Experience is really everything. Imagine trying to fix this card for the first time - it would take hours if not days of trying to figure out what's wrong with it.
I mean that's the time we're paying for when we send something for repair.
People like Alex spent hours upon hours to figure out these common problems are, and because of that they're able to fix things so fast.
Exactly. This is why you send things in for someone like Alex to fix it, rather than fixing it yourself, even if you have the tools on hand.
A million dollar smile with happy face right after work done. That's really charming about you sir indeed. All the best ahead.
Awesome fix as always...One humble request, When extracting replacement parts form Donor boards can you please state/ measure the values of the ie. caps or other components to benefit people who do not have access to donor boards...Thanks....Keep up the good work.
Value of the caps would be unknown unless you have the schematics unfortunately.
@@candr0idcrypto383 that's why he asked if he could measure the capacitor. Capacitance and esr can be measured, voltage can be estimated by powering the device and measuring.
@@candr0idcrypto383 if you have a donor board you can measure the value of the cap on a meter - given that it's a common fix I am surprised he's not done that and has a strip of fresh caps.
Best tech fixer i ever see on youtube.Whish i had one like you here in Romania.. Good job and awesome fix like everytime.👍👍
You actually do now. I'm starting my electronics repair business, it's probably gonna be live next week.
Primesc colete din toata tara.
Such a fast and quick fix is only possible with an incredible amount of experience. you are simply the best. Go on alex...very nice video. Thank you for give us so many tips. Thank you
i hope he starts a forum like eev blog and people share knowlege there it would be a game changer in the electronic self repair community
Man, do i feel dumb for trashing a card that had a similar issue lol. And i had the equimpent and experience to do a similar repair, had i known what to look for. Guess you learn something new every day. Thank you for this video, very professional, entertaining, and most importantly, informative.
Daaaaaaamn, look at Alex going into this repair with so much swagger. He was in "hold my beer" mode from the start.
My favorite part of all of your videos is the look of happiness and pride, that you get, every time you fix a device...
If anyone ever asks what "experience at work" means, show them this video, there's no better explanation to those words. Amazing, knowledge and skills.
There Is no knowledge that is not power, it relax me just watching a lot this channel...it is just great 👍👍👍
Any customer that sees your shop and drops by to see if you can help them with some broken electronics ... has had a good day!
I think it’s Shane who mentioned about that 0 Ohm resister (R987) on one of the graphics card repair.
Alex, your English diction is perfect, I am 70 years old slight hard of hearing but have no trouble understanding every word you say unlike other utubers mumbling all the time. Love all of your videos, cheers from Ireland.
Really like your videos. Such vast experience. I have been playing around with electronics lately but unfortunately have no idea where to get components to try some repairs. Great job once again!
This was a really nice badass fix! So fascinating to see how you know when the 5V is missing then lock at the step down converter and instantly know which pin is ground and even better that you know whats blown up if pin 2 Haß ground too! But mindblowing After all this is that you know that the 0 ohm resitor is often fucked up too!
Just incedrible and really interesting to watch!!!
Wish big Boss and you the Best!
Thank you for briging life back to these state of the art machines.
Thank you for all those great knowledgeable video really enjoy watching them, I can see your passion in what you do nice to see.
Good work, as they say "time is money". Speed of repair is very important to keep your business running.
I always love how happy you look when you pull off a repair.
Excelent video and explanation. As most of time 👏🏻
ماشاء الله تحليل للمشكلة فقط من الخبرة برافو عليك استمر بتقديم المحتوى الممتاز 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I LOVE the look on your face when you are sucessfull at a repair, A master at work!!
I really liked all your works sir, and I admired your skills ang knowledge, I was inspired to complete the tools & equipment so I can do repairs like what you're doing in all your videos
Repeats can make the job go faster, nice work once again.
Video card repairs are always satisfying to watch, Nice fix as always :)
Can we give doble like? You are really the best, experience is almost everything. It's such a pleasure to see your fixe, looks so easy and clean.
Love watching your repair vids, wish you had a more vids each day of the repairs you do throughout the day. Keep up the good work.
