Yes I believe the whole album "This Godless Endeavor" from Never more to be a masterpiece. Every song on that album is absolutely out-freaking-standing. If you guys do an album reaction, then definitely do that one with a few others of course from different bands. Opeth album "Ghost Reveries", Megadeth album "Rust In Peace" just to name a couple more for ideas...hint hint...wink wink.

Warrel's voice was just unique. The man had years of classical training and it shows, but he had made that style completely his own. Also, his range was insane. I'd recommend listening to *Sanctuary - Battle Angels* (the band Nevermore emerged out of) back to back with *Lucretia My Reflection* from Warrel's solo record to truly grasp his range.

Warrel was trained in opera for 5 years, as was Geoff Tate ( Queensryche ) both prog mix genre bands. Both from Seattle which has always had excellent musicians who take great pride in technical, concise musicianship. Nevermore was a amalgam of prog, grove, thrash, traditional heavy metal. They were a special, top shelf band. BTW, the whole album was this tight and good.

R.I.P. Warrel! His solo album is really worth checking out, too. He may have more than one, but I'm only aware of Praises To The War Machine. He also was vox for Sanctuary early on. Their Refuge Denied cd was produced by Dave Mustaine and is also worth a few listens. Jeff Loomis, in my opinion is a very underrated player; I love his work with Arch Enemy, too. I'm a big Queensryche fan, and I liked the Blaze Bailey era of Iron Maiden (Falling Down, Futureal) as well, so it's not a far stretch for me to like Warrel's vocals as well. The tempo and rhythm changes on this tune are intense. Excellent reaction, really enjoyed this particular one. Seems no one does Nevermore. My top 3 Warrel Dane tunes for today... Lucretia My Reflection (Warrel Dane solo), White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover from Sanctuary's Refuge Denied LP), and Nevermore - I, Voyager. Peace!

Makes me depressed knowing i can never see them or hear his amazing voice live. Definitely gotta listen to dreaming neon black from them. Warrel Dane was/is one of my favorite vocalists. He puts little inflections on his vocals that no one else doing that style did. So many good songs.... "The Sanity Assassin" from their first album. "Dreaming Neon Black" has converted many a person to Nevermore fandom. These guys considered themselves Thrash but it is definitely prog. So their roots are in Thrash metal, but definitely prog. Anything you did from this band would be worthy of listening to. "The Heart Collector" is incredibly catchy too with amazing vocals. EDIT: Consider Metallica - Master of Puppets. Is Thrash also often Prog? I think so. Master of Puppets has a few interesting different transitions.

    YEEEES THANK YOU!
Nevermore is arguably THE MOST underrated metal band ever.. as if they were too good for the metal community. The best lyricist in Warrel and one of the best singers, guitarists and Van Williams is a super tight drummer with great cymbal/ride action on top of his tasty use of double bass!
This Godless Endeavor is my 2nd album of all time - 2nd only to Symbolic from Death!
NEVERMORE is a mix of thrash and groove metal (since the beginning) and prog metal (since "Dreaming Neon Black" in 1999) and really got their signature sound with Jeff Loomis 7-string guitars since "Dead Heart In A Dead World" (2000).
It's a sweet mix of dynamic drums, distinct and operatic vocals, HEAVY riffs, tempo changes and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G solos! Also, they wrote super catchy/anthemic choruses (Born, Enemies of Reality & Emptiness Unobstructed etc.).
As the guy who requested this said; This is one of the best metal songs (of the last 20 years). Up there with A Change of Seasons, The Odyssey, Dante's Inferno, Kingdom of Heaven etc.
You should react to one of their more emotional ballad-y songs like Sell My Heart For Stones, The Passenger or The Heart Collector.

totally agree with what you say here MetalForTheMasses.. you did leave out a few of their more Mainstream Friendly songs though that are probably the most accessible like Believe in Nothing... but yeah I totally agree.. Warrell Dane is one of the greatest guitarists of our generation from a total perspective.. he's among one of the most technically sound.. can set the fretboard on fire with ease and can play pretty much any style you could ask of him.. but yeah the place where he totally makes himself above and beyond alot of guitarists is he also can write riffs that are beautiful.. and unique.. and Ripping your face off thrashy... while not being thrash.. They are only underrated to people who have never given them the time of day.. Them and Iced Earth are probably my 2 favorite bands of all times and both are criminally underrated.
it should be mentioned for HalfLife that while Warrel was classically trained he also had some training with Geoff Tate of Queensryche.. that's where the influences that they talked about come from.. plus when news of Warrel's passing made it to Geoff Tate he made a mention of the loss and dedicated his performance of Silent Lucidity in that show. Warrel was not only an extremely unique vocalist but also an extremely humble down to earth man.. I got to witness one of their shows back in 2007 and I remember it made a big mark on me because it was a little venue that you wouldn't expect them on.. and after the show Warrel made time to shake hands and have a few words with people in the venue that wanted to go up to him.. where as with most guys you meet in that way there is that sense that you get that even if they are nice they are probably putting on a facade there was none of that with Warrel... he was just There.. he seemed like he was as happy to be there as we were.. made a huge mark on me..
I think I may need to become a patreon just so I can request Sentient 6

How about doing something different than every other reaction channel and go with Nevermore's version of _The_ _Sound_ _Of_ _Silence_ which they did way back in 2000.

Yessss, great reaction and amazing song, Nevermore is one of my all time favorite bands, they all are/were so insanely talented and gifted, R.I.P. Warrel Dane, one of the really really great vocalist of our time and such a brilliant lyricist...
The whole album is a masterpiece and not just this album, they made so much brilliant music, I will forever miss them and I feel so lucky that I got to see them live, when they opened up for Disturbed, they played a flawless and completely mind blowing show, Jeff Loomis is a beast on guitar, Van Williams a monster on drums and Jim Sheppard made that brilliantly rich and thick bass foundation together with Van’s drumming and Jeff’s heavy riffs... Love this band beyond words...

Gods I love this song. This whole album really is a masterpiece, in my opinion. I go back to it every now and again and I'm always struck by how deep and sophisticated and moving it is. So sad about Warrel Dane - his loss so young was really a tragedy. The solo stuff he was working on when he died was recently released as an album titled "Shadow Work", and while he never finished the whole album, he had completed several songs with about 40 minutes run-time. It's well worth a listen - some really good stuff there, though it does highlight the loss of a real talent.

One of the most underrated bands of the last several decades. Warrel Dane was an amazing singer/lyricist. I encourage you to check out more material from them. Dreaming Neon Black or The Politics of Ecstasy would be good follow ups.
Honestly the worst Nevermore album is like a 7/10. Tells you how great they were.

Nevermore is an amazing band, but if you mention Warrel Dane, died in 2017 by Heart Attack, you have to mention his former band SANCTURY and their Masterpiece LP from 1989 "INTO THE MIRROR BLACK" with the song FUTURE TENSE.I think all old Metalheads will remember this song for sure....i definatly do ;) ....Greatings from Germany,Soulbrother FENRIS

Any song off of " Into The Mirror Black" or from " The Year The Sun Died" by Sanctuary, is a better choice for a Warrel Dane song in my opinion.
