The best metal band to never get the recognition they deserved. The guitarist Jeff Loomis is a God.
RIP to the lead singer Warrel Dane.
yeah man, Loomis is legendary.
don't forget about Chris Broderick! i love lumis, but broderick is one of my personal favorite guitarists.
Holy crap! 2020 and I had no idea Warrel Dane passed away -- and in my country! What a huge loss for metal.
Loomis is god.
@@tribalwarfair3221 dont 4get steve smythe and pat obrien also played in nevermore also
Guys, this time you went off the charts, I never ever ever thought you would do a Nevermore song.
Rip Warrel Dane, you will truly be missed, unique human being.
Thank You from Italy.
Jesus fucking christ... I just learned this now. Man, this band, this singer, this song shaped my transition from highschool to adulthood. The spiritual struggle of the singer was incredibly important for me. So sad to hear Warrel Dane is dead. Damn.
Yeah man, I know how you must feel. My guitarist woke me up that day with the news...it was like being awaked by a kick in the nuts.
His personal struggle meant a lot to me, and helped me through.
That's why I'll never be thakful enough to these guys, and especially him.
Just FYI, Van Williams (the drummer for Nevermore) watched this video and liked it! He mentioned it on his Facebook.
Awesome!
He is a beast
Nevermore - the heart collector
Imo the most underrated metal band EVER. Nevermore was simply fantastic... too bad it got ruined by egos like most of the bands that get split out. This whole album is phenomenal, my personal top 10 metal albums of all time include this album.
really Nevermore and Iced Earth(When Matt Barlow was on vocals) are probably 2 of the most underrated bands in Metal... whether a metalhead likes their style or not no one can deny they are extremely good bands..
Davide Pannone They really are. Before Djent even became big, their early stuff had a lot of sounds that djent players adopted, mainly the guitar stabs and bass tones.
I agree with both of you . Saw nevermore live more times than anyone other than in flames back when I was young
Agreed. Most underrated band, IMHO because of their realistic and materialistic views on reality (sorry for my auful ENG)
You should check out Warrell Dane's first band Sanctuary! Great metal band produced by Dave Mustaine!
Nevermore was one of the best metal bands of all times... ALL their albums were just great... I miss them so much! And R.I.P. Warrel.
StevenThePhilosopher And for me it's been more painful since he died in Brazil (I'm brazilian) =(
Oh my god, didn't know. RIP
Jeff Loomis plays guitar here. One of the best guitarists alive imho. He's just a virtuoso and knows the instrument perfectly.
Thane Krios he plays only diminished scales... the same pattern all over the guitar. Hahaha no.
Satan Whatever...
He's Jason Becker 2.0 Love Loomis
YES
Satan first off, he does alot more than that, that's just his favourite scale/ arpeggio to play. And how can someone who calls themself Satan, not like diminished arpeggios?
As far as Nevermore goes, I think you might prefer 'Sentient 6' (lyrically, maybe their most memorable track), 'Believe In Nothing' (a power ballad, probably their most accessible song, beautiful), 'Narcosynthesis' (just a well done catchy heavy/fast track), or 'Born' (heavy, straight-forward, with a beautiful, powerful chorus, and great lyrics). The vocalist, Warrel Dane (recently deceased), also had a solo track called 'Brother' which was a pretty well done power ballad (though not as good as Nevermore's best stuff, imo).
I see people requesting Death (tremendously influential death metal band, arguably invented the genre and gave it its name, later pioneered progressive death metal), I'd recommend either 'Scavenger of Human Sorrow' (I think you'd be really impressed by the musicianship, especially the drumming, on that track, as well as by the composition) or 'Crystal Mountain' (maybe their most notable song).
Everything you just said, with the additions of Nevermore's "The River Dragon Has Come" and Death's "1,000 Eyes". The lyrics to 1,000 Eyes and Gene's drumming are both amazing.
The melody of Sentient 6 caters to Dane's voice so well and is a good recommendation.
Pretty much the whole Dead Heart in a Dead World album is amazing, including their cover of Sound of Silence. The Heart Collector is by far my favorite Nevermore song though.