One more happy customer. 👌👏
Those 0ohm resistors will trip you up sometimes, great work as always.
Great job Alex 👏
its nice to see how you cheer up/smile when you successfully do a repair. keep up the good work man, we appreciate you.
Smile on your face is always good sign :D This is the way all things should be fixed !
Experience, Knowledge and right tools.. All in one.
You make it easy to fix.
Greetings from ALBANIA!
That was awesome! I have the same card and it runs flawlessly thankfully because I can't afford a new card these days, prices are just insane... Respect to your work, very impressive. I've never attempted anything like this because of lack of knowledge and tools.
This is preventing e-waste from being tossed into a landfill or some recycling place that only tries to take out the metals. I hope that manufacturers would at least supply parts or allow aftermarket to supply parts and board diagrams to repair shops. That way you have less junked GPUs
You make it look so easy !!! All that experience counts a lot !!!
Just this smile tells everything! That is why I like your job! Awesome!
I like your smile when you fix something. 😁😆😎
Amazing, how your experiences allow you to do this fix so easy.
Good job! And another mark on my list of failed caps.
your confidence is building with the video cards nice work.
Good job as always... Its great to see that muscle memory in action... I am an automotive electronic specialist and I am very fast at identifying and repairing major faults with vehicle electrical systems. I usually get vehicles after many many techs have been involved and have added multiple problems to cars (no problem i can overcome other techs damages) ... Sometimes I get customers that they even though they are out of options ( as far as finding a competent tech) still manage to disagree and argue concerning my fees .. I love the work I do but sometimes I want to leave the trade because I'm not a very sociable person especially when you have people that do not appreciate that I saved the day ( alot of cars I repair are deemed no fix as you say) .. Do you have any suggestions on any signs I can have posted so they better understand to get my point across that I can fix because of my experience.... Thank you oh by the way my name is Alex as well..
Make videos like Alex
There is always one apple that spoil the bunch, sometime you just can't please everyone. You already stated that you get cars other tech cant fix, just keep that in mind, you are a very competent tech dont let other grind you down.
You are a legend! I am sitting on a broken 1070 and this makes me want to buy a voltmeter
Top repair very educational.
Keep posting 📫.
Regards
Raul Carvalho
Not only making money but also saving that guy a lot of money. Even 1070's are expensive right now in this crazy market. Still a good card.
And that's why experience is worth money. Awesome job as always
Love the graphics card videos. Can't click on them fast enough to watch!!
I am especially happy that you fixed a Graphics card.
this is the power of knowledge
This proves the point that success comes with testing..testing..testing...And when you gain experience...you know what to look for when troubleshooting components
Thank u sir for showing us how important is experience. Respect
Wow. Just incredible wealth of experience and skill. You make it look so easy. I have one question. What is the point of a zero ohm resistor??
It act as a fuse, and as someone said in the comments, it's easier to install this than a jumper wire with their machine
I would measure the working C1100 and make a note of it in case you run out of donor boards. Great video (again), Alex. Thank you.
Thank you for the insight, experience definitely helps here. Had the same problem with a 1070 over a few years ago changed cap twice and both times it went bad and deemed it a no fix. Assumed the GPU was beyond economical repair. Didn't think to check the zero ohm resistor but you can only know this from experience.
Sir, I always enjoy your lovely work.
thanks have a great weekend..
Really u r amazing sir...i recommend my all friends about u...and they also watch ur videos
That was really good. And sir im a big fan of your.
Excellent job!
I was surprised to see parts being salvaged to repair a board. Is there something special about those capacitors and resistors that new parts can't be bought and stocked?
good job.. nice sharing 👍
Please make playlists with laptops, video cards, key fobs etc.
It would really be helpful
Any chance we could see a Radeon VII fixed, you must have a pile of those. Keep on educating the world what you do is great.
The power of the experience
I love what you do my friend! I have background in electronics but not at your level... Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to start a career like yours? You went to specialized schools? What kind of training you had? Do you think it requires schools or you can go home educated? So many questions yes, sorry. I know how to build and dissemble computers and components but this microscopic, electricity domain is where I'm clueless. Thank you and keep going please
You don't pay for speed you pay for experience ☺️
Excellent job 👌 you showed that video card whose boss 🤣
Experience makes life easier 😁
good job mate.
