I was there for this too!
    It was a crazy battle!
Definitely one of the most memorable of the DMC USA Championships.
The raw talent, event, and the crowd was just plain rugged!!
One of the best nights of my life AND two of my boys in it, Mysterio and Slyce!!

Oh my goodness! He was my first love for DMC DJ's in the competition. And yes,it's true what you said, Shum, that his set was indeed uncanny. Especially with his unique skills of playing the records in reverse. Speaking of that, this was long before Virtual DJ came on the scene. Nowadays, people including myself use it with a special DJ controller that allows the turntables to set any pitch range we choose. And if it happens to reach above 100%, it has the power to play music in reverse. Quite handy for turntable trick mixing.

@@syviov5761 I wanted to say he had custom vinyl but he did the “Warm It- Warm It- Warm It-“ and after he reversed the record it played perfectly normal.
No way that was custom vinyl, but i can’t fathom how he could’ve done it

We used to do that upside down needle trick back in the early 90's, using a spray can lid and a straw.

The original source is... Dougy Fresh - The Original Human Beat Box (1984 )
(Doug e fresh & many others were also using rock guitars in songs before the Rick Rubin & Run Dmc - Walk this way revisionism )
@Michael Shum. Re: The Warm it up Kane routine.
Its not very clear on your upload but Dj Cash Money & Total eclipse are sitting in the background. Cash Money jumps up to get a closer look to figure out what is going on :))
The Bdk - Warm it up Kane audio sounds the same when played forward & in reverse which indicates that its an audio edit or pre - made battle record.
I have so many highlights of Mysterio. He placed two records on a deck to function like a cog or a gear system. And I think his tap the record to create new beats routine in Dmc Usa 1998 was overlooked by dj's & producers etc as theirs so much potential in that trick.
I think Mysterio should have been headlining events as some of his tricks , illusions & miming in Dmc & the Scratch documentary dvd were original & clever. But unsuitable for restrictive dj battles where authenticity is valued.
Does anyone have any footage of the 1997 Dmc Usa regionals or semi finals as the standard was very high?