Hell yeah, sentient number 6 is awesome.
Born IMO is their most beautiful song
Nevermore is progressive metal btw. They are one of my favorite bands. RIP Warrel Dane.
fuckin a
Nevermore was one of the greatest metal bands. Unique fusion of progressive, thrash and power metal, with really great guitarist and vocals.
ANYTHING from Nevermore is Beyond Amazing... But "This Godless Endeavor" is truly a masterpiece
Jeff Loomis was the guitarist for Nevermore. He does a bunch of solo work and also colabs with Keith Merrow. He is hands down the best metal guitarist in my opinion. Highly suggest looking into him
Conquering Dystopia is tasty! I grew up with Jeff back in the day back in Wisconsin, My first show we opened up for his band System, then he got into Experiment Fear, which after he left for Seattle & I joined & recorded drums on the album Assuming The Godform. Jeff was on the first demo Choir Invisible. Look up System and Experiment Fear for some early youth Loomis here on YT, still a master indeed! Cant wait for his third solo with Century Media.
Jon Griesbach that’s crazy cool. I’ve listened to him for almost 4 years now and I love all of his music. Do you still keep in touch with him?
Last time I saw him was when he released Plains album in Milwaukee at the Rave, I message sometimes on FB n such. Still a humble great person. Can't wait for his solo third album and if Conquering Dystopia plans another collaboration.
Jon Griesbach conquering dystopia has a crazy line up. Alex is crazy good on a double bass drum set and Keith’s rhythm riffs are insane
OMG! You guys did it!
Whoa, didn't know he had died. RIP!
yeah.. it was an incredibly sad time in the metal community.. Warrel was loved by all.. there are very few vocalists that are as unique on the stage as him..
he died in South America while recording vocals for his solo project. They had to crowdfund to bring his body back to the states, his label wouldn't cover it.
Death - A Moment of Clarity
I was sitting at Denny’s after the Milwaukee Metal Fest back in ‘94, and Chuck Schuldiner himself came walking in. He went to the phone booth and started crying insanely to his girlfriend in Florida about how much he missed her. It was the most non-metal moment of all time. Death is still awesome. And he took a picture with me after he cleaned up. Haven’t thought about that in years. This comment just reminded me of it. Good dude. RIP, Chuck.
Porcupine Tree - "Anesthetize"
scarsunseen24 porcupine tree really underrated
Absolutely brilliant song. Masterpiece.
MWAH 😗👌
As a big Nevermore fan i have to mention that i felt so excited watching you guys clapping like that at the end of the song. Love u guys, cheers from Chile!
Rest in peace Warrel Dane! One of the best writers in Metal, and definitely one of the most emotional voices.
Not surprised you guys didn't enjoy the vocals, it's something you have to revisit a couple of times I think before you can connect with it. But it's definitely a great divider and probably the reason Nevermore didn't grow as big as they deserved to be.
Fagerlund personally, I liked his vocals in sanctuary and early nevermore albums better. I just don’t think he was able to sustain it as years past.
Warrel is my second favorite vocalist ever besides King Diamond
Good top two, similar but virtuosos in their own regard.
It really is time for Stargazer by Rainbow.
Its been requested many times by multiple people.
Your ready for it and we are ready to gaze in your reaction.
They tweeted something about it so we can say they are aware of the existance of the best song ever :) . Hopefully they don't cut the solo and best vocal parts.
thanks for the info.
I remember when I first heard it... I'm jealous of them as I wish I could hear it for the first time again.
Hope, if they do it, that its soon
Same here I would literally be the happiest person alive if i was somehow able to "hear it again for the first time". And ofc the jealousy is kind of present here too :)
Hey I was one of the people that brought that band and song up, I think on the Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell video haha. Yeah Stargazer would be good but you know these guys cut and have to eliminate some of the music because of copyright so they'd exclude some of it and there's very little parts of that song that are not fantastic.