Notifications of you CZcams are crazy. As new but already seen
You Sir are the man
wow..... big man ting...you doing it big....this is gonna save me time
Thank you for sharing your wisdom,
If this is a common problem with this card should owners of this card have it serviced as preventive maintenance and how often ?
The whole reason I am asking is because if this happens a lot with this card it would not be worth picking up unless really cheap .
Very helpful. Thank you.🍻
Hello, I have two questions: 1.) I have a Toshiba 1200XE with a faulty power supply. The electrolytic capacitors leaked and the board is a mess. How do I clean the board? There are many smd components like resistors, inductors and so on, on the board. 2.) How do I desolder the joints without cracking the bolts, because the board is a 4-layer pcb. Thanks. Channel subscribed, the videos are awesome.
Hi, can you do a review for lws 301 laser soldering machine. Thanks
Safety first! Wear eye protection when testing! 😎
Nice job 😀👍
Alex is the best 😁
A true master
great video alex ...very very proffessional in all aspects ... experience is better than thermal cam haha .......regards to you and big boss .. joe from uk ..
cool cheers
0 ohm resistor that just sounds like a short!!
I didnt know they made those I wonder if they are just a piece of metal inside.
edit:
looked it up and its basically used as a fuse.
basically bad capacitor and blown fuse
very very good
This gives me hope for the longevity of my GPUs xD
That's awesome dude. Without thermal cam, without voltage injection tool, just educational guess based on your experience.
Respect from Chile.
sembra tutto facile, complimenti !!
Quick question - if a donor board wasn't available, how would you approach this? How would you deduct the cap's value? I mean, I know the theory, but what would be a practical way to work around this? :)
@@therandomchannel9226 When you mate *last time* seen shematics for graphicks cards? Find this - PLEASE. (lost connecting termianl - terminations)
The patient is gigabyte 980 Ti [c915 and c921]
@@Senior. schematics for 1070 and 1070 ti (similar components) can be found quite easily
@@AC_Milan1899 It would be nice if the manufacturers would give them as soon as the cards are released and not have to rely on leaked stuff.
It amazes me that in this time where right to repair is so hot that one of the big demands (that being schematics) seems to not phase motherboard and GPU manufactures
I have an old rx480 with a burnt out led driver. So the "sapphire" logo doesn't glow. It happened Shortly after I bought it in 2016 because it overheated when and drivers were shitty. I think I may take a stab at fixing it now.
Alex, I’ve been meaning to ask this for a year now. What’s the difference between a zero ohm resistor and a piece of wire? After 50 years of doing electronic repair (no micro) I had never seen a zero ohm resistor. Keep up the good work.
In the Navy I had a zero ohm resistor. It was supposed to be a coil. 120 feet above the 13 foot, rough seas off Viet Nam. "Strap up, climb up and fix it!" Yes, SIR! (saved the Captain's reputation, had an afternoon sickbay medicinal brandy fest)
@@calvinmientke3539 Sounds like a government operation to me.
This was actually answered in another video. the zero-ohm resistor is basically the same as a wire, just like you said. Its simply used as it is easier for surface mounting components.
Thanks for the answers guys. This was what should have been simple even to me, but didn’t make a lot of sense.
Man you are sharing wisdom!! thanks
Hi Mulugeta! It is my first time to see a name. where are you now! Addis?
@@mulatiechekol4513 yes
Tnx for this video i learn to fix bicause this videos and some other guys who upload videos like this
Good job boss
Why would you replace the commonly failing cap with one from a donor board? Couldn’t it already be well on its way to failure? Wouldn’t it be better to replace it with a new one?
Please show the viewers how to use the tools as well not fixing all the times.
So much knowledge 👏🏻
good job
This video would be even better if you show us an overall view of the board, locating the position of the voltage regulator and the 0 ohm resistor.
Nice work Alex another gpu card safed from dumpster. keep up the good movies
