I absolutely love how phantom liberty starts as an omage to Escape from LA and slowly turns into a Bond movie
Well it starts out closer to the plot line of Escape from New York, where Snake ends up being forcibly drafted to save the President whose plane went down.

slight correction - Night City is specifically located where present-day Morro Bay, California is, not up by Monterey. The actual Morro Bay itself is filled in, and much of the landscape has been heavily altered by development, but the spaceport is built on top of what was originally Morro Rock (a real landmark). As a reference to this in-game, one of the radio stations is actually called "Morro Rock."

Silverhand reappearing for this DLC was honestly a surprising twist, seeing as it seemed they were doing a obvious set up to shut down Silverhand in Dog Town so they didn't need to pay Reeves.

Just wanted to point out that Alex kills Hansen if you decide to help So Mi escape instead of trying to hand her over to Reed
Yes, I was impressed. I didn't expect the game to have the balls, but Reed and Alex are true professional spies and killers and no matter how hyped up Hansen is, he's only human, if not warned he will just die like a human. If warned though he wins which makes sense cause he's a supersoldier while Alex is an assassin, among other things.
The only real problem I have with Phantom Liberty's story is that all the major players are either the President of the New United States, or the Cyberpunk equivalent of CIA spooks. This means I didn't trust any of them. Reed could have given V one of his kidneys and I still would have been waiting for him to pop me in the back of the head or the kidney to turn out to be a plastic explosive. I think CDPR knew this on some level and that's why they made Johnny go to bat for him as hard as he does, despite Reed being a diehard representative of what amounts to a high caliber, soul stealing, civilization crushing corporation. Johnny has to act as some kind of tempering force to see more of the man that Reed is and less of a destabilizer of nations CIA agent, but I was so far gone that I just though he was acting crazy for even considering it. I ended up going with Songbird, the first time around, because she seemed the furthest removed from the NUSA. I sniffed that things weren't going to work out for V from the beginning, based on how cagey she was being, but figured I'd help her out anyway.

you chose well my friend. Reed has a very similar character in the base game, which is Takemura. a man of principle and loyalty, but only for the wrong people and place. Takemura for Arasaka, Reed for NUSA. a loyalty that has blinded them from any reason to the point its unshakeable. if V follows any of them, V betrays his friends, loved ones, his own principle and worse. Himself. the whole game we run around blasting corpos and their awful nature just to sell out to them for the sake of survival. which ends always with V getting stripped away from everything. because V sacrificed everything, even himself just to live on so he could survive. no blaze of glory, only quiet life.
on the other hand V and Song are kind of in the same situation. yes she lied, but thats because she is that desperate to survive and be free from the tyranny of the government and the agency.
so yea, fuck arasaka and NUSA. v is just a useful tool for the right problem at the right time. other than that it would be v getting shot while he is unconscious.

I had very similar thoughts when playing. I knew that Songbird wasn't playing honest but I still chose to save her. Left with a bitter taste in my mouth
On my very first playthrough, I did have the sense that Songbird wasn't going to live up to her promises, but somehow it still made me want to riddle her with lead just as bad when it did finally happen
You can tell the netwatch agent about your gig and surprise they arrange him into civil protection from VDBs
it was said that 'npc with routine' was never promised, it came from a mistranslated interview.
Great summary and review. Quick correction, Bartmoss broke the internet when he got pinched by corpos and released the virus purposely before getting zeroed as a sort of FU to the world that betrayed him. This released the rogue AIs to the internet and Blackwall was created afterwards to section them off from the human world.

Can we take a second to appreciate how goddamn incredible 2077’s graphics are? Absolutely unmatched by anything else in the industry. On max settings (and without any of the slightly uncanny human models) the game could damn well be mistaken for reality.
This game could compete with Rdr2 in graphics.
I loved the bit where you need to maintain cover as one of the twins. I botched some of the questions, though if you have 20 cool, you can stylishly walk back your incorrect answers

Visually all the characters seem human and life like even random npcs who you can walk by and listen into their private convos, they feel actually alive. Contrast that with starfields creepy NPCs with constant unerving stares only saying things that revolve around the player, it just feels like fallout with a reskin. Hell even same weapon types in essence.

Great vid! Earned a subscriber. Small detail that most miss: The Blackwall actually IS an AI itself. Factions like NUSA, Arasaka, and Militech are all trying to exploit this AI to their own ends which i think sets up a potential plot in the next game. That plot being an AI invasion of real space when/if the Blackwall decides to go rogue.
mmhm, i kinda suspect Mr. Blue Eyes is an ai-controled borg. Spoiler.... but Songbirb alludes that he's the one who hooks her up with the ticket to the Moon.

It's easy to think that President Myers doesn't care about So Mi but I think she actually cares about her in her own way, she just cares more about the results So Mi's interaction with the blackwall is giving her. Sure she gave her the best chrome and made sure So Mi wanted for nothing and maybe she sees that as enough to justify what she was doing to her. Just a shame that Myers would always be a Politician first before anything else.