I'm just hoping that they don't cut the parts where he sings where is/was your star, the part where he sings the high note going into the solo(including the solo) and last 3 minutes. Those are in my opinion the epitome of vocal power in metal, especially "was it far" part. But at the end of the day you are right, not a single second of that song is bad ;)
Jeff Loomis is a God
Nevermore- the river dragon
Yes - Roundabout
Hell yeah! I hope that classic ProgRock becomes a staple in the rotation of LIV vids (e.g., along with Metal, Rap, R&B, ProgRock, Classic Rock, and Country)!
I would love if they hit something from Fragile or the Yes Album, especially Roundabout or Starship Trooper!!
@Jason Monholland Ya no doubt! I feel like some more ProgRock like Yes, Genesis & King Crimson would benefit them before they dive into more ProgMetal type stuff
Not optional.
Nevermore is one of the few bands thats very hard to describe their genre. theyre like a mix between thrash, groove, and prog.
R.I.P Warrel Dane. will be a long time before another quite like him comes along.
Nevermore is probably the most underrated band out there. They transcend genres, just a fucking amazing band. RIP Warrel... I'm just glad I got to hang out with him once, an experience I'll never forget.
GooseGumlizzard well said.
Chris Peak I agree. They often get lumped in with Power Metal as well. It's nothing like Power Metal though. This has more similarities with old school thrash. But who cares, great band. Luckily I saw them live twice.
They are basically a death metal band with a different singing style. Way more to it than that, but basically what it boils down to.
Savatage - Gutter Ballet
One of the best masterpieces on this planet
pechar I conquer
Or "The crowds have gone"
Jeff Loomis (the guitarist) is up there as one of the all time great metal shredders and riffers
Death: Symbolic
We have been waiting forever for Death and their song called Crystal Mountain!!!!!!!!!!! I know you hear us in the comment section but I still have to say it!! Lol!!!
I second Crystal Mountain. Do it!!! 👍👍👍
Yes to Death but No to that song, Symbolic or Empty Words better
Michael Aguirre Crystal Mountain or The Philosopher would serve as better entry-level tracks.
Im just not a fan of Crystal Mountain, i love the solo but ive always found the rest of the song a little cheesy and they may too I also dont think theyd get past Chucks latter albums where his vocals went so screechy
Death, YES!!! but fuck the dumbass who asks for Crystal mountain.....
Symbolic is the best and we all know that... if you argue this, then you're not a true fan.
music is a beautiful thing man. so many options, so many variations. I remember listening to nevermore like 14 years ago, and i love that you guys remind me of some old stuff that I just left behind. Very appreciative of the channel
It's not freestyling. They play in different time signatures (as many metal bands do) other that the standard 4/4 rock. You have 3/4, 5/4, 6/4, 12/8, 7/8 and not to forget polyrhythms which is the combination of 2 time signatures in one measure. Messhugah drummer is great for those things.
Nevermore is the epitome of a progressive metal band. Way to think about it, Rush on steroids, that have been through some really dark times. Their lyrics are intense, the music is amazing, and the singer is awesome. I'd definitely look into some other songs. "Believe in Nothing" is hands down my favorite song by them.
RIP Warrel. The river dragon has come
Stupid stupid good pinch harmonics on this song and it’s just so dirty sounding you can’t help but snarl when you are head banging to it.
You know what, I forgot he was dead for a while, now I'm sad.
He's dead??
Last year.
Always preferred Sanctuary. Battle angels was first i heard. Was on the radio! Bought Refuge Denied wow what a beast of an album!
Man i dig u guys so much, yall do realize many are attempting to mimic y'alls success and i must say I haven't found anyone who does this as good as y'all, keep it up!
Have to come back to this reaction every now and then. Makes me sad accepting we're never ever going to hear this live again...
Rainbow - Stargazer
I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this absolute masterpiece of a song. So wholesome, I've been a fan of them for over a decade now. Defining their style isn't easy, they were kind of pioneers in what they did. They helped popularize extended range guitars (7- and 8-strings), they were proggy, they were heavy, they were technical, even the djent movement wouldn't be the same today without them. And then you just have that opera singer screaming about god the whole day (RIP Warrel), indeed a very unique band.
Been watching your vids all night/morning. Loving your thoughts and reactions. But this one has to be my favourite so far. And of one of my favourite songs. You guys rock.
