, looks like it’s gonna be a huge upgrade.
These vehicles look kinda old and beaten up. Am I wrong?
No you are not wrong as those are the old AAV's which have been active for a very long time, the new ACV are currently replacing these models.
@@conquerneptune1171 Thanks
They looked pretty when they left the factory in San Jose , but that was in 1988 .
Do they have many lady mechanics?
My baby brother is an 1833. YAT YAS
Reckless. Used to tie glow sticks around trees in Lejeune so those silly bastards didn't run us over in our sleep.
I was a Marine from 84-88. I pray for these Marines under this horrible Administration now. I could never serve under Biden.
Haha bucket check class. They let women in the AAVs now?????!!!!!!!!
Been like that for a while buddy
Unfortunately
thats nuts
