One of the most underrated groups of their time

Even being abhorrently underrated, they were still extremely influential in what became heavy metal.
The mix of Byron, Thain, Box, Hensley, and Kerslake is and unmatched force in hard rock/early heavy metal imo. Even sabbath, and purple cant hold a candle to them

Heep fan since 1970. The great thing is, they're still rockin'!

URIAH HEEP British LEGENDS with the great David Byron on vocals since 1969.
The HEEP are still going now.

The singer now has been there since the 80's (as has the keyboard man ) and is the best since Byron and perfect for Heep .

When this song came out it was banned in America because of the line "Done the ranchers daughter." I love this band .

Hi. Thanks for the reaction. I'm always surprised when folks have never heard of Uriah Heep. As a young person in the 60s and 70s, they were one of my favorite rock bands. Still are. I would direct you to what I believe are their two best records: Look at Yourself and Demons & Wizards, the latter of which I believe to be Heep's masterpiece, as well as one of the most brilliant albums ever. Cheers.

Although I played drums for a few bands, Uriah Heep gave me a good appreciation of what an excellent keyboard player could bring to the band table.

Cool to see your reaction to UH. They were quite big in the seventies, and they have lots of good stuff from their early seventies albums. Heavy and progressive, with vocal harmonis better than most. As a Uriah Heep fan I'd recommend a song with the most over the top crazy organ playing I've ever heard(and a good build-up). You should listen to the song "Gypsy"

Should have been as big as any in their day! Great band up to 1976 until they licked out the singer and they were never quite the same again. Still had their moments but not what they had been. They are still around and would definitely go see them if in my town.

I used to think they said "Stealin when I shoulda been lyin", which would've made it more "psychopathic Wild West". I've never gotten used to the tamer, "buyin".
If you want your boss to send you some mischievous weird music (for bears to ride bicycles to, sometimes), then get him to send you something by *Cardiacs* . Maybe the lyrics video to *Buds and Spawn* (because you're not going to hear the message without it). czcams.com/video/N468bj9-FUQ/video.html
OK, there's no message I can properly discern. Why does there always have to be a message? Can't the music be its own reason for listening?

Aaron-I saw Uriah Heep live several times in the 1970s. and they always impressed me(in general) as a better live band than studio band. "Stealin'" was the exception to that rule. Stealin was easily their most accessible and Top 40-friendly tune, and 16-year old me loved it when it was released in 1973.(still do) Fun fact: It's widely accepted that Uriah Heep was one of the inspirations for the legendary band "Spinal Tap." The Heep dabbled in obscure quasi-religious references and heavy guitar riffs, as well as perpetually seeming to be a step or two away from being a headliner.

Listen to Tears In My Eyes and Look At Yourself by these guys. They were huge in the '70s. Mick Box the lead guitar player is the sole remaining member still living. The band still records and tours.