Annihilator - Alison Hell
Death - Spirit Crusher!!
Death is dominating the comments, we must see the reaction! :)
Brian McAlpine yeah, I can't wait to see them not like it... Because they won't
agreed.. they appear to get thrown off by some of the BEST bands.. lol but yeah Chuck isn't for everyone.. but god damn he knew how to put an album together.
Steve Kozlowski exactly lmao felt that way with the TesseracT vid tbh
I think they would enjoy something like perennial quest, misanthrope, empty words, without judgment, or Crystal mountain
Outside of that not too sure
Brian McAlpine - Agreed I also believe they'd be into one of Death's more melodic songs such as Without Judgement or Misanthrope etc... Even though I keep requesting Lack of Comprehension 😉,None the less which ever song they end up doing(that's if they ever do a Death song) it will be hard to deny the talent in which this band had and the impact that Death still has to this day in the metal scene.
Excellent reaction guys, of an exellent metal band and song!!! First time i see a video of yours and excellent description!!!
Woah! Hyped as hell to see you guys get around to this one. Yeah it's an awesome song. You should also check out Nevermore - Sentient 6.
What a song. RIP Warrel Dane.
This whole album is a masterpiece. Great video! I would recommend
Death- Crystal mountain.
A Perfect Circle - Judith
My favorite song of all time!!
Robert Becker fuckin A
I'm guessing it's a label rights issue, not lack of votes. It looks like they're getting savvy to the game.
First time watching you guys. That was dope as hell. And you at least got the message and feeling of the song and enjoyed the music. I love Nevermore thanks for the video
Death - Flattening of Emotions
At The Gates - Blinded by Fear
Just, like, ANYTHING from Slaughter of the Soul. Nausea would be my pick.
Agreed.
and that's a great pick too.
DeChristianize by Vital Remains
I think new atg would be better for them. The older stuff may be a bit to raw for them.
Yes, yes
DAMN YOU GUYS ACTUALLY DID IT!
DEATH - SYMBOLIC! its got those slow heavy riffs ;)
They walk in many metal sub genres. Progressive, being one. Thrash, melodic, etc. It's hard to pinpoint their style. That's part of what makes them so great.
Meshuggah - New Millenium Cyanide Christ
You guys reacted to Bleed too early in your metal exposure lol 😂, you need to revisit Meshuggah.
For people bashing others for their request choices: Why put restrictions or boundaries on what these guys react to? All that will do it limit the content they put out. Do I like every song and every band the the guys review and react to? Of course not. But to say "no, don't react to that song" is counter productive to free thinking my friends!
Yeah, i seemed to have opened a can of worms =P
i´ll listen to anything once personally!
Thanagos You make a tremendous point. Ryan and George have been espousing “Free Thinking” from day one (seems like it was just yesterday). That was one of the main reasons I signed on with these guys in the first place. Let’s all try to adhere to the free thinking mentality that drew all of us (nearly 400K of us!!) in the first place. Peace out!!
Same here, I'm a metal-head, but as Piggie Parodies I do listen to everything that crosses my path at least once. Some of it may stick and I listen more often. People should be more open minded.
Thanagos Yes they should react to some lil xan stuff.
Though I agree with you to some extent, we have to remember that we also have to cater to these guys' tastes and NOT our own. If we want these guys to like our metal bands, we need to request songs that we know would appeal to them regardless of whether we think it is the band's best song according to our liking. For example, the last two Iron Maiden songs they reviewed, I KNEW wouldn't appeal to them (despite them being great songs. Far better songs for this free thinking endeavor would have been Run to the Hills, Aces High and Number of the Beast). People are making requests that are doomed to fail as far as an objective review in favor of them. We need to use discernment too.
Nevermore - The River Dragon Has Come
GREAT song from them. Enjoy it!
Congratulations for the true reactions on all videos, and mainly for the message you bring about the meaning of a “free thinker” person, and how good it is. The world needs that meaning!
Sorry for my bad english! See ya!
