As a person who was there at the time, there were a lot of bands that the main stream didn't know about. Few were on radio because of time. It all depended on who you hung out with and what they listened to.

Glad you liked it...I'm glad I was the one who requested it. Just a side note...this is the late great Lee kerslake on drums who is best known for playing on Ozzy's first two classic albums Blizzard of oz and Diary of a madman. Rock on T!

Uriah Heep has been in my top 5 favorites since I heard them in the early 70s. On the classic rock stations in Houston, they pretty much played "Easy Livin'" and "Stealing". Sometimes a few other songs

Great late Lee Kerslake playing the Over The Mountain drum fill in rhe middle of the guitar solo. He also played it after Randy's solos in I Don't Know and Crazy Train 🤘 This is a great song!!

Favorite rock bands of the 70s are Nazareth, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Rainbow's "Stargazer", Uriah Heep's "The Wizard." And others.

I saw Uriah Heep only once but it was during their Demons and Wizards Tour. What a great, high energy band.
Some of my favorite bands from the 70's...Not The Usual Suspects
    Montrose
    Crack The Sky
    Captain Beyond
    Roxy Music
    Todd Rundgren's Utopia (original lineup)

    Poco
    Little Feat

Uriah Heep got very little radio play. Stealin' or Easy Livin' was about it. At least in the US, they had a bigger following in Europe. I saw them live 3 times back in the day - amazing live band.

I was there, and I'm a huge fan of Heep. They did get some songs on the radio (easy livin and Stealin') but they were a fans band right down the line, all the way! We couldn't get enough of them and still can't. Kinda like the Grateful Dead's Deadheads! Mick Box is still going with Uriah Heep and they still sound great!

Uriah Heep is one of my favorite bands. Thanks for covering. You really need to cover King's X, particularly the Gretchen Goes To Nebraska album. Power trio that is widely regarded by other bands as the most underrated band still touring.

They were fairly popular in Europe. I don’t know why they never made it in US. I do recommend their earlier stuff though which is perhaps bit more Deep Purple/Led Zeppelin style.

You also need to react to IT'S A SAD WORLD- BLOODROCK a hugely under-rated group. Their music is so good, I've wondered for years why they weren't bigger.

There are better songs from this album than Shady Lady. Devil's Daughter is a solid rocker, but overall the Return To Fantasy album doesn't rank as high as Uriah Heep's best releases--those being Look At Yourself, Demons And Wizards and The Magician's Birthday. As far as radio airplay and Uriah Heep go, the only songs I ever heard were Easy Livin', Sweet Lorraine and Stealin'.

  • @donsaunders5348

There are much better songs on that album and I'm not aware of any of them getting radio play in the SoCal area..... Uriah Heep has always been basically a cult band that few people were aware of, but those that were/are...... are committed fans