After 100%-ing the expansion and coming back to this video I just wanna say I love the way you and @FranklyGaming express your love for this game despite its still apparent flaws. It’s not perfect and it’s not the game I wanted it to be but I was grateful that it even released and became one of my favorite games of all time for its quests and universe and the city itself. Also it makes me feel better knowing you made the exact same choices I did in phantom liberty. Keep up the great work Owen !! ❤️🔥

I think the outcome and the missions you get for capturing songbird are more badass and crazy instead of siding with her...this Blackwall demon robot gave me that metal gear vibe..the hansen fight was badass...the maxtac fight was badass...the outcome for sticking with reed is better...i kill songbird instead because thats what she wanted freedom and there is no way in hell i was going to let myers use her again as a slave
A cool, missable detail about the plane crash scene is that you can actually see the escape pod with Songbird inside eject to the left just before the plane crashes. I didn’t notice it my first couple playthroughs. It’s the little details like that which makes Phantom Liberty so great.
I don’t consider this ending the “good ending” more like the “quiet life” ending, it rings true, because throughout the game you’re reminded of the “quiet life, or blaze of glory” beginning with Dex Deshawn
I saw that cyberpunk commercial when i was 11 and i never saw it again after I thought it was a dream ever since that day ive been infatuated with getting an open world future city game I didn’t even remember i saw the trailer until i saw it again i literally unlocked a new memory lol i think thats maybe why i love this game so much

I love the part where you said you attend Hanson’s funeral but then a few minutes later as you get into the black sapphire to meet songbird Hanson is still alive. Completely KILLED this review and explanation for me, if you are going to do a review/explanation on a linear story you should try to keep it in order.
It's so crazy how different the story goes based on that decision you make when song bird is hacking the Matrix device. The missions I had were completely different. Even Curt Hansen is insta-killed Jet Li style by Alex.

Yeah, at best it shows V to be hopelessly naive (same as the Arisaka ending) or delusional (like Reed), at worst it shows V to be a self-serving monster. Some great opportunities to define V's character in this DLC.
Eh, V gets cured and so mi gets what she deserves. So the NUSA has a very dangerous blackwalled songbird, I’m sure we’ll all be fine 😮💨
Currently making a melee/shotgun netrunner build. I use cheap debuff hacks to jam weapons or force enemies in place, then dash up and coup de gras them.
It really mixes up the passive and boring camera hack playstyle.
Hey, you're a new youtuber so this is just a tip for anything you make in the future; De-essing your audio is really important, there's multiple times in the first 2 minutes where your "S" sounds absolutely cut through and are really uncomfortable to listen to. If you don't have a pop-filter I'd recommend you get one as well, though your plosives aren't nearly as bad.
The neturunner that netwatch had spiked, if you kill the netwatch agent Netwatch eventually starts hunting you as well.
The gig with the 2 idiot cops must be by favourite side quest ever, especially since I went stealthy and got the “you gotta be shitting me, these cops are the most dumbest people around.”
CP was absolutely unplayable back then. But it has fully redeemed itself and broken all expectations of what a flatscreen game can be for me

CPRD redeemed itself. I will be waiting on the next game for full review before I buy. Not into additional 3 yr fixes. Still the bugs with vechiles and random flying cars are still in the game. The crowd and gameplay really brought the game to life.
With the way ai is advancing today I think we need to start working on a black wall stat

I have to admit, that I am extremely down bad for Songbird, and I immediately googled if you could romance her once I saw her design. You sadly cannot romance her, so my down-badness cannot be fulfilled in game.
Love the video though, and besides the fact that I ignored every spoiler warning and now know the entire plot of Phantom Liberty, I can’t wait to play it.

im also using mods that enhance the look of the game (lighting,textures,reshade,etc) to make the game better

i really liked cyberpunk 2077 dlc it was amazing :)
The way Reeves played the part was exactly what they wanted. And I couldn’t think about a better person for the role
This expansion was at its peak for me when it embraced the spy-thriller aspect: saving the president, infiltrating the blue sapphire, impersonating the twins. That all felt tense and exciting and the script made it superbly enganging. I didn't trust Reed a single bit so I decided to help out Songbird, which, in hindsight, was a mistake. I did not care for her and honestly wished that the story rather ended with some high concept stakes (like preventing a war between the NUSA and NC, or something other spy/politics related narrative), not with the personal drama of saving a life.
Helping So Mi is quite a good option. Alex survives in that case and you basically flip the finger to the man (Myers) in true Rockerboy fashion. After the PL Ending you can still go out in a Blaze of Glory with the suicide mission "Dont Fear the Reaper" and become a true NC Legend. (And if you want my humble opinion: The robot stealth & hide mission is way more annoying than the airport shootout. It is so drawn out and after 15-20 mins you curse having to hide from that mfing robot again.)

16:38 That "glitch" causing your framerate to drop is a lack of VRAM and your PC trying its damndest to make some space and swap assets. I get the same issue with a RX 6600 after ~2 hours of play.
P.S. The 3070 Ti is a disgrace for a video card (8 GB VRAM is inadequate for its performance and it has insane power consumption for little gain over the 3070). You've been got by Nvidia.
I dont enjoy the lose your relic and cyberware and relations ending. V definitely got the short end of the stick and the narrative leads you on to believe that the surgery will be no big deal. Its smarter to wait on the cure and pursue other leads on the suspicion that the surgery may not go well and take the great "the star" ending

I played thru this and.. ahm.. some stuff is just plain "wrong". Either that or what side missions and how many you do before advancing the main plot has more influence on in what row stuff happens than i guessed. I met Mr. Hands way earlier than you, Hanson was more than alive and kicking at that point, I was still searching an entry to his party...
After watching some more... You probably just edited this badly together.... Your dead Hanson is shwoing up alive in your video 2-3 minutes later...