River Dragon has Come was the first metal song i ever heard when i was 10. His vocals work well within that song
Bliss Absolutely! I think Nevermore is a very different metal band because they can mix multiple genres of metal at the same time, in the same song, and, furthermore, because of the clean and clear vocals they use. The outcome, on the essence of their music, can be described by an angriness (brought by the heavy tune of riffs and instrumentals) guided by the “fairness” of vocals, that improve the sense of persuasion and imperativeness of the message of songs. Just fabulous!
When they do Nevermore but don't do River Dragon :/
Shucks so much great music from them, Enemies Of Reality would also catch them up to speed of the masterfulness! I grew up with Jeff, my first show we opened up for his band System, then he joined Experiment Fear, which after he left for Seattle I joined and played drums on the album Assuming The Godform. look up System and Experiment Fear here on YT, for young Jeff's work, still a master. Jeff was on Choir Invisible demo.
River Dragon has Come... is one of my favourite Nevermore songs...
Hang on wait...
Next in Line is one of my favourite Neve....
Dreaming Neon Black is one of my fav....
What Tomorrow Knows is one....
I, Voyager is....
The Heart Collector...
Seven Tongues of God
Acid Words
Lotus Eaters
Poison Throne
Who Decides
This Sacrement
Insignificant are some of my FAVOURITE Nevermore songs. 😂
Another awesome review guys! Hell yeah this song is sick! Okay then, next song - Fear Factory, Self Biased Resistor.
I request the band Death.......Scavenger of human sorrow.
They’ll love the speed and precision of that sick main riff.
Soooo many good Death songs to choose. I'd go for "The Philosopher" or "Perennial Quest" -- Fuck.... any of them!
I was literally just thinking about you guys reacting to this not too long ago... bad ass
Yaaasss. Been wanting to hear your reaction to Nevermore. Knew the vocals wouldn't be your thing, but that you would LOVE the music.
Death-Crystal Mountain!!!!
I second that.
DEATH ALL THE WAY
We have been requesting Death for months. It is not gonna happen
the flesh and the power it holds
Or Empty Words. Or Symbolic. Or Spirit Crusher. There are so many good ones
Great video! Nevermore is one of my personal favorite bands. If you ever come back to them, I'd recommend The River Dragon Has Come. Heavy, heavy riffs, one of the best guitar solos ever IMO, and I think Warrell Dane's (RIP) vocal performance on that song is a little more accessible on that one.
Also, if you guys like the slow, heavy riffs, you'll have to check out some doom metal! The mandatory first song, since you guys have already done Black Sabbath, is Solitude by Candlemass. Incredible song, killer riffs, and very influential.
Ryan Ohlson Do they do any more up tempo tunes Ryan?
Candlemass? Some songs have some sections that pick up the pace a little, but doom metal, as a genre, is defined by primarily being slow. At least, slower than other metal subgenres. Candlemass and similarly more traditional doom bands have some more mid-paced songs, and will have a fast section on occasion, but once you get into the more extreme parts of the subgenre, that's less frequent, aside from some styles of death/doom.
I agree, The River Dragon Has Come would be a better choice for the more casual listener like these guys. Beyond Within is another good choice in my opinion. Godless Endeavor is more for the hardcore fan.
You guys are great. And I can't believe you finally listened to this epic song. RIP Warrel Dane. What you just witnessed was the compilation of a little bit of every Sanctuary and Nevermore song wrapped into a swan song for Warrel. Each piece of this multifaceted production can be found in and of itself as a full song time and again on each album. Warrel's deep, distinctive and dramatic range put him at the forefront of Progressive Metal. So kudos to you both for showcasing this song. And when you are looking for a word to describe the freeform crazy in progressive rock/metal...it's called brilliant syncopation. Keep up the good work. You are a big reason I visit CZcams.
The thing that i like about watching you guys is, it's cool and interesting to see someone develop as a fan of a lot of the music that I love. Finding your own natural likes and dislikes about the songs that you listen to, like when George said that he liked the music, but wasn't really feeling the vocals. Your videos sometimes remind me of when I was young and learning about some of these bands for the first time. Those were good times and I appreciate y'all for bringing me back occasionally. Bobby T
The vocals are one of the reasons why Nevermore stand out honestly. To your question, they are groove/progressive metal. They are particularly unique because the vocals are like clean power metal vocals with the riffing low like death metal. Omitting the harsh growls of death metal.
I think it's time to enter Between the buried and me's Selkies or White Walls. A metalcore ish band who over the years, transformed into one of prog's most talented and diverse offerings.
Props guys, lovely work as usual. :D
Benjamin C yes BTBAM but they need to hear the newer material. Either Millions or Extremophile Elite.
Amazing song from an awesome original band...such a shame about warrel dane he will be missed he was a good singer and an even better song writer and lyricist...its disgusting that his death didnt even get a mention in metal hammer uk, its put me off buying the magazine tbh.
Yo new sub here. Enjoying the commentary and seeing yall react to some of my favorite rock songs. Having the album cover in the background is a nice touch. Good work.
Devin Townsend - Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall)
Jeff loomis is one of the best medal shredders out there his sweep picking is top tier Warrel Dane it’s a great singer his style is like no other
Right, sadly the vocalist died... However, Jeff Loomis (before joining Arch Enemy {maybe he likes the vocalist...}) recorded an impressive one-off album with Keith Merrow ("Conquering Dystopia"): brutal riffs + insane shredding + crazy drumming - it's all there. The funny (kind of) part is, from what I understand, they made the album without any big labels: kind of recording it at Keith's home (not 100% sure, but it looked like that) and it's still awesome.
RIP Warrell Dane - Seattle misses you!
Thank you so much for doing Nevermore.
You guys will love Sentient 6.
Great video guys! I love Nevermore and love the honesty and the acknowledgement of the musicianship from this band.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you revisit Nevermore, check out "The River Dragon Has Come". I think you might like that a whole lot better, guys. The grooves are stuff you can sink your teeth into and are solid.
it is a cool song about the 3 Gorges Dam in China.
I was hoping they'd start with "River Dragon". It's the song that got me into these guys. It amazes me how people who request stuff always tend to pick less "user friendly" material (for starters anyway). You gotta ease into stuff like this, not toss people into the deep end.
Couldn't agree more with you guys. I was just saying This Godless Endeavor is kind of a culmination of their sound, featuring so many aspects of it, that it can be a bit overwhelming for the uninitiated.
Yeah, River Dragon is my favorite from Nevermore, but the one they chose is good, too.
More nevermore! so good to see you guys groove out to this, definitely check out narcosynthesis and dreaming neon black :D
Love the react, y’all have come a long way in terms of listening to different types of metal.
Musicianship = Between the Buried and Me
Just do it ;)
"The River Dragon Has Come" by Nevermore
Death - The Philosopher
naw... Symbolic
Symbolic is a great song. But naw... The Philosopher
Blub too each, his own
Blub Symbolic!
It took me a while to get into Warrel Dane's vocals, honestly, so I can't say I blame you. I got that album, and it took at least a year or two before I went back after my initial few listens and fell in love with it completely. Nevermore were generally thought of as a Progressive Metal band, though they had elements of power metal and thrash metal.
Warrel Dane's is the only "celebrity" death I've ever mourned. "When I'm dead will you remember all the things I tried to say?" Even if it didn't connect with you enough to want to revisit it, you honor his memory. RIP Warrel Dane.
PS Cynic - Traced In Air
Blind Guardian - Battlefield
You guys are awesome. Nevermore are one of my all time favs!
I love the way you both become instant head bangers! \m/ Rick on dudes!
All hail for Nevermore !
Thank you guys, that was fire !
I'd say Nevermore is progressive metal with strong thrash metal roots (when it comes to instruments, the heavy tone of the band, breakneck speed, etc) and a bit of power metal vibes (noticeable in those theatrical vocal parts).
Daniel N I have always felt they were a sort heavy thrash with grunge elements, which makes sense as they were based out of Seattle and started a little before the whole grunge movement.
I might have missed the grunge element, like to know what you feel on that.
He's kinda right. Warrel was in the thrash band Sanctuary in the 80's 90's. I'd say that's were the thrash influence came from, not really grunge.
and the speed metal from the early 80
I always say they're progressive Thrash
Hey. I loved this reaction and breakdown. You guys do a good job of noticing the musical orgsnization, movement, bridges, etc. This band's musical format reminds me of My Dying Bride.
The guitarist Jeff Loomis is without a doubt one of the best metal riff writers right now. You were amazed by a true genius at work lol.
That's why he just had to collaborate with Keith Merrow, another absolutely sublime riff god.
You should check out Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood. It's blues, and possibly the greatest blues guitarist to have ever lived. Any of his live performances would be an excellent choice. I promise you won't be disappointed.
One of those guitarists where you don't just hear the music, but you feel it. He was taken from us way too soon.
or Pride and Joy or Little Wing
He's the only person I've heard plat Jimi Hendrix and be able to add something to it. Where you feel that he did it justice.
Unfortunately, the lead singer of Nevermore, Warrel Dane, died recently in my town São Paulo/Brazil.
Wow. We're sorry to hear that! Rest In Peace!
He was also the frontman for the legendary band Sanctuary...the guy had a hell of a voice and he'll be missed...
I really enjoyed this, I love this song, I love the vocals myself along with the entire song. Nice to hear ya'll breaking down the lyrics🤘
Judith by A perfect circle
Fellas - Nevermore are basically a Progressive Thrash Metal band. Lots of heavy riffs, time signature changes, instrumental passages and virtuoso musicianship.
If you liked this, it’s been requested a million times but something by Death would be up you’re alley:
Crystal Mountain, Flesh and the Power it Holds, Spirit Crusher etc
I totally agree. Closest genre to fit Nevermore is progressive thrash metal.
In flames - only for the weak (Live at sticky fingers)
Good choice
Yusssss
my favorite song from Nevermore. great review as usual guys.
You guys are the best. I'm happy you dug this song.
Love watching when you get your faces melted! If you ever revisit Nevermore, and I hereby humbly request that you do, please do "The Riverdragon Has Come" and "Born".
Born was my thought at first. Better vocals in that song tbh.
Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes, The Sound of Muzak or Fear of a Blank Planet
Masterpiece!!! Nevermore the most underrated metal band!!
By far my favourite NM song, thanks for making this video. It has everything that made NM what is was. The riffs, groove, melody, fast parts, slow parts, everything! And the lyrics...The LYRICS!
Warrel Dane was a master of his work. Together with Schuldiner the best lyricist metal has and will ever have. RIP brother.
For a solid 10 years Nevermore was one of the better proggy metal outfits out there. If you dig this you'll love Symphony X. Iconoclast is a Symphony X track in a similar vein. Factoid: Guitarist Jeff Loomis once auditioned to join Megadeth when he was 16. But he told everyone he was 22. Dave Mustaine and co. found out he was only 16 otherwise he might have gotten the job. Dave essentially told him you're gonna be better than me, go do your own thing.
Probably a good thing he didn't get the gig because he probably would have lasted one album & tour and then disappeared off the face of the earth.
Big Bry Maybe if he got into drugs.
I think everything worked out fine.
You guys are such a great escape from a polorized world right now!
The style that nevermore's music is written in and played is called progressive heavy metal. It helps that Jeff Loomis is a virtuoso on the guitar and the rest of the band members can no doubt do their thang like its nobody's business. You better believe that the entire nevermore library is in my playlist. Great review guys.
Yo, I absolutely love your channel, best reaction videos on CZcams, I noticed you've never done a Stevie Ray Vaughn song, I would love to see you react to Texas Flood or Life by the Drop. I'd love to see more classic rock vids! Also maybe do the song Kick Down by Long Beach Dub All Stars it's a great reggae/hip-hop song.
I could hit 10000 times the like button and wouldn't be enough. What a great fuckin way to start a Monday.
“Diary of a Madman” by Ozzy
Finally, I can type in the comments !!! THANK YOU for the NeverMore reaction, Very kool,
Just a little FYI, The vocalist had 5yrs training with Opera vocals, thats why it sounds like a play.
If possible, 2 songs you should check out, IT HAS GROOVE ALL OVER IT.......
